"I'll keep him. An', yeah, I meant tha' about leavin' him wi' you. I wouldnae felt reet acceptin' an expensive gift if w' didnae stay together," Rory said, shrugging. He looked down at the dog wriggling happily in his arms and smirked a bit, remembering something from earlier. "He peed right in front o' Lydia when she wis tryin' t' clean up th' first mess he made. I think tha' kinda makes him your dog."

Lee had never been more proud of another living creature than she was of Ki Du. Trying to hold back her laughter as she patted his head and gave him much more praise than he deserved for peeing on the carpet, she beamed up at the boy, her happiness restored for the moment. "He likes you best. Plus, I got him for you. I think that makes him our dog." Besides, she wasn't going to be the only one working at training him...

"Eh, well, fae tha' moment, he wis yours," Rory said, setting the puppy down. Ki Du barked and bounded around their feet, once again trying to destroy Rory's pants.

Lee giggled at the puppy's antics before peering up at Rory, her expression darkening. She sighed a bit, biting her lip before speaking. "Why does it seem like... every time things are going right, someone always comes along and tries to break us apart?" It was like they were cursed or something.

Rory shrugged. "Dunno. Maybe it just comes wi' th' deadspeak. Whate'er it is, I ain't lettin' things get so bad between us again." He looked down at Ki Du. "An' I ain't lettin' him tear up me pants. Come here, you." He made a grab for the puppy, but Ki Du danced away, yapping at him.
Darting under the bed, Ki Du peered out, giving a puppy grin. Finally Boy was playing with him. Maybe Girl would play, too. He barked again and ran out the other side at full puppy speed and headed straight for Lee, bouncing off her legs when he couldn't stop soon enough.

Lee gave him a weak smile, not really sure it was anything that he could help. But she wasn't about to let anyone break them up, either. It couldn't really get any worse than it had today, could it? Her smile widened, however, as Ki Du hid under the bed. She winced as he ran into her legs, reaching down to rub his little head, making sure he was okay.

Ki Du bounced around Lee's feet, yapping at her. Girl didn't have anything to grab hold of, though, so he bounced back to Boy, attacking his pants again.
Rory just sighed and held his foot up, Ki Du hanging from his pant leg and growling. "Alreet. This li'l guy needs t' gae out an' play."

Lee covered her mouth, laughing. "I think you might need new pants, too..." Ki Du was going to love having another dog around to play with, though. Rosco would love it, too. Heading into her closet, she finally decided it was a good time to change, hurrying to put on the closest skirt and shirt that matched. She went back to Rory and the puppy, thinking she still needed a shower, but that could wait, she supposed.

Rory had wrestled Ki Du off his pants again and was holding the squirming puppy. He smiled at Lee when she came back out. "You look pretty in tha'." He held th' dog out to her. "You mind takin' him on out? I wanna gae shower. I still feel kinda dirty. I ain't really sure I'll e'er feel clean again."

"Thanks..." She laughed a bit, kissing him lightly. Lee took the puppy in her arms, nodding to Rory with a somewhat apologetic look. Not that she had anything else to be sorry for, that she knew of, but she couldn't help but want to apologize on Lydia's behalf. She went out into the hall, remembering to grab his leash at the last moment before going outside to let the dog run around a bit.

Rory went back to his room to shower and strip the bed and basically get rid of anything that reminded him of what had transpired that morning.
Ki Du ran around outside, tugging at his leash and sniffing everything. He'd been good and peed right when they came out. Now he was busy inspecting his whole territory and currently trying to get closer to Girl's Mother.

Mrs. Katan poked an eye open to notice that Ki Du seemed to be coming closer, and adjusted her chair so that her feet weren't on the ground. It was more comfortable for lounging anyway. Peering over to see that it was Lee walking the pup, she smirked, waiting patiently until her daughter managed over to her side. "Have you left Rory yet?"
Lee kept her eyes on Ki Du, not bothering to glare at her mother, or even get upset for that matter. "No."
"You're running out of time, you know. A month goes by quickly, and then you're stuck with him forever." She chuckled to herself for a moment before sitting up, still not allowing her legs to be in puppy-range.
"Yeah, I kinda figured that... Looking forward to it, actually..." Why wasn't she upset with her mother this time? What was different?
"For all that Lydia did, she did have one thing right. You two should see other people." The woman removed her sunglasses to look at her daughter, eyes as cold and calculating as ever. "And I'm not saying that to split you two apart. You love him, okay, I see that. But you know, you might meet someone someday and realize that they were a better match for you. Perhaps you chose Rory because he's the only one you've bothered to get to know."
"I'm not doing it. It's stupid, and a waste of time, and I'm just gonna end up feeling guilty."
"You won't feel guilty if he sees others, too. What's the harm? It can only open your eyes to someone else, or perhaps bring the two of you closer than you thought you could ever be. Give it some thought."
Lee said nothing, though had to admit that her mother actually sounded like she cared for once. But sounding a certain way wasn't the same as actually caring. She really couldn't wait until Ki Du was done playing. She wasn't sure how much longer she could stand to be around this woman...

Little did Girl know that Ki Du would never tire of playing. He was outside with all the smells around him. And how dare Girl's Mother move so he couldn't get to her feet. He bounced up and down by the chair, yapping his silly head off and finally managed to get his two forepaws on the chair. Wriggling his back legs, the puppy managed to get on the chair and started bouncing around on Girl's Mother, barking playfully.

Mrs. Katan nudged at his paws as he was trying to get up, but found Ki Du was actually quite able to get up either way. Scrambling off the chair, the woman scoffed, wiping at whatever hair might have gotten on her clothes. "Honestly, another dog in the house... you really hate me that much?" She looked down, sighing. "I'm going to have to change now... There's mutt hair all over me." And with that, she stormed into the house, walking away from Lee and the dog.
Lee just smiled, sitting in the chair her mother had occupied before, nudging at Ki Du's sides playfully, once again proud of him. He deserved to be played with, she supposed.

Ki Du bounded up and down Girl, first to her face for licking, then down to her feet to chew on her shoes. He flopped down on her feet, gnawing away happily at her shoes.
Rory came outside, passing a rather disgruntled Mrs. Katan. He was sure that woman had given him the stinkeye on the way by, too. He came outside and smiled at Lee and the puppy, heading over to them to sit down in the other chair. He propped his bare feet up on Lee's chair, feeling a little better after a shower, his hair still damp and sticking up a bit. He wasn't sure he felt any cleaner, though.
