In Medias, did God also make you selfish? Because like every one of us humans on this Earth, you 'naturally' are. It's part of our fallen nature. And being homosexual is also part of yours.

There's no such thing as fallen nature. I can't change who I am attracted to.

I'm so ******** done with this guild. Instead of spreading love and tolerance, most of the Christians here spread intolerance and hate.

Thanks for affirming why I stopped being a Christian after years and years of indoctrination.

I too at one point in time thought that it was a sin to be homosexual, then I tried to KILL MYSELF numerous times for being gay and loathed myself because G-d would surely hate me, right?

You guys really need to smarten up.

Sorry, Hashem is loving, not evil, mean, and intolerant.

In Medias Res IV:
We all have a fallen nature-- it's simply our tendencies to do things that are not in line with God's will. Being homosexual does not make you any *more* fallen than the rest of us. It is not a sin in itself. God does not hate you for it, and neither do I.

Here's a start for the citation:

Also, I don't know if any of you guys listen to The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe... but it was on a Science or Fiction section of one of the episodes (it was the fiction... because the question underestimated the frequency of homosexual behavior in animals).

You can change sins, you can change your behaviour, you can't change your sexuality.

As I said, this doesn't show universaility, only that it is not uncommon among animals. Which, as I explained, is irrelevant to my argument.

And I still 'naturally' lust after an attractive girl that I see in the grocery store. It is impossible to eradicate the fallen distortions of our nature, but that does not mean that we should act on them. Paul says that some Christians, such as himself, are called to a life of celibacy. How is staying celibate as a homosexual any different?

First of all, I am not a Christian, second of all, LOVE is an important thing.

Me being in a committed and loving homosexual relationship is harming no one.

Saul of Tarsus annoys the hell out of me.

Are you saying it's okay to be a Christian and gay as long as you practice celibacy?
Because I would be totally cool with that. As long as you don't think being gay alone is bad. It's the lust that is the sin. In my opinion anyway

I apologize to anyone if I seem to be acting hatefully on this thread. I am trying to be as civil as I can, but if I backed down every time someone took offense, I'd have to surrender on every discussion about homosexuality. Note that I did not start this topic.

This really is a heated debate... How about this every one take a deep breathe say that we are all family in the human race and that love is love (drugs are finally starting wear off) we can all have our preference of who we are attracted to that won't change but as said by Nebulance we can act upon our instincts so why don't we just stuff the instinct to flame and give everyone a big hug of forgiveness... didn't Jesus himself stay with those considered sinners at the time and taught them in kindness so why don't we do the same thing we are in a religious and sexual battlefield so drop the religion for one moment people and treat everyone like a long lost family member worthy of all the kindness and love you have inside of you...
(okay that was long and I think I said the same thing more then once)

That's exactly what I'm saying. smile Being gay is no different from 'being' selfish. Our actions, and our thoughts as far as we control them, are what matter.

Absolutely. I know that this discussion always ends in offended homosexuals, so I do not usually start it. If, however, it is started, I will ensure that the other side is adequately represented.

So in other words, infertile people are selfish too because nothing good can come from their relationship, right?

They can't make babies.

Oh, and sex for pleasure is a HUGE no no.

It's not a preference. At what age did you CHOOSE to be heterosexual?
