The ceiling above Yanisin let out a slow, grating groan, sinking a few slow centimeters lower. It seemed certain enough to hold for the moment, at least, but the security of the room was certainly brought into question by the motion.
And that wasn't the only thing moving in the room; above the fireplace, there was a familiar tinkle of babyish laughter and a wiggle of movement among the dark web. A few small forms seemed to be confering to one another, and a pair of sharp orange eyes watched Yani with intense curiosity from where the baby-sized figures roosted.

Yani spent the first few moments of being trapped in this sick parody of the HQ gathering space appreciating all the special effects the others must have put into this trick. It looked so real....even the ooze around the door made him wrinkle his nose in disgust, disturbed by the tang he could detect from it.
He was less impressed when the ceiling made a strange noise that sent a shiver up his spine. Wow, that sounded a little TOO real. He glanced upward hesitantly while also cringing. This really wasn't his cup of tea; Yani was probably one of the last fa'e in creation to voluntarily allow himself to have the crap scared out of him.
Before he could decide on a proper response to the buckling ceiling, giggles interrupted his thoughts and his 'daddy'-dar, as Jade affectionately called it, switched on.
"Dusty?"
The fa'e glanced around the common room with a little wrinkle above his nose and gingerly started to move forward, drawn to the fireplace where he saw movement. He had yet to connect the orange eyes with anything remotely relating to his daughter. Afterall, why in the world WOULD he?

The strands, Yani was able to note upon closer inspection, seemed to be almost like a tangle of dark hair, inexplictably attached to the ceiling and wall. The mass covered perhaps a six foot stretch of ceiling corner total- in the darkness of the room, it was difficult to see through the black clumps to the small figures within, even drawing nearer as Yani was.
At his approach, the giggling was shushed among the little figures there. There looked to be three of them up there; the one with the tell-tale eyes remained still, while the other two crawled off through the mass of strands to either side, watching the approaching Fa'e's movements with darker gazes.

"Okay, that's gross."
Yani's matter-of-fact comment was greatly offset by how he seemed to shrink back into himself, yet still move forward at the same time towards the massive 'spider web'. As the giggling stopped, the fa'e looked vaguely troubled.
"Dusty?" he tried calling again, then slanted his ears forward to listen carefully for an answer.
Usually his daughter came running at him within seconds of his appearance. He didn't know if she'd learned to play Hide and Seek yet, or this was an unintentional hiding. He kept his gaze trained on the black strands in the corner, letting it waver only to focus on the 'things' that were moving inside it. What the HELL were those?

This time, Yani got an answer. Unfortunately, it probably wasn't one he wanted.
Jerkily, something fell out of the spiderweb, dropping down immediately into the Fa'e vicinity. It was one of the figures he'd seen up in the tangle; tendrils of hair were wrapped around its limbs, dangling it around Yani's head. The thing- for, though it was the size of a child, even the same in build and general appearence, it could not be defined as any sort of human creature- was painted shockingly pale, the slim bits of light filtered through the dirty windows falling harsh on the white skin. Its eyes were huge and dark, never blinking and crinkled with a terrible grin. It was clothed in scraps of cloth, many different swatches that seemed like they'd been torn from various sources.
But there was one detail, one thing that made this thing not just disturbing, but downright chilling:
It wore patches. Not patches like clothing patches, but patches like skin patches. Or, I should say, fur patches; bits of black fur, skin still attached, stuck onto its arms and body and face. On its cheek, a patch of fur had a few gems stuck to it, brightly colored and all too familiar.
With a too-wide grin, the creature reached out to grab for Yanisin's arm, giggling in a high, mad voice.

