User Image Kia felt a stab of pain run threw him, as he felt her mention the death of her family, even if it was long ago. "I'm sorry to hear about that. I didn't mean to bring up things from the past." But he thought to himself, 'at least you have a past you can remember, unlike me.'

Then the second part of what she said sank in, "But didn't you say that only Werewolves existed? That means Vampires can't exist. I have a heart beat, and... and..." He was grasping at straws at this point. Being a master of the undead didn't sound very appeasing to him.

On a lighter note, he was glad that everything was taken care of. His family might worry, but at least they didn't think him a monster, yet. "Sorry to hear about my sudden case of unusual anemia. And I hope you weren't too close to your lost cousin." He smirked at this last point. He would try not to think about the other things yet. Just eat and try to act normal, whatever that was now.

He poked his meat with his fork, looking at it in a leery fashion. He did notice that it was fully cooked, which made him happy. He also noticed she didn't say what the box was, so he figured either he didn't want to know, or she didn't want to tell him. Either way was fine with him.

User ImageKalia tossed the box of blood into the fridge without bothering to open it and sighed, "The past is dead.. worrying about it only causes you to lose sight of the present..." she said with a shrug, "Don't waste your sympathy on me... I got over it a long time ago..."

Kalia laughed, "Half the tales about Weres are wrong... why do you think it wouldn't be the same for some other 'mythical' creature... But our only main characteristic to go off of is the need for blood... and that is consistent even if the legends about vampires varies..." she said reasonably. She pulled a necklace from out from under her shirt and showed it to him, "I'm not lighting on fire..." she said holding the silver cross for him to see before letting it fall back into place.

User Image Kia shrugged. "I never thought of that. But you have been around for a while, and your little council seems to have been around longer than that. Wouldn't they know if vampires existed? And maybe something that the other were said might help." Kia figured it was about time he presented his thoughts, poking the steak again with his fork. He didn't have much of an appetite. his stomach was still revolting from the thoughts of drinking blood, even though he did it no less than half an hour ago.

"I was wondering if you could research the term Altrist. That other were kept calling me one of them. I don't know what this Altrist is, but if the other were thinks I'm one of them, then it might be work looking into." Kia poked his meat again. He was tentative on eating it. Anything meat related was making him think of blood. Thinking of blood made his stomach turn. Which in turn made him not want to eat. Maybe he should think of becoming a vegetarian?

User ImageKalia shrugged, "Aren't there new species discovered even though man has been looking for nearly as long?" she asked.

"Not hungry?" she asked quietly, "You can go up stairs and rest... if you want I can fix you us one of the spare rooms..." she said thinking she needed to practice a little more to calm her own nerves.

User Image Kia realized that he hadn't done anything but poke his food so far. "No no. This is fine. I'm just not use to steaks in the morning. Not typical breakfast food." He poked it again, to make sure it wouldn't 'moo' at him. It seemed fully cooked, so he finally grabbed his knife and cut a section out. Holding it up with his fork, he looked at it a moment, the ate it.

Dispite seeming that she wasn't use to cooking her meat, it tasted surprisingly good. He tried to push away thoughts of his real 'breakfast', and the events of last night. "I feel the need to move, to run. I guess I can't do that from a hospital bed in Philadelphia, now can I?" He was trying to ease his own mood with a sense of humor, but was failing. He needed to run to help him think. All this sitting was starting to get to him.

He was now working on his second piece, as he was surprisingly hungry. "It might be true that man finds new species all the time, but vampires I think would stand out after attacking a few people for blood, or my case of anemia would be considered more normal, instead of the only case like this they have ever seen." Kia was now on his third piece, which he didn't even noticed he was eating as he was talking. Being fully cooked, it didn't have any taste of blood, so he was finally starting to divert his mind from those events. His fangs where still sharp however, which caused a few awkward problems from time to time, as he caught his fork into them, or a piece of meat got stuck. It was difficult to eat like this. If they didn't go back soon, he would have to start filing them down. It was getting a little ridicules. Not to mention, he wouldn't be able to walk around town like this, or if he did, he would have to not smile or open his mouth at all.

User Image"If you want we can go running later..." she said, "The woods behind the house are private property and fenced off..." she said finishing off her tea and putting the mug on the counter.

User Image Kia nodded his head, "That would be good. I'm feeling cooped up in here." He had actually finished the steak by now, which had surprised him. Last he knew, he wasn't but half way though.

"So, what do you do around here? Surely not just take in stray people who get hurt too easily." Kia wondered what she did as a guardian, and what she was doing here specifically. This was a safe house, which means she didn't live here all the time. It was rather perplexing. Here she was, helping him, but what was she really doing here? He didn't want to be getting in her way. Surely she wasn't there just to help him. Might have been about that other were, maybe. But the other were didn't show up till recently, and no other reports of attacks had been stated in the news paper. How could she have known he was there? "You said... safe house... what are you doing here?" He just came out and said it. He might regret it later, but he had to know.

While he was eating, Kia didn't realize that his teeth had returned to normal. Appearently, though he didn't know it, not thinking about blood or drinking it helped, and the distraction of eating and talking removed the immediate desire. He still needed more blood, but he was at a stable level now.

User Image"I was assigned to this district... without any specific orders and what ever the Council's reasons I feel you are a part of it... and if not you still deserve protection under the council's laws from rogues..." she said leaning back on the counter her arms wrapped around her waist, "You wanna go running now rather then later?" she asked at last.

