You forget about 'Brock's good for nothing father'.
Actually, there's a lot of baby mama drama going on in Pokemon. Brock has to support about ten kids, Ash doesn't seem to have a father, and neither does Gary. In the video game May's father stays in their old town to play cardgames battle trainers.