The fa'e recoiled instantly as the white mass fell nearly upon him, teeth clamped to hold back a very unmanly squeal of distress, and would have flushed pale himself if he wasn't already stark white to begin with. The fa'e could handle scorpions and snakes, but this was like no animal he had ever encountered in his life.
"Uh...no thanks," he managed to gasp as the thing reached forward for his arm, yanking the targetted limb in tight to his bare, rain-soaked chest as the other hand waved about in front of him in a shoo-ing motion. He even considered trying to maybe knock it down until he managed to look at the thing long enough to realize, with a sudden flare of disbelief and anger, that there were gems plastered to the thing's face. Gems that looked like they should have belonged on his daugher.
What. The. HELL.
The queasy feeling in his stomach intensified but so did a flare of anger and he irrationally lashed out at the creature dangling like a macabre puppet before him, looking to latch onto it while at the same time giving a barked cry of "DUSTY?" once more into the otherwise empty room. He needed to know if his eyes were decieving him; those COULDN'T be Dustin's gems.

The creature gave no resistance other than to swing back nearer to the wall before Yani grabbed at it. It cried out in distress, making a noise comparable to the screech a bat makes when using its sonar. The thing seemed to be made of some sort of soft material, almost like cloth- however, there was no lack for strength as it grabbed out with hands to one of the Fa'e's arms, canvas-like fingers clawed to try and get the best purchase on his flesh.
One of the black patches of fur on its arms slipped off at the movement and plunked to the floor; those things really weren't that well attached, it seemed. Just like they were ripped off of something else, then stuck on the creature's own flesh.
Seeing its webmate in danger, the remaining dark-eyed dropped down in a similar fashion to the first, grabbing out for Yanisin's other arm. This one had the same patches of fur stuck all over its body- but, unlike the first, it had no gem-cheeks. Oh, no. This one had two gauntlets forced over its hands, and one cat-ear over one of its own.

As the bits of flesh slid from the body of his target, the fa'e sharply inhaled, eyes narrowing as his stomach clamped painfully into a cramp of nausea. His nose could detect now a familiar smell to the neglected fur pieces. When the second came down bearing the deer-kitten's characteristic gauntlets and a very feline-like ear, he lost it.
"You BASTARDS," he screeched in panic and outrage, fingers clamping tightly around the supple 'flesh' of the thing in his hand, squeezing hard enough to where he was sure it was going to explode and shaking it about at the same time. Among this, he also flailed at the other one to capture it as well. Nevermind he had no idea for sure if these things were wearing Dustin-fur coats or not...the mere though was enough to get the normally placid, non-confrontational fa'e into a frenzy.
"Where is she. WHERE IS MY KID DAMMIT, SO HELP ME GOD. ARRIEN!"
If Dustin had been here, Arrien had to be here and if that woman WAS here...this might be the only time Yani would ever voluntarily shed someone's blood.

Kia hurried along the path to HQ, occasionally staring backwards over her shoulder regulaly as she hurried along the path to the HQ as if she half expected someone to be following her, ignoring the way the cold air blew around her. Oh she'd dressed for this winter freeze. She'd covered herself from head to foot for this COLD COLD DAY.
So what if the clouds hadn't dropped snow and it was just a thunderstorm? Kia half felt like snow was just lurking up there with the UFOs in the darkness and she was freaking out already enough about the whole 'Dark all the time!' thing. It was going to be a fun Halloween.
At least she was at HQ now. HQ meant warmth, light and friends. And a chance for Kia to pull off all these stupid layers of clothing. She was already tugging off some of the layers when she put her hand on the door and was sucked in.
"...huh?"

Well, the dolls in Yani's hands didn't really explode at his furious maltreatment. They just sort of started ripping at the seams of their arms and bodies, making those high-pitched screeching sounds as they wiggled around. Black tar seemed to be seeping out from the tears in their doll-like bodies, matting up in Yani's fur and sticking to his hands. That was actually... very sticky. Hm. Like, superglue sticky....
The screeching intensified suddenly as a jerk came from above. A pair of spindly claws were grabbing at the thick hair tied around the two dolls; as the claws set to work hauling the marionette-creatures up towards the mass, Yani found himself being pulled up towards the dark threads with them. Stuck as his hands were to the now to the creepylings, it seemed he'd walked right into the trap laid for him.
Up in the spiderweb, the orange eyes were filled with anticipation, topping a wide smile as the little dolls giggled and the orange-eyed figure spoke up at last- "dADdY....

