Mao shook his head. "You're beyond annoying. I told you already; those were only a few scratches. It would take a lot more than that to cause me any pain. Stop acting so... Motherly. It's not attractive."

Nathan blushed fiercely. "W-who said I needed to seem attractive to you, or anyone? Besides, if being annoying tells me when you need me, then I'll do it!" He paused. "Unless there's another way to make sure you'll tell me when you need my help...?" he trailed off, waiting expectantly. "S-since I do want us to be friends."

The statement upset Mao slightly, but he didn't let it show. He gave Nathan a look and stood up. He reached for a towel and glanced back at him. "Get out now!" he said; his tone was unintentionally harsh.

Nathan's eyes glittered as he stared at Mao. He didn't know what he'd said that was so insulting, nor whether he most wanted to cry or yell. He settled for shaking his head rapidly. "No. No way in hell. I want to help you, and I refuse to be intimidated simply because you're not the same as the others I help daily." He stated quietly, folding his arms but staring at the wall over Mao's shoulder.

Angered by his reaction, Mao grabbed a bar of soap that has next to him and threw it at Nathan. The object barely missed Nathan's head as it flew across the room like a bullet and finally split in half as it hit the wall. "I'm cold and naked! Get out so I can dry myself off and put some clothes on!"

"More like run out the window so I can't ever find you again!" Nathan muttered, turning around. "But fine, I'll face this way, and if I can hand you anything, just say so." he told Mao, folding his arms across his chest. "Remeber, I've had knives waved in my face before, so soap isn't going to bother me. Kill me, maybe, but not bother me!"

"Would you just get out! My fat a** couldn't squeeze through that tiny window even if I actually wanted it to. Besides, it's MY apartement. If anything I would just quick you out." He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist. He stepped out of the tub and sighed. "Now are you going to leave or do I have to..." As he was about to take another step forward, he slipped on a small puddle of water and fell back; hitting his head against the side tub on the way down.

Nathan turned around, ready to tell Mao again that he had no intention of leaving when he saw that Mao was on the floor. "s**t!" He hurried to examine the back of Mao's head. He knew not to move him, so he instead felt for a pulse and wrapped the nearest towel around Mao's body. "Hold on, I'm calling for an ambulance, don't move!" he told Mao, reaching for his mobile phone and unaware of the tears that were streaming down his face, unaware that his voice had a tremble to it as he spoke.

"Don't call a f***ing ambulance!" Mao said screaming despite the overwelming pain. "I don't need any f***ing help! Just get out!" He began to feel more and more lightheaded as the seconds passed. He tried as hard as he could to stay consious. He struggled to get back up, but the intense pain, along with Nathan, kept him chained to the floor.

Nathan growled, put the phone down on the floor and picked Mao up carefully. "F*ck this! You are going to rest in your bed, I am going to watch you closely, and if I find one single long-lasting problem I am putting you into the nearest hospital, SO DON'T ARGUE WITH ME!" He roared quietly, striding to Mao's bedroom and putting Mao between the sheets so he could wrap him up warmly. He went to find a hot water bottle, looking under the bed.

Mao was barely consious at this point, yet he still fought to remain as alert as he could possibly be. It wasn't as if he hadn't been used to the pain. The only problem he found was that this time he couldn't just allow himself to shut down and let his body heal on its own. He knew that Nathan would not accept this without any sort of worry. And besides, if he did that then he would be acting solely on instinct, and he feared that he might end up hurting Nathan. "Why don't you just leave?" Mao asked. "Why don't you just leave me alone? I'm nothing to you so there is no point in you staying here."

"You shut it. Now tell me where I can find a hot water bottle!" He demanded, oblivious to the complete and utter contradiction of instructions. "I mean, if I don't find it then you'll be cold, and then I'll have to get in with you and although that would probably be heavenly for me, you would think I was trying to grope you because you're ill no matter what I would say!" He finished and took a long breath, cheeks flushed as he determindly didn't look up at Mao. "M-maybe I like you, and want to make sure you're alright, since this is my fault for being an imbecile. Seriously, if you're well then I'll leave you alone and do my best not to hug you when I see you in the hospitals - a nod should be an okay acknowledgement of you, right?" His voice was quiet.

Mao closed his eyes and sighed. "No one's ever bothered to give a damn about me. Then you come along and act like I'm your long lost lover. I just can't understand why anyone would treat a complete stranger that way. I don't understand why you have this need to care about someone who should be your enemy. I can't stand the way you look at me either. Why do you look at me with such deep concern gleaming in your eyes?" Mao took a moment to gather his thoughtsand sighed once more. "Forget about the water, I'll be fine in a bit. It hurts, but it's not too bad. I just need an asprin right now."

"I-I don't treat strangers that way - n-not usually as though they were my lover...! Y-you're just... different. Usually they don't look after themselves at all, and whilst you fit that, you...you also have a job and are trying to...." Nathan mumbled, shaking his head before standing and heading for the door. Then he paused. "A-are the asprins in the kitchen cupboard or the bathroom?" he asked.

"They're all over actually. The safest bet would be thetop shelf of the hallway closet. Be careful though. I tend to keep a lot of things there."
