A bit late, but I think I know why blood leaves a metallic aftertaste.
Hemoglobin. The iron-based chemical in red blood cells that helps transport oxygen through your body.
(Video game side note: Roakians have copper-based hemoglobin.)

Sure was nice of SquareEnix to rectify that.

Sure was nice of SquareEnix to rectify that. Got myself a translated rom. Beatiful game, it really makes me not want to play DQ5 on SNES, which btw looks like a NES game. Ony problems is the battle controls.