Yani was angry, and that was saying something, but he definately wasn't above noticing the nasty black tar material that covered his pale hands. He growled and tried to fling the tattered remains of the baby doll things, but was alarmed when they stuck fiercely to his palms and even more so when suddenly he started to get hauled upwards like a fish on a hook. He started to thrash, his angry replaced with terror.
Until the orange-eyed figure finally talked.
Now he was confused as all hell and scared to boot.
"Dustin?! Is...is that you?"

Well, someone had done something new with HQ. Kia stood there blankly staring at Yani, frozen halfway through the quick removal of her gloves, jacket and scarf.
And it wasn't just the look of HQ that made Kia freeze, it was Yani too in his rage that stunned her. Him, and how he was ripping up dolls. Dolls that giggled and apparently bled sticky black blood?!
She let go of all four items as the claw thing came down for Yani, dropping one glove that'd been tugged off on the floor forgotten. Even if he was acting crazy and wasn't exactly loveable Yani that she remembered, and even though Kia just wanted to turn around and risk the threat of snow, she was hardly going to let him be yanked up into some weird spideweb thing with orange eyes and a voice. She could try and get Yani then they could go outside.
Moving over the distance as fast as she could, Kia made a grab for his foot. Or leg. Or whatever it was that dangled down lowest!

Such interference was apparently not appreciated by the creature up in the threads. With an enfuriated gurgle of noise, it tried to yank Yanisin up further into the air, as if hoping to somehow draw him out of the reach of the Eygptian Fa'e. This was quite impossible, of course, with the low ceiling; Yani's entire lower section was easily within Kia's reach.
The creature of the hair, however, was not going to give up so easily on its catch.
"daDdY, pLEAsE stAy WitH mE...."
The tangle of hair before the creature parted, all of its own accord- and the face of his "daughter" was at last revealed.
It was gargantuan, grossly mishapen. The voice was coming from a face, a massive face, that was growing straight out of the ceiling corner- threads of flesh and tangled veins sunk into the woodwork above the fireplace, pulsing with malformed life. It was roughly the design of a human face, but it were as if a wax figure held too close to the sun, the skin was sagged and gnarled in many places. The spindly claws that were trying to haul Yanisin up were rooted right beneath the thing's neck, and the eyes- the orange eyes that had lured Yani close- were somehow fastened onto the things' lower lip, staring out at Yanisin even now. Where its own regular eyes should be, there was broken and bleeding flesh and two long clumps of hair, either of which led to the dolls now stuck onto Yani's hands.
The mouth, one might be quick to notice, was more than large enough to accomodate the size of even the adult Fa'e.

Yani felt like a rope between two pitbulls. He yelped as he was painfully stretched either way and thrashed his lower half until he saw who was down there. His eyes lit with relief.
"Oh god, Kia! HELP ME," he cried, swinging and spinning around fervently as he was continued to be hauled upward. As he looked up to see how far he had to the ceiling, fresh terror siezed his throat into a blood curdling scream. Yani, being the manilest of all male fa'e (not...XD) promptly fainted.

If there was anything Kia could do, it was cling, and she did. Even though he was thrashing about like a fish in a net, which was probably very close to what he really was.
She didn't even look at what was dragging him till he'd noticed her. Then Kia screamed as well. What was THAT?! She stared at the sight of the face thing, almost loosing grip of him for a second in her shock.
Then he fainted. Kia blinked several times and gripped tightly again, dragging at him hard down towards the floor, feeling sick to her stomach and forcing herself to swallow bile at the sight of it. But she could throw up later. When they were outside.
"Wake up , Yani, you need to ...I don't know, but don't faint!" She yelled at him as she tugged, wishing she had an extra pair of arms to throw things at the face with.
