Violet gave him an irritable glance for half a moment.
"I'm not claustraphobic! I was raised in a forest!" she said, her tone only a little less than what you could call snappish.
"I just... don't like crowds, is all, and I don't need to wait anywhere... but thank you," she mumbled.
Nevertheless, she didn't hesitate to folow him out of the city.
"What are these people?" she murmured to herself once the crowds began to clear as they headed closer towards to outskirts of the city.
She had never been to a city and was curious as to how people earned their living, for none of them seemed dressed to grow crops nor scavage nor hunt.
((Uhh.... light-skirt?))

Eric smiled, "Fear of crowds is just a debilitating as fear of enclosed spaces, and they aren't that disimilar." He glanced around at the people in the town, puzzled at her second question. "What are they? I thought you wouldn't ask that until you saw a town that didn't consist of entirely humans!" He glanced around until he spotted a large shaggy wolf casually haggling with a butcher over a cut of meat, "Uh well that one's a wolf, they can be members of a town too."
((a light-skirt is another term for a sort of prostitute. Hence Eric's embarassment. And I forgot to mention there might be inhumans in the town as well, but I'll put more of those in the next village.))

((Alright. Just double-checking. Thanks ^^))
Violet stared blankly at him. The only humans she'd ever seen were soldiers. As far as she knew, everyone made a living serving royalty and killing the enemy. As for towns and what creatures they were made up of...
She was more familiar with wolves than humans, anyhow. Although, a wolf arguing with a butcher over the price of meat... even she identified it as odd. Ignoring, of course, the fact she'd never known butchers existed. Not that she knew what he was, of course.
"I mean how do they live? How do they gather their food?" she replied, almost shyly in an attempt to clarify.
Almost. She still wore an emotionless mask although she fidgeted slightly.

At this point Eric paused to consider Violet a little more closely, "You've lived a sheltered life haven't you?" He took a deep breath as he pondered where to begin, "Well, all those tough warrior type people are the towns protectors, they get paid food and drink in return for keeping the deadly beasts away from the town, they also help maintain buildings and other hard labor. Some of the shops and er....ladies serve as tourist attractions. And actually this town runs a few bars and has a particularly well known smithy set up. They make weapons and metal utensils which are traded when merchants and mercenaries make their rounds. In exchange for which they get their grain and fruit. Some items such as meat can be hunted in the forests as well as fruits and berries and nuts. but that is a very dangerous task. more so even then protecting the town." he glanced again at Violet, 'Does that clarify a little better for you?"

Violet nodded, then flicked away strands of blue hair. Trading, she supposed, she understood. Protection was not unknown to her, and neither was the task of hunting. A smithy, however, and merchants and mercenaries she could not place. However, she'd used up most of her speaking ability for now.
Still, she could not help but muse over such things. Ladies served as tourist attractions? Tourists she understood because she'd seen a few, while hidden, of course. They were people who came from distant lands. So she supposed she was one now. But why would she wish to come to such a place merely because of these raggedly-dressed women she saw before her?
Scrunching her nose ever so slightly, she instinctively pulled her cloak closer around her shoulders. No. She preferred the creatures of the forest. Now they were truly worth seeking out and gazing upon.

As if reading her thoughts Eric proceeded swiftly out of the town, When he reached the edge however he was halted by one of the burlier looking men,
"Oi there stranger, jus' thought ya'd like a warnin' but there's been a rather large Gadmir 'ere abouts and luckily he's not started attacking the town folk but belike you're better off aware of 'im aye?" The man nodded gravely before allowing them to pass,
"Thank you good sir, I will bear that in mind, perhaps I might slay the beast for you should I come accross him."

Violet stifled her laughter.
Perhaps I might slay the beast for you should I come across him?
She couldn't tell where pride finished and chivalry began. Nevertheless, she continued onwards, grinning inwardly.

As they left the town, the trees seemed to rapidly close in on the road. Leaving it identical to the thickly grown forests around it. The slightly tramped weeds from semi-frequent travel were the only indications that there was a path at all. And when those signs disapeared the group had to rely on Eric's knowledge of the area, and trust that he was leading them towards habitation and not deeper in the perils of the woods. It was after a good 2 hours of travel that the paths became once again blatant and the road widened up in the surest indication of domesticity. The relief of passing safely through the woods once again was shattered as the town appeared through the trees.
Eric froze and his eyes widened in horror. The town of Kechei, a small but peaceful village which was mostly self-sufficient and not often toured now lay in ruins. Smoke still rose from the smoldering buildings. and Eric recognized the darker stains in the dirt and grass as blood. Here and there lay the charred remnants of the towns inhabitants. the metalic taint of death lay thick in the air. Finally shaking himself free of his own shock he whirled around placing himself between the town and Violet's searching gaze. "DON'T LOOK!!" He cried, trying to spare her the gruesome reality.

