Here I was thinking that the ODST deployed along the regular Marines for any normal missions. eh. I suppose I'll hold off on taking my own ODST test for a bit then. Maybe once I think up another name for a new soldier.

By the way, anyone want to slap me for my test post yet?

Only crew get to see the test ^^

So dragon, you should just join in now, and kill everyone with some epic post of death... biggrin

In nee dof sneaking, unconventional and last resort... who you gonna call?

ODST! biggrin

I think being ODST allows me to take a bit more peaceful approach to my RPC and general storyline, as odd as it sounds. Fighting against hostile forces isn't everything. Altough, when I do combat them, I want to hit hard.

Don't expect anything like that unless I get to do some pretty epic killing. I like to leave tings for other people to do you know. xp

And as stupid as this may sound, where do you want me? I see several RP threads, and I'm not entirely sure which one I'm supposed to actually be in.......

Multiple RPs?

Nope, just Harvest Thread is the only one.

Morale forum is just past threads.

There is user made RPs in a sub forum, but those have nothing to do with our story.

Okay, so you guys only post on the main forum of the guild. I'm not used to that..... sweatdrop Well, I'll adapt in short order. I'm reading up to try to get a rundown on the current situation, but don't expect much, it's 2:25Am here, and I have to be up at a decent hour tomorrow.

You should get it pretty quick.

Just to be sure, I understand that the wonderfully annoying sentinels are swarming, and the Armored Prayer just got shot down. This pretty much what I'm looking at?

ODSTs or Orbital Drop Shock Troops are used primarily for unconventional warfare, deep reconaissance, and sabotage behind enemy lines.

ODSTs deploy in small combat teams with 5 to 10 members depending on the squad and mission. United Nations Space Command ODST Special Forces Operators are culled from other UNSC Special Operations Groups or National Special Forces programs. It is extraordinarily difficult to become an ODST, as applicants are required to undergo a three-tiered screening process in which all three tiers must be passed, with the third tier assuming that the first and second tiers have already been failed.

ODST operators are quite capable of fighting alongside regular Marine infantry units using conventional warfare tactics. ODSTs can be inserted to a combat zone directly via SOEIVs (Single-Occupant-Exoatmospheric-Insertion-Vehicles) a.k.a. HEVs (Human-Entry-Vehicles).

In HTRP the ODSTs have been given a canonically inaccurate role up until now because their uses had not been defined. Their only previous appearance was as a stronger Marine in Halo 2 and Halo 3. As such, we just sort of assumed they were some kind of super Marine and everyone wanted to be one.

We'll be keeping the ODSTs to their more specialized roles from now on, so signing on as an ODST might not be the best of ideas as you could be limiting your roleplaying options.

The Navy and Navy Medical Corps also need volunteers. We need Corpsmen and Crewmen folks! Not to mention Naval Aviators. Right now I think I'm the only one with a Pelican pilot.

I am now incrementally less ignorant. I appreciate the info greatly. I'll hold off on the test for now in that case, until I get settled in (or killed) with my current unit. Depending on my other RP activity, I might take up another character to fill a hole, like a pilot.

Oh, and to the crew that has to read my test, sorry about that. I was given control over a huge situation, and ran with it. My posts may be detailed, but I'm not entirely sure if I can keep posts like that as a regular thing. I do tend to suffer from writers block quite frequently.

I think this is one of the reasons I RP so widely. If I can find something that catches my imagination, it tends to break the block and ideas flow much more freely. That post I submitted was the result of almost two weeks of writers block let loose at once. I joined another Halo RP about that time as a Spartan. Well, after my second post, it was promptly ignored by the creator. I had high hopes for him too.

I agree with Hege. A big restriction on ODSTs will be put into place, because we have too many, and they're being played wrong.

I don't get why people are almost avoiding the Navy like the plague, either. They're very important too! And we only have three tests in the archive. >:U Be Navy, darn it.

Maybe if you alter the text in the recruitment thread to make the tests a decision. It says you must pass the marine entrance exam before you can be a Navy man. Maybe give people an option instead, join the Navy, or Join the Marine Corps. Then if you pass the entrance exams you can take the ODST certification tests. (when they aren't restricted)

Don't mind me, just offering my most likely unwanted opinion. Please don't shoot me...... sweatdrop
