Lee sunk further, feeling even worse. "There's really that much?" She shuffled her feet a bit before heading into the carnival, unable to appreciate the familiarity it brought walking through Farstep. It wasn't long before she came back, letting Rory know someone should be coming. "Sorry..." She'd packed too much after all. She was sure the first thing Rory'd wanted to do was just get to their cottage and relax.

"It's alreet, lass. I wanted you t' bring whate'er would make you happy," Rory laughed, tousling her hair. "i just didnae realize at th' time you were packin' your entire home. Seriously, is there a servant in there somewhere?"

Lee pouted, kicking Rory's leg pathetically. "It's just clothes." And she'd left a lot of it behind, too. Wow... she really was spoiled, wasn't she? Lee's attention was caught as the horse and cart arrived, the girl grinning at Rory to let him know he'd be the one lifting all these apparently impossibly heavy boxes.

Rory gave Lee a quick smooch to the cheek and set about loading the cart, chatting with the girl that had brought it and catching up on news. He almost dropped the box he was putting in the cart. "What?"
"Nae, it's true. They took th' lad there yesterday," the girl replied.
"Well, I'll say," was all Rory could manage for a response, setting the rest of the boxes in the cart. He walked around, patting the horse. "Howway tha, Glass Slipper." Then he looked at Lee. "Come on, lass. We'll take th' cart up an' I'll bring th' horse an' it back in th' morn. Seems there's a surprise at th' Gradys."

"Yeah, it is," Rory said, climbing up to the cart, then leaning down to help Lee up. "Apparently there's three Grady kids now." He flicked the reins to get the horse trotting through the grounds toward the cottages.

Lee tilted her head as she sat next to the boy, thoroughly confused. "We were only gone a week..." Ellandra couldn't get pregnant and have a child in that short an amount of time. Was there a third baby they had been hiding somewhere or something?

"W' all kinda always figured this boy named Kelly wis Fao's though his mum denied it. Seems your Lauss got t' mentionin' tha' Kelly could be Fao's relative, an' off th' lad went t' talk t' his mum. Ain't sure what happened next, but Sheila back there says th' boy's livin' wi' th' Grady's now," Rory summarized. "Bet me youngest sister comes t' visit a lot more often now."

Rory looked at her, expression softening a bit. "Kelly's mum an' da... well, th' man w' thought wis his da.. they abused him. There ain't much th' clan can do in a situation like tha', you see. W' can want t' get him out o' there, but w' have our laws an' what they were doin' weren't crossin' enough o' a line t' help him. Fao layin' claim t' him wis a godsend."

"Oh..." was all Lee could respond with. She slumped forward, resting her elbows on her knees in a very unladylike fashion. Lauss had sort of helped the boy, then? That was... good, she supposed. For once, his big mouth came in handy. "Mmm... Um... Hm." That would be mean, wouldn't it? Aw, just say it, Lee. "I dunno if I should be allowed to talk to the kid." She sat back, giving Rory and uncomfortable smile. "I dun wanna make things worse for him... I dun have a lot of patience with kids, is the thing." She was afraid she'd kick him if he got cocky, and, according to what she'd heard, that was the absolute last thing he needed. Wow. She really, really shouldn't be having kids.

"I think you should gi' th' boy a chance before decidin' if he's difficult fae you, love. Kelly's a good lad. Besides, chances are, he'll be adjustin' t' his new family an' prolly wonnae be runnin' o'er t' visit. I mean, I know th' kid through me sister, but I donnae really talk wi' him much," Rory said, steering the horse up the little lane toward their cottage, so tiny compared to the Katan Estate. "W'll prolly see Kendra about more as she'll need an excuse t' see Kelly. Has a crush on him, she does."

She laughed a bit as she "Aw"ed, a small smile on her face. She wondered what that was like, considering when she was Kendra's age she had no interest in boys. It got her wondering what Rory's other crushes were like. More curious than jealous, and she smirked over to him, though didn't really ask. Lee decided she would talk to the boy -- Kelly, she supposed was his name -- provided he even noticed she was there at all. Just to see what kind of little guy would get attention from little girls. What a cute thought...

Rory smirked a bit, a thought coming to him. "He looks just like Fao. I swear he's th' biggest idiot e'er not t' think tha' wis his boy." He pulled up to their cottage and hopped down from the cart, moving to hitch the horse before coming around to help Lee down.

Lee just giggled a bit, not knowing what the boy looked like herself. She'd just have to see. Taking Rory's help as she hopped down, she decided it was up to him to carry the boxes inside. She smiled at the sight of their cottage, stepping forward to walk inside, finding the door was open, as always. Home was nice, she decided. Lauss didn't seem to be here, either. Perhaps he was visiting Rhian. Of course he was visiting Rhian.
