Rose very tensely watched Victor drink her juice, her nostalgia shattering like very thin, very delicate stained glass. As he put it back, she noted that his scent had tainted the smell of the juice. She would ignore it. In a very soft voice, Rose answered with, "Whatever do you mean, fox-bait?" It surprised her that she was able to maintain herself and not morph in front of the whole room.

Apparently, he actually didn't have any interest, because the instant something with breasts walked into the room, he was immediately out to reassert the machismo that she imagined was dinged most times he showered. Anolani's presence was comforting as Rose watched the Shadow mage fail to recognize the subtle, second scent so characteristic of a Resurrected. The fox almost unconsciously scooted a little closer to the demoness with a light smile. "Good morning, Miss Anolani." She was silent for a split second longer than she intended, then continued with, "How was your... relocation?"

Anolani heard Victor and the new girl chatter. Someone woke up a wee bit cranky. She couldn't really blame the new girl for being angry. Had Anolani not had her own morning cup of coffee, she'd probably be in the exact same mood.

Another elementalist, eh? Irg. Again with the fire. Fire elementalists are too overdone. Not that she had anything against fire users. Out of the elements, her least favorite was fire. She was an okay earth and wind user, but dreadful at fire. I guess it makes sense since I specialize in water.

But now Rose was talking to her. "My relocation was....surprising to say the least. I'm guessing it was the same for you?" She took another sip of her coffee and gave a teasing smile. "And please, just call me Anolani. No need to add a 'Miss' alright?" After a slight pause, she asked, "You don't mind me calling you cutie, do you?" As much as she was a flirt, she DID like the werefox, and wanted to remain on good terms with her. If Rose was uncomfortable with her nickname, then Anolani would stop.

"Oh, it's fine; I don't mind at all." Rose's smile - indeed, her entire posture - relaxed around the woman. It was... comforting, for there to be someone who was at least not directly trying to affront her. "I'll try to remember that... Anolani. And I was not - quite - pleased with the... method of relocation." Despite her efforts, it was still a struggle to ignore the feeling of her hackles rising whenever she called to mind the day she had been taken from her family. For most, it would have been a traumatizing experience. For a werebeast, especially a canid one, to whom pack and family took precedence over even one's own life, it had scarred her so deeply that an actual cure was not within the abilities of well-trained psions.

"But I suppose it was both necessary and efficient," she conceded, steadily depleting the mound of food during pauses in conversation.

Jenny smiled a bright, genuine smile, though it was probably genuine for the wrong reasons. Aside from Water, which she could barely use at all, and Earth, which she'd only tried once (and with what could most charitably be termed unspectacular results), her Shadow magic was weakest among her abilities. The shadow shield, while fairly useful for deflecting a solid hit, was brittle and difficult to keep up for any length of time. If this person could help her make it better, or maybe teach her a few more tricks, she'd be a long way towards being competent at this whole magic thing. "I'd like that," she fairly purred. Then, glancing at the older woman and younger girl sitting nearby, she asked, "Are you going to introduce me to your friends?" The girl looked ridiculously young, and-- there was something WRONG with her eyes. They looked flat, almost dead.

...What, old man? Sometime today? It was difficult to concentrate on talking to real people when he was chattering at her.

... Okay....? Why?

...Alright. Noted.

Anolani's face brightened. "Oh good. I'd have hated to stop calling you cutie." She reached to slightly twirl the younger girl's hair. "There are people who just don't like nicknames or such, but see, you're just too adorable...it'd be hard for me to stop." She seemed fascinated by the girl's hair. It's so pretty. I wish I had her hair. She stopped momentarily to take a few bites of her breakfast.

"I doubt anyone was happy with their relocation. They probably did it to test our reactions," she murmured. "And to be bastards." The coffee cup she held began to bubble. Calm down. It's not ever going to happen again. She blew across the mug and the bubbling drink instantly cooled down.

A change in topic would be good. "Let's talk about something else. You're such a quiet girl," she lightly smiled. She only meant to tease. "Where are you from?"

Rose's smile actually broke into a grin and she blushed as Anolani started playing with her hair. "Thank you," she said quietly, her voice nearly a whisper. She bristled slightly at the mention of the relocation, and thankfully accepted the change in subject. While this subject in particular did not allow her to escape thinking about her past, at least it was easier to talk about. She sipped her juice, Victor's corruption of it forgotten.

"I'm from Pennsylvania, originally... as far as I know," she answered. She shifted uncomfortably, but not because Anolani had made her that way; because she was unused to having a civil conversation with another human being. It was true that she was quiet; usually, speaking only involved establishing superiority and explaining why her commanding officer was missing fingers and an earlobe. "Mm... what about you?"

Anolani paused in her sip of coffee (damn that was good coffee!). "I'm not at all sure where I'm from," she said lightly. "I think I'm South American. I know the language in any case."

Her past wasn't something that she didn't like to think about - not because anything terrible happened, but because she had no idea what was in it. "I'm a demon-minor, so the earliest memory I have is getting my first assignment from Cabal." Her heart tightened slightly. "I'm still on the look out for any information about my past, but it's not a big deal to me." No, I just want to find that damn man! Maybe then I'll get peace.

"Oh... right," the werevixen finished lamely. She had forgotten that little detail about Anolani's species. "Well, I hope you find some clues," she said with a hopeful smile. She could fairly smell the love-struck frustration from the demoness. It reminded her of her own side-quest. "I'm actually looking for someone, too," she offered after cleaning off her plate and setting it nonchalantly in Victor's seat. Juvenile? Yes. Did she care? Not in the least. "Maybe we could help one another out."

