Syx held her back a moment. "Let'm have their fight, Hattie. They need to let out a bit of steam."
Svarlena watched the display with a cold look on her face. She glanced back at Hattie and Syx. "I came to earth holding quite a few questions, those questions have been rather clearly answered." She reached into her pocket, flipping the recording device around in her palm. Svarlena pushed play, watching Pen's image projected from the device. Her face held a soft expression, framed by a couple rust colored braids that she quickly swept back with a small flick of her hand. A sad smile spread across her lips as she started to speak, "Ja--."
Svarly quickly shut off the device, mid-word. "I'm going to be taking Gautrine home now." She stated simply, before heading out of the bar herself.

Eric stumbled back into the bar, bumping into Svarly on the way. A quick look at her, and Eric shot her a look, grabbing her wrist.
"Oh, ******** no. You're going nowhere. Your sister died, and I can respect your want for privacy, but unlike Jarred, I don't owe you s**t. We're going to the Naval Offices, and we're launching an attack, and you're playing intel."

Svarly pulled her hand back, "I saved your life, Eric. I've played my good cards. I don't owe earth anything, or you for that matter. Your Jarred just walked off without any care as to how or why she died. I'm taking her home."

Hattie looked back at Syx as Svarly pressed play on the Comm. A sadness clutched at Hattie, but she let it go. No amount of Boohoos would bring Pendari back from the dark place. She knew Pen wouldn't want her to be sad, either.
As Svarly left and was accosted by Eric, Hattie shook her head. She gave Syx an apologetic look before marching out and grabbing Eric's arm. "Eric, stop. It's Svarly's right if she wants ta go. She had a right to take Pen home and she doesn't owe us anything." Her touch was soft. "Please, Eric."

Syx followed after. "Rights be damned, if the kore chick can help us with this war, then we need to take advantage of that. Hell, isn't that what Pen would have wanted after all? And since when has Pen's home been anywhere other than with her friends and with Jarred?"

Hattie shook her head. "I agree that we need to fight the Kore, but Svarly needs a chance to grieve in her own way! We may grieve by screamin' and yellin' and punchin' each other, but maybe she'd prefer to do it another way!" She felt exasperated and slightly exhausted. She hadn't had a decent sleep in days.

((Maneuvering characters into tricky and unusual spots is always fun. Like how I cleverly got Jarred into the light and then out of playability in the same page!.. wait... s**t.))

Syx shook her head, "It's not like she can get far, Hattie, not in these clothes. " Syx pulled back part of Svarly's jacket, "Hell, it may not be a uniform but it's got the Kore insignia on the inside, on the cuffs. Anyone gets a close look and they'll know what it means. And your ship? It's a Kore model as well, am I right? Do you honestly think they'll let it fly outa here?"
Svarly pushed Syx back, her eyes narrowed. "If they want to throw me into a war camp, fine, but I won't go quietly. I don't give a damn about Earth. I wouldn't care if they wiped this planet as clean as they did Thesys.
"You want to devote yourself to vengeance, Eric? Jarred wants to devote himself to self-loathing? Then by all means. But I'm taking Gautrine home to have a traditional funeral and then spread her ashes on Eccacian lands." Svarly moved away, heading in a half jog back towards the star's light and her ship.
Syx rolled the recording device in her palm, which she'd swiped from Svarly's jacket without her noticing. "So by a vote," She said, looking from Hattie to Eric, "Do we give this thing to Jarred or not? I know it's what Pen wanted, but what Pen wants doesn't really mean squat at the moment."

Hattie watched Svarly tussle with Svarly. "Pen woulda wanted Jarred to have that." She motions at the Comm. "He needs to get it. Svarly, if you want, I''ll take you and Pen's body where it needs to go... But I won't dom it without her friends. She meant a lot to us, too, you know? You can't just show up here barkin' orders like we're Kore soldiers." She gave Eric's arm a squeeze.

She and I could have made it off of that ******** ship and left you to die. Right now, I can't figure out why she chose you over herself. Take your ship, and get your sorry a** off of this planet. Your sister's staying here, with the man she loved, not with some turncoat, two-faced b***h that seems to think she knows what's right."
