That's because it was based more on the book than the Disney animated version.

They mixed it with another poem/short story actually. Not too sure if it was by the same person who made Alice in Wonderland, but the Jabberwocky, Bandersnatch, (whatever that bird was called), and the Vorpal Sword are all part of a poem/ short story.

I'd rather be forgottenYes Jabberwocky was written by Carrol. But in the poem the Jabberwocky was described as 'wiffling and burbbling' which shows that it wasn't a violent creature. It was symbolic of taking things on first appearances. I KNOW my Carrol lol. Than remembered for giving in.]

Well, they needed a villain that would explain why the red queen had backing, and a scary looking critter like the Jabberwocky would certainly fit the bill. Tim has been known to take liberties with source materials (The Nightmare Before Christmas started off as a rewrite of the Night Before Christmas) but typically he does make a good quality story to go along with his alterations.
I'm not sure if I would have liked the movie if he tried to make a carbon copy of the book, or a slightly altered version of the first movie.
Anyway... Isn't the movie supposed to be Alice's second time entering wonderland?

It is. She just thought the first time was a dream.
I liked the movie. It was quite interesting.
And I could have sworn the Jabberwocky in the poem was an evil creature, hence the only way to kill it was with the Vorpal sword. But whatever, it helped the movie.
Though I really didn't care for the white queen, she didn't bedazzle me like she should have... and she was Ann Hathaway from princess diaries.... ew.

I'd rather be forgottenOh I liked the movie. I was just stating some things that were different. Drives my mom nuts. xd I agree the White Queen was erm.... eh. It's not that it was Ann Hathaway really, I think she was pretty in 'The Devil Wears Prada,' it was just..... too white. I liked her better earlier in the movie when it showed her with blonde hair. During the Hatter's memory. And then they tried to offset the white with the black lips and such. It think they would have looked better if they'd been whore red or something (Yeah yeah red is her sister's color blah blah blah). Though she had the gag face perfect, no? I also thought it was funny how Alice would drink anything that was shoved under her nose. blaugh Than remembered for giving in.]

I loved how the march hare was absolutely bonkers. "...spoon..."
Or when someone would ask for something to be passed he would hurl it at them.
I also love that one little thing they say, "Am I mad?" "Yes, absolutely bonkers.... but all the best people are."

I loved the Hare! "You're late for TEA!" is probably one of my favorite lines form him, with "...spoon..." being the other.
And the mad saying is true which is why I like it.