Anolani leaned into Rose's side. "I hope I find them too." She perked up at the offer to help each other. She tilted her head to the side and felt her curiosity spark. "I don't mind offering the help if you need it." I should still have some contacts who could help me out with her issue. It was surprising how much Anolani was getting used to the younger girl. "So who's this mystery person you're looking for?" She returned to playing with Rose's hair. "Who's the one that has captured our fair lady's heart?"

Perhaps later she'd tell Rose about the mystery person. At least, maybe then she'd get a better understanding and idea of who it was she was looking for. I wish I had the name...

"That one is...Anolani, I believe it was. She's a demoness with some talent in manipulating water. The other is Rose, and she's a werefox. Not really sure what's going on with her."

He spoke quietly to Jenny, actually interested in hearing what the girls were talking about. It was very likely to be worthwhile to know what his teammates wanted, and where they came from and intended to go. He listened quietly, along with (probably) Jenny, as they conversed. Victor stored the knowledge away in the back of his mind for further thought. Both girls were looking for something; that was always a powerful motivator. He'd investigate later.

For the present, he would focus on Jenny. Victor wasn't fond of multitasking anyway. "So, Jenny. We'll work out some kind of training time after we find out just what we're doing on this boat. Til then, get to know everyone, and I'll be sure to talk to you later." He finished his flirting with a smile before turning and moving towards Jace. Victor made sure to sit opposite him and not come close to touching him.

"So Jace. What we were talking about yesterday; have you thought about it? Would you be able to train me?"

"I imagine so," Jace replied as he returned, taking a seat upon a table with his freshly-retrieved plate of fried rice and chicken hearts. "Not immediately, of course. But between missions and such I could probably teach you a few tricks, move you on to higher-level or more difficult forms as we continue. The main problem will be breaking you out of your Warlock thought patterns, because other arts are more difficult the more you're stuck in that way of thought."

Morgan sat with his bottle, smiling faintly, eyes half-closed, inscrutable in his alcoholism.

"Sounds perfect. Can't wait to see what we can do." Victor nodded in contentment and turned his attention out into the room, observing everyone absently as he waited for something to happen.

Her heart beginning to beat a little more quickly, Rose swallowed silently and after a moment of residual tension, relaxed and allowed Anolani to close the distance between them. Continuing to speak little above a whisper, she blurted without thinking, "Well, he's actually my brother."

When the demoness' finger briefly stopped spiraling, Rose thought for no more than a second before flushing scarlet. "Not- I don't- it's... we're twins, I mean. And he..." What was wrong with her? There was no reason to be acting this way, except that... Rose cleared her head, tensing up and frowning slightly to do so. This was dangerous. This was a far cry from intimacy, but it was certainly closer than she had ever been to another person, and it was getting her flustered. She took a deep breath, fingers clutching the edge of the sofa, and exhaled in as controlled a manner as she could before continuing, her flush fading. "I... lost track of my family," she murmured, rolling each word around in her mouth before letting it loose. "It was a few years ago, and I've been hoping working with the Cabal would help me find them." A soft growl escaped her, rumbling mutely in her chest and then fading.

Jennifer favored him with a wink that he probably couldn't see, then turned around and rolled her eyes. Sleeeeeeezy. Still, if he could really teach her something worth knowing, continuing to feign sexual interest wasn't going to be an annoyance without any sort of compensation involved. Is there anything to eat around here?

<... Why did you make it sound as though fire was your preferred element? It's wind, isn't it?>

For the same reason that I didn't tell them about you, or about the Shadowman training. My employers know about it; these people don't need to. It's always good to have a trump card or five held in reserve. ... And for the record, I like fire fine.

You don't sound like much of a evil mastermind to me, she told him, skillfully avoiding actually addressing the point, Did you really just give me the teamwork speech?

Uh huh. Then she heard the last sentence or two of what the little were-girl had been saying, and spoke up before she could think better of it. "Then why do you sound like you want to kill them?" she asked, cocking an eyebrow, "The Cabal, I mean." The girl had growled, for goodness sake; it didn't take a damn Tyrgani Scientist to figure it out. "Sorry if I'm butting in," she added belatedly.

Anolani slightly frowned. "I'm sorry," she rested her head on the girls shoulder - it wasn't really easy to give her a hug from their position. She would have continued the conversation if the new girl didn't speak up.

Anolani gave a light squeeze to Rose's shoulder before adressing Jennifer. "Are all shadow users this rude? I don't believe you were invited into this conversation." There was a cold gaze in Anolani's eyes as she looked over this woman. "My name is Anolani. My lovely friend here is Rose."

She got up and walked quite closely to Jennifer. "I'm an elementalist. I overheard your conversation with Victor. You're an elementalist user as well, right?" Anolani's smile grew and fangs started to grow. "I'm thinking we should be friends. Compare notes on our various elements and the like." She slowly wrapped her arms around the girl's neck. "And as friends, I want to give you a warning."

She put her mouth close to the girl's ear. "Butting into other people's conversations will get you in lots of trouble. If you want to know, please just ask. Otherwise, you might get hurt," she whispered. She pulled back with a a very bright smile.

"Now why don't you join us and have some breakfast? And maybe we can learn a little bit more about each other?" Anolani didn't have any real problems with the girl - she didn't like people inviting themselves to private conversations. I like my privacy. What she was talking about with Rose was meant to be heard by Rose solely - no one else. Anolani treasured her privacy to the extreme.
