You should just do what I do with scorpions, use a shoe. I grab the nearest shoe and whack away at it, because anything thinner its tail might pierce and sting me.

I put mosquitoes in a cup and put it outside 8D
and for the little roaches in the garage and laundry room I carefully walk around them so I don't step on them
and if I see one on it's back I help it back on its feet <3
If I see a spider I either throw a shoe at it and run like a frantic maniac or tell my mom to kill it crying
IF IT'S A FLY I CHASE IT AROUND THE HOUSE WITH A NEWSPAPER! scream
I can't kill roaches anymore :<
It makes me sad if I kill one I even put a small crumb for the roaches in the garage <3