User Image Kia smiled. Running was something that he enjoyed. It cleared his mind and helped him consider the though questions. When he was running, the wind would calm him. It was when he had to stop running that he went crazy. He often would try to skip treatments because he would be truck inside on a bed for hours on end.

"I would rather now than later." He smiled. Seemed as though she enjoyed running as well. This was a good thing, as he hoped she could run as fast as he could. Maybe the run would help him feel stronger, though he still felt weak. He would try to ignore it. If he showed how weak he felt, he had a feeling that Kalia might call of the run through the forest.

User ImageKalia glanced at her clothes and hmmned, "To change clothes or just shift..." she mused aloud, "Any objections to running with a wolf?" she asked at last.

User Image Kia thought of it, "well, as long as your sure no one will see you, I have no problem with it." He then had to amend it, "As long as you can still talk too. Then maybe we can figure something out about all of this." He got up from the table, his plate empty now.

"Your place, you lead," Kia said. he didn't know the paths of the forests, and didn't want to get lost. Then again, he also didn't want to outrun her. He was confident he could keep up with her, no matter what form she was in.

Then it downed on him. He hadn't seen her in her other form. Well, technically he had, but it was dark, and he didn't get a good look. Back then though, the thought this was all fake. With two attacks, there was no way it could be, not to mention the other events that had happened over the past night.

User ImageKalia normally would have just striped and shifted but he seemed a bit body shy so she went to the bathroom before changing out of her clothes and into her wolf form.

She padded gently back to the kitchen, her body was a light carmel color and her whole form was delicately built for a wolf, emphasizing speed rather then strength. Giving herself a quick shake she stretched and said in her normal voice, "We can head through the back woods and take a couple laps around..." she said a took off at a very easy pace, "You can set the pace..." she said.

User Image Kia followed along. "You look... good... like that..." Kia blushed a little. It was funny. Most girls couldn't get him to blush, no matter how much they flirted back with him. To him, they where all playing a game. This one seemed different.

Snapping out of his revere, he started to walk behind her through the house. "A couple of laps will make me feel good. Just being able to move helps." He would have to see what she was able to do. She looked like she could run fast, but how fast was the question. Maybe she only ran as fast as the rest of the track team. He hoped not. He wished she could run faster. No one else in all his track days could beat him, unless he let them. He did that occasionally. There was no reason to bash someone, especially when some of them worked so hard for it. He had enough gold medals, he could miss a few here and there.

As they walked outside, Kia was greeted to the soft dirt on his bare feet. It felt good to be outside. The sun was bright in the sky. He didn't burn up, nor did he turn to ash. Either those were myths, or he wasn't a vampire. He hoped a little for each, for he wished he wasn't a vampire, but he also did at the same time. Maybe he was some were still... maybe a werebat. That could be it. But then why didn't he ever change form? Why did he not have wings? Too many questions, not enough answers. "Well, you run the first lap so I know where the trail is."

On the roof top however, a shape was lurking in the shadows. The smell of cologne was still strong, despite the fact he had dumped himself into a nearby fountain to get the reek off him. His nose still burned from the stuff, but he knew no other were would be able to smell who he was from it.

When the back door opened, he ducked into the shadows more. He had found his pray, but she was still with him. Then he looked. Why was she in her wolf form? Was she going to kill him now too? The council would probably once they find out his true nature. Maybe he should leave his revenge to the council...

When the thoughts of doubt in his mission flashed through his mind, an intense pain did too. Never mind! I'll kill him! I'll kill him! No one else can! But I can't, not right now. Stop this you stupid curse! He thought all this. His curse was self inflicted. After his mother, father and sister where killed by the beast in human form, he turned to magic for answers. In his studies, so long ago, he found a curse spell to give him powers. Casting it on himself, he thought of one thing, unwavering revenge. his curse gave him the powers of a werewolf, but it also granted him a weakness. He had to get revenge. His sole purpose was now to kill the murderer of his family. He thought he had freed himself of this curse four years ago... but his target still lived.

It took four years to figure it out, and several newspaper articles from across the country to figure out where he was hiding. He was good, to have tricked an enforcer into guarding him. Very good. To hide amongst the humans as he has for the last four years was uncanny of him. And the fact that no one in this town had been killed by him must have taken much restraint. But it was all for nothing. He would die... tonight while he slept. Not even the enforcer could stay awake that long. All he had to do was keep his cool and wait for the moment.

User ImageKalia's tone was challenging, "Who said anything about a trail?" she asked impishly before darting into the underbrush over tree roots and around trees, a fluid blur, but much slower then she knew he could run, she caught the scent of cologne again and sneezed to get the smell out of her nose, as a wolf her sense of smell was much stronger and she had found it over powering as a human.

User Image Kia shrugged his shoulder, then ran after her. She was fast, but not as fast as he was. He pushed after her, catching up rather quickly. "So, you call that a run?" He taunted, then pealed on some more speed. He was now easily in front of her, a wide smile on his face. It really had been... well... no one had forced him to run even this fast. he knew he could run faster than this. It was fun to have a run like this.

Then it downed on him, the other night, he was running full out and still couldn't outrun the were that attacked him. Maybe it was a pack after him? Could they really run that fast? Well, only one way to find out. Kalia didn't seem the type to just let him win a foot race like this. She would probably probe him back to see how fast he can run compared to her.
