Daeron smiled faintly at Lin, glad that she had changed the subject.
"I've been traveling pretty much everywhere," he replied in a tone far friendlier than it had been the moment before. "Northland a bit, scouting out the dwarfs and such ... Eastland, visiting Pen and Seeker ... Westland, visiting Aunt Amalthea and her family ... and some of the Southland cities, Uncle Gion ..."
Pretty much everywhere except for Tor Karad, really.
"Still haven't found a travel companion though," he added with a bit of a frown. "No one wants to keep constantly on the move. Not that I can blame them, but I just can't stay in one place for more than a few days."

He really had a case of wandering feet Lin mused absently, not that she could blame him, it was much more interesting to travel. Though it must be hard not being able to find anyone to travel with.
Maybe he needed a pet.
"I can see how that would be difficult," Lin mused thoughtfully, "Well there's still a chance you might find someone to travel with, but it sounds like you have fun visiting."

"Most of the time," Daeron agreed. "I'll be the first to admit that I wish I could see more of people, but they go on with their lives whether they see me or not. I've never felt unwelcome, but I have felt as if I'm intruding. After all, when I visit people, I can't give any warnings or anything."
He shrugged. "Perhaps that is why I'm doomed to a life of wandering alone."

Lin hadn't thought of it that way, of course she went to train with Earendil, so she kind of had a life in the Southland even if she showed up without any warning what so ever.
"Are you lonely?" she had to ask.

A faint sprinkle of colour appeared on Daeron's cheeks, and he laughed softly, trying to shrug it off.
"What gives you that impression?" he questioned.

Lin couldn't really explain it that well, but from the way Daeron talked it did sounded like even though he couldn't help traveling a lot, he was lonely. Like he wanted to have someone there with him.
"I don't know..." she admitted, "It's just when you talk about visiting and being with people, it sort of sounds like you would like company."

Daeron smiled ruefully. "Yes ... but who wouldn't want company? Who could spend their life alone? Look at Aragost. Even he's seeking out company now. We're not meant to live our lives alone. But I can't stay in one place, and who wants to spend their entire life on the move?"
Besides himself of course.

"Someone who's like you," Lin replied, "You can't be the only person in the world you likes to travel and always be on the move."
That or a small.. tiny, tiny part of herself also said that maybe there might be a day he would want to stay in the same place, but that was a romantic side of her she tried to shove into a box and put into her mental closet.
It wasn't a practical way to think, even if she did induge in it.

"But how many others are suitable travel partners?" Daeron challenged in return. "So many of them are fools, and even though they like to travel, they aren't suited for it. Some of them have a real talent for getting themselves killed, or nearly."
How they survived was beyond him.

Lin sighed well there was that, but personally and the practical side of her was talking, if you weren't suited and nearly get yourself killed how could you enjoy traveling.
"Normally I would find nearly getting killed unenjoyable, so I can't help you there seeing as you'd have to be pretty sucidical to want to go traveling still after nearly getting yourself killed.. or whatever other trouble you happen to be in."

Daeron shrugged. "They find guides and guards," he guessed, "or else they have sheer dumb luck. I don't know. I don't particularly care. I just care that they're not with me and getting me killed in the process."
And he still was trying to find people who didn't want to travel with him just because he was the prince. Sixty four years old, he still found his title more of a burden than anything else.

Still... if you werne't good at it, Lin couldn't imagine it being much fun, but that was just her, personally speaking. Though if that was the case she hoped that the guards and guides got paid well.
"Good point," Lin mused, "Well... who knows... maybe someday, like I you've been doing this a long time, but you never know."
Miracles do happen.

Daeron chuckled softly. "Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, anyways," he grinned. "I do appreciate it."
He tilted his head slightly. "And what about you?" he asked. "What about your own travel companions? I know now that you're grown you'll be off with Earendil soon enough ... but who else?"

"Shiro, Kaito and Ura are coming as well," Lin replied knwoing that they would like the challenge as well, "But.. I don't know how else for this coming trip or the trips after."
She looked thoughtful for a moment and then shrugging.
"I mean of course when we go sailing we'll be with a lot of people, but as far as just travelling on land I don't know."

Now it was Daeron's turn to look thoughtful, and a playful grin teased around the corners of his lips.
"Maybe I'll tag along," he shrugged, "if I happen to be in the area."
As long as they didn't take long in each city they were visiting, he couldn't go too crazy, he reasoned.