Obediently, she automatically shut her eyes, but the images were there already. Burned into her memory for eternity.
She shook with fear. What had that stranger said? A beast. A beast to slay. A beast reigning in its destruction. Could it have been the same creature? Violet knew and understood the way things worked in the forest. It was a quest of survival in which something must die. But destruction at such levels... was just one beast capable of all this? What kind of a world was this?
Although her eyes were closed, the sights she saw remained. She could smell the scent of dried blood and almost - or perhaps it was her imagination - feel the pain which remained embedded into the ground. Her face was deathly white and she was shaken so badly she was forced to fall to her knees.
What was this place?

As the great beast of fury stared at him, Eric stared right back. "Oh Yik!" He spat, "Why couldn't it have been a dragon?" Shaking his head to break the hypnotic gaze of Feralina's eyes his hand snaked out and grabbed Violet's arm in a vice-like grip. "Don't Run!" He hissed, his eyes still watching Firi warily, "Whatever you do, Do NOT flee. She will hunt you down and kill you if you do." He fully realized that with that option gone there wasn't a whole lot left that they could do. After a moment of consideration he released her hand. "Listen carefully," and she had to in order to hear what he was saying, "I'm going to see what I can do. If I can distract her or whatever. If her eyes turn red, then get out of here! I will try to give you time but the minute her eyes change you'll die if you don't leave." His tone was dead serious, and his face a trifle pale.
Straightening his shoulders he strode foreward, until he stood a mere 5 yards before the great beast. His eyes regarded her with care and not a little nervousness. Finally he bowed with a deep flourish, "M'lady Feralina, I presume? I am called Eric, The Dark. It is an honor to meet you..." The respect in his voice was genuine but his eyes never left her face. And the irony of such a gesture when they stood among corpses was not lost in his tone.

And the irony of such a gesture when they stood among corpses was not lost in his tone. Confused by the sudden demand, she couldn't help but open her eyes. She? Who was "she"? All questions were momentarily vanished from thought as her gaze met the great beast before her. And what did he mean by telling her to run off while he tried to distract this creature? She was used to living a solitary life, not one of cowardice.
Violet would have scowled, had not her current ability to move... Well, quite honestly, she just couldn't move. Paralyzed with fear, she wouldn't have been able to obey if she wished to. Never had she seen such a creature, and she had lived in what was regarded as one of the most dangerous forests of her world. But this place... Where were shiny red shoes which could grant you wishes when you needed them?
Nevertheless, she stared in awe at Eric, who stood, ready to challenge this... creature of destruction without knowing the outcome.
(( *Shrugz* Couldn't think up anything else... Sorry ^^; ))

Illusor Meaneld Illusor smiled ruefully at Leo, "We are not more than half-a-mile from the town of Parte itself, the town lies just over the rise," He said gesturing towards a small hill on the eastern side of the clearing. "But please do not become alarmed. They have never in all my years even considered to look for anyone here. With the town's infamity it does not even enter their minds that anyone who did not desire their unique attentions would live right next door." His grin became decidedly sly, "And since they have been hunting me down with a will since the very day one of them laid eyes apon me, this dwelling suits me perfectly." He beamed at Leo before turning his attentions to Lucien, "Mead? I'm afraid not, however I do possess wine, ale and beer. if any of those intruige you." "As for myself, thanks for the offer, but perhaps later." Leo paused as if thinking to himself. "Only a half mile from Parte? Well I suppose right under thier noses would be the best place to hide wouldn't it?" Leo smiled at Illusor as if sharing some inside joke.

Illusor returned Leo's smile with equal humor, then with a gesture encompasing himself he asked quietly, "Would you think they would ever leave someone like me alone if they could not find me?" He chuckled softly, "They are so accustomed to people fleeing as far as is mortally possible that it never occures to them to check so very close by." While he spoke he offered Lucien a small bottle of a vibrantly green liquid. One could smell the sweetly spicy scent even through the bottle. "Permit me to warn you young Lucien, that thistle weed in any form is unusually potent. this is diluted still, but I believe it will suit your palate. Please exercise restraint when partaking of Thistle weed or thispiked drinks."

(i suck at remembering to get on gaia, but dont hate me too much for it...)
Lucian watched as the two shared their private glances, then took the bottle, popped off the cork and took a swill.
the next thing he knew, he was gagging, and he didn't remember falling too his knees. "WOW," he spluttered out between coughs, "you werent kidding, were you?" He stood up, and brushed off the speckles off thisleweed wine that had found their way onto his shirt.
Lucian stopped, and looked speculatively at the bottle, then he shrugged and took a tentative sip, "Ahhhhh, MUCH better! so, whats the issue with this Paartay? from the sound of it, it sound like the right kind of place for a person such as myself. so whats there anyway? and why are they looking for you?" He said as he absently forgot what he was drinking and took another gulp, once again sending himself into a coughing fit.
