User Image"Y-Yeah. Thanks for your help!"
He watched as she sheathed her sword and sat down on the dummy she broke.
His gaze didn't leave the sword one bit.
"Say... you're pretty good at fighting. Is it something to do with that sword? When it hit me I felt it. It wasn't any ordinary material. Or at least, a material that you'd find in swords..."

"I... I feel fine, sir. I'm more than ready to train." Coline answered, her tone a tad bit more relaxed. Her brows furrowed slightly despite her efforts at keeping a straight face. She had been meaning to say something, but figured it would be best if she listened to what the Captain had to say first.

User Image"This sword..." Sta looked down at the hilt. It looked pretty normal. It had a red-violet gem on it and the grip was black leather. But the hilt contained most of the swords weight. The blade, though long and of a moderate width, was very light.
Sta stopped for a moment, wondering how to explain it.
"This sword is an interesting piece of technology. It is... made of a sort of metal, just like any other sword. It's just been enhanced with... very advanced technology." She stopped again.
This couldn't be the time or place she came from. She couldn't say much more without giving away too much. Besides, she didn't remember much anyways.
"You're right, I'm not very good at using any sword but this one. It is the only sword that is for me. Otherwise I'd use a ray gun, eh?" Sta smiled.

Jessie looked at her oddly. Then again, he didn't know what he'd been expecting her to say. Her fainting spell had been rather alarming, and... he supposed he had rather decided it was something more serious than it was.

"In that case ..." he began "... I suppose Lorika has already spoken to you about how you're to go easy on your body from now on, am I right?"

He had a slightly bitter feeling he was. He didn't know the Priestess very well, but from his experience she wouldn't miss a chance to admonish. They got on well enough together, but a pacifist and a combat expert can never quite see eye to eye.

"Yes. Although--" Coline's gaze shifted downward. She contemplated confiding in the Captain, but decided against it. He would think of it foolish anyhow. Bringing her eyes back up to meet his, she spoke again. "...Would you ask the same of me, sir?"

"I would," he answered bluntly "For though I hate to admit it, she was right. There is a fine line between exertion and over-exertion, and it is a beginner's mistake to -"

Jessie stopped abruptly, and seemed to weigh his words for a few moments. Eventually he shook his head slightly, as if trying to shake something out of it, and looked down. "No. That is too harsh. Anyone can push themselves too far from time to time."

He looked back up at her, his steely gaze not quite meshing with the gentler words coming out of his mouth. "I'm not trying to chastise you, Coline. Just be careful. Contrary to popular belief, I am not trying to kill my recruits, and I expect them not to kill themselves by way of common respect."

Coline could only stare back in awe upon hearing what he had just said. This... was not how she was expecting to be reprimanded. She had always known the Captain to be strict and unyielding, but from time to time underneath his stoic disposition, Coline found him to be quite kind.

Or maybe this was the calm before the storm?

"I understand. Thank you, Captain." she said with a bow, "...And my sincerest apologies for whatever trouble I may have caused you."

The conversation was certainly taking many surprising turns. Jessie raised his eyebrow at her. "You caused me no trouble."

He thought for a moment, folding his arms. His tone then became noticeably gruffer and abrupt than it had been. "That is, I would have done the same for any recruit. However, if it will make you feel better, I accept your apology."

"Of course, sir." She had to fight back a chuckle. He was still her superior and she didn't want to appear too cheeky.

Lifting her head back up, Coline assumed a firm stance yet again. "Captain." she started. Judging by the look on her face, it wasn't too difficult to guess what she was to ask for. "Permission to initiate phase five."

User Image"Interesting is right. I've never been... uh... hit by anything like it."
He was about to sit down, when he stopped halfway and got back up again.
"Grrr... I can't sit still. It's boring."
He began to swing his arms around while walking in circles.

"Alright, let's go." He said bluntly, stopping whateve he was doing, immediately facing her in his battle stance. It seemed he didn't even consider her opinion.

Jessie seemed to glare at her for a moment, but it was entirely certain that this was simply a variation on his default expression.

"Of course. Your next phase is all about movement, which should be a nice change from simply standing and sparring with a dummy or a drow."

He began to turn away, but then returned his gaze to her, single eye drinking her in. "I trust you anticipated the different nature of your next stage of training and chose not to bring your weapon?"

"My weapon?" she repeated softly. Coline turned to the unsightly pile a good distance away, expression slightly twisting in unease, before turning back to her superior. "Y-Yes, of course."

She was far too embarrassed to say that she hadn't the slightest idea where her trident was. Thankfully fate spared her the humiliation; she wasn't going to need it during this exercise. Though now that she had said as much, there was no way she was going to dig through that pile. Not when the Captain was watching.

She would have to come back later, once everybody was asleep.

The Captain watched her carefully a while longer. He noted the twinge in her expression and what was perhaps the beginning of a flush around her neck, but he made no comment. She obviously wouldn't like attention being brought to whatever was bothering her. "Very well. I'll leave you to it, but... of course, I'll be nearby if you need me."

Inclinding his snowy-coloured cranium, Jessie finally made his exit, moving back towards the larger throng of practisers further off. "Good day to you, Coline."

(( Can I just laugh at the phrae "snowy-coloured cranium"? Ahhh, roleplays. X3 ))

"Good day, Captain." she answered, regarding her superior with a reverent stance.

Coline watched as he turned and made his way to the other recruits. Feeling a sudden urge to grab the Captain by the wrist and ask for his assistance, she sighed. It wasn't in her nature to ask for help from others, but she always found the time she spent with the Captain to be... enjoyable, albeit draining.

But she wasn't selfish. There were others who also deserved a chance to blessed by the Captain's guidance.

With that she claimed an unused spot quite a distance away from the other recruits and began her warm-up. Phase five, Signature Travel, had started.

(( Hmmm well... so far time has only advanced along with updates... has enough happened to merit an update? humm... Yeah, y'know what? Go ahead~ I'll make some post in the main rp thread to the extent that the day has moved ahead.

EDIT: If/when Bapp and Sta come back they can decide whether or not to keep their own thing going or move on, I guess =) ))
