Then perhaps she should have asked Elrohir but then again she did only stay for a small while before going off again and when she came back she wasn't exactly in the frame of mind for questions. Lin wasn't sure if someone's hair could turn fire red from being in fire... probably legend ash figured.

"I can't say how she would feel about that,"
Lin admitted, "Caranthir though on the other hand.... like he's truthful when he talks he just sorts of gives the run around I think."

Or avoids questions, she was sure he had done that once or twice.

"You said you heard of Caranthir too right?"

Sir Valdemar chuckled. "Well, perhaps I'll write a letter asking her if she'll come, and if not then no harm done," he smiled. "As for Caranthir ... there are some stories about him, though I have to say I had no idea he was with Aerin until now. He is spoken of as the one who appears where there's trouble, and who ends the trouble almost effortlessly. He's highly spoken of, though no one knows anything about him besides that."

Lin looked thoughtful, while this answer a few questions it did create a few more. She also decided that Haven just simply attracted all sorts of people.

"So they're both pretty mysterious then," Lin murmured.

Another mystery and she couldn't go off and ask whatever question that came into her head. Well Caranthir she was sure wouldn't mind, he would just avoid it.

"Does Aerin still slay dragons? Do you know?" the thought occurred to Lin, that this was the personal agenda that she could be doing on and off.

Sir Valdemar shook his head slowly. "I have heard nothing new about her in nearly a century, not since the war," he replied. "To be honest, I had thought that perhaps she had been killed during the war. She would not be the only famous name to have done so. So many were killed ..."

It had after all been the second greatest war in the history of the Four Lands.

If she wasn't hunting dragons anymore then what could she be doing was the first thought that came to Lin's mind. Not that it was any of her business really, but Lin couldn't help but wonder.

"Well she has to be doing something, if she still hasn't slept for so long and she says she still has business, though I don't know what that could be..."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 02, 2009 5:47 pm

Sir Valdemar shrugged one shoulder. "I cannot speak for her," he said apologetically. "I don't know why she hunted dragons, and I don't know if that was her only goal. I can't say what her business might be now, or why she hasn't slept. All I can say is, I fear for her life when she does finally sleep."

"Can she even sleep now?" Lin asked uncertainly, "I think I was told once that for every day a person is awake is a day they must sleep, but she's been awake for so long is it even possible to sleep for that long?"

It would be like a coma she supposed, it's a heavy price to pay to not sleep.

"It would not be safe," Sir Valdemar replied. "To sleep for so long ... I have never heard of anyone live through a sleep that long. But who knows, if she as truly immortal as legend tells ..."

He shrugged again. He really didn't know. He just knew that he wanted to meet her, learn her story.

Yet Caranthir she knew joked about it from time to time. Lin did hope that Aerin would be okay, even though she was a bit intimidating at times, she was really a nice person.

"I hope so... but it sounds like she can't yet...."
Lin murmured thoughtfully, "I don't think I've found anyone this mysterious since Aragost first came to Haven."

Sir Valdemar shrugged. "Well, I'm sure you can have yourself quite a time trying to figure her out," he winked at her, "just as much as you had trying to figure out Lord Aldrich."

There was a knock at the door, and it opened and a guard stepped in. "Sir Valdemar," he said formally, "Her Majesty would like a word with you."

Sir Valdemar nodded and rose to his feet. "Thank you, I will be there shortly," he replied. As the guard turned and left again, the historian turned back to Lin and smiled. "Well, it's back to work for me. It was good talking to you again, Lin, and I hope we have the chance for more talks before you have to return home again."

"I'm sure of it," Lin replied back softly, "I'll see you later."

Letting Sir Valdemar get on with his work, she pondered for a moment where she was going to go next. Perhaps she thought as she picked up the sleeping Senka, she would go back to Earendil's study.

At least she hoped they were still there as she went back the way she came.

Earendil was still explaining to Shiro about the instruments that were scattered about the room, and while Shiro was absolutely absorbed, Ura and Kaito looked bored out of their minds. Both of them were standing against the wall, far away from any of the instruments they didn't dare disrupt.

When Lin walked into the room, Kaito's eyes lit up brightly. "Hey, Lin!" he grinned. "Where have you been?"

"Talking to Sir Valdemar," Lin grinned as she carefully placed Senka in an empty space where she was sure the kitty wouldn't get stepped on.

It seemed the extra heat had made her cat sleepy.

"It's always enlightening even if is just to say hello."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 03, 2009 4:42 pm

"Pretty long hello," Ura commented with a grin. "What'd you talk about?"

Kaito chuckled. "Knowing Lin, it was just question after question after question." He winked at Lin, showing that he was teasing her. "But then, Sir Valdemar being a teacher and all, he likes to talk a lot, so it all evens out."

Lin giggled at that, she did realize she tended to ask questions and she certainly did while visiting Sir Valdemar.

"Well he was interested a bit in Senka, and then somehow the conversation migrated to Haven's two new mysteries. Aerin and Caranthir are the new fighters... well not so new anymore but they are the latest to stay. Apparently they're a bit of legends, but even then no one knows much about them."
