RESEARCH TEAM

"Johannes." nodded Johannes as well towards Archer's direction. "And thank you."

When he was about to ask for his name, Johannes was interrupted by Wraith, who had also decided to come with them. What a surprise! Johannes wondered whether this might be interesting or stressful -- after all, Wraith was almost never seen by people. That, and he was the chief along with Shee.

This could be awkward.

Wraith had gone on ahead, and Johannes followed. In a low voice, he then asked Archer: "I didn't catch your name, mein Freund."

AT LOTUS

He hadn't moved for a while, mostly because he'd passed out somewhere along the way, and it was only natural that he didn't respond to what was being said or done to him either. For all that Einar's memory could recall he was still in a seated position on the floor, facing all the others, while being badgered with the same question over and over just phrased differently each time. Oh, and he was yelling too.

No time had passed at all, surely not even an hour at most, and he wasn't being medically treated while a foll-hardy group boarded a plane and set off towards Poland with a crack mission in mind to capture Audun.

But a lot of things had happened, Lai was long gone with one of the harpies and people he didn't know, and Einar was laying on the floor and just...dying.

"-home like?"

Why he had heard that, why that question stuck in Einar's ears now, was unknown though it probably had to do with the fact it was directed at him. His eyes slowly fluttered open even with his mind still in its semi-there state, and though it had probably been at least six or so hours since she'd asked, Einar answered as if she had just spoken.

"It's really bare - hardly anything naturally grows. We have a few forests left in the far north, but even those are withering and dying with each passing month and year. The ground is hard and inhospitable, our crops no longer able to grow in such soil, so most of our food is imported in from other nations. We have no seasons anyone, no rain or snow. Norway is a country of ruin."

He stared straight ahead as he spoke, as if talking about home was one of his few joys left in the life he had now, one of the few things he wanted most to do. The color that had slowly returned to his cheeks during his time of rest now faded away quickly, a sign that even speaking was a chore for his wounded body, but he still continued to talk.

"It wasn't always as bad as it is now, though. When I was younger we still had lots of forests and even animals native to our region, but that all started to change around the time I turned fourteen. By sixteen our nation was bereft of all things that once belonged to us, and the people of the nation were starving. That's when we decided to do what our ancestors had done before - invade. Thus, our War began."

He stopped for a moment turned his head a little, his eye narrowing like he was looking for something. When Einar couldn't find whatever it was, he spoke again, this time much louder.

"Where's Lai?"

IN POLAND

"Ah, I hear 'em. They're coming, they're coming."

Audun quickly pulled the last string tight as the whirl of an airplane overhead graced his ears and caused him to glance to the sky, his eyes taking in the sight of a small plane far above him, and he grinned wildly as a low chuckle began to form on his lips and in his throat.

It had taken them about the same amount of time as he'd predicted, perhaps an hour less, but everything was going smoothly and he had it all arranged like he wished it to be. While those in the plane were unprepared for what they were getting themselves into, Audun had made the ground entirely his home playing field.

In the time he'd spent between Einar showing up and leaving, and then his challenge to those at LOTUS, he'd slowly rigged the area around him to better his chances at throwing the people on the plane a wonderful welcome party.

"Hopefully Einar isn't with them - hopefully they were dumb enough to come along. Actually, I can count on him being left behind, as he would not want to be moved and would try to live as long as he could. The a** has too much spitfire to give up and die that easily, no matter what he says."

He kicked a rock over as he walked towards one of the largest walls in the area that was left standing, and he took from his pocket a piece of chalk that had turned pink over time thanks to whatever else dwelled inside the pouch. He wasn't sure what he was going to write at first, but as the plane drew closer he could only think of one thing to say.

oiyo~ welcome!!

Audun scrawled it as large as he could, the letters awkward thanks to him weakness in English, but it got its point across. He tossed the chalk to the side as he took a step back to admire his work, and then with a final laugh he moved to hide behind one of the few remaining trees.

Now, he would wait.

TAKE CARE OF EINAR TEAM

User Image "Raai with peopre to capture bad persson" Hyo anwsered at his last question he heard. The boy's mood was going gradually down as he was listening to the man's story. How could such a place exist..? Just what happened to make it like that?

But this wasn't the time for such questions. He had a feeling the question about the Kind Spirit was important to the man, and that any questions about grass and trees would clearly lose importance next to it.
So he waited for him to continue.

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM

Seven hours. Seven hours had now passed since they departed Nepal for Poland. An inhale of the cool air inside the plane felt shaky and Lai was sure he felt his ribs vibrating, even for a breath so shallow. His hands kept on quivering as he adjusted his backpack's straps. Just awhile ago (it only felt like an hour or so) Lai had removed the bottoms of the straps from the bag, inserted them through the belt around his stomach, and repaired them. In his mind, the bag being on his side would mean easier access to the plethora of items located within it. Especially the knives. As a person who cooks the Russian knew and was adjusted to the feel and weight of each blade. If he needed, he would defend himself with one in hand.

Still, if I must throw them, my accuracy is no good and there would be no way for them to come back to me or for me to retrieve them without getting injured.

Nothing he could do about that now. Lai had chosen his weapons and he would have to deal with them. His eyes traveled to the bow Mokoyis had brought and he was grateful to the woman for doing so. Soon after his last gaze at the weapon the plane began to descend. His fingers flew to the seat belt and he didn't remove it until after they had fully landed. The Russian stood and with a flick of his wrist undid the clasp hiding the cargo of his bag. As he was about to look to the other members of this rag-tag team he caught a glimpse of the world outside from his window. So strange, so vastly different than the world from whence they all came and his own time. There was a rushing feeling in his heart; that feeling of wanting to save the man he loved so dearly. Save, protect, and love to the fullest extent of his being. It only increased as he laid eyes on the "welcome" scrawled on the wall. His eyes darkened and he turned to his comrades, fully aware of the promise he made to Mokoyis.

"He is taunting us with a welcome message. We must be quick and remember he is unpredictable, but please, I do sincerely think he has laid out "surprises" for us." Sadness hit him and he didn't care if they saw and judged him for it. He was sure by now they were well aware of his relationship and love for the Norwegian man back in Nepal. "Do not let any more casualties happen, please be careful.

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM

Eponine stopped when she saw the shaky letters written. WELCOME.

Why would he be welcoming them, if he was trying to hurt them? "Maybe this Audun person isn't so bad?" Eponine hazarded. "I mean, that's nice of him, saying welcome..." Wait, or was it some human thing? Like sarcasm? But you couldn't be sarcastic in writing, could you, not without "[said, sarcastically]" written on the side of the line. Oops- maybe he didn't mean- "Uh, nevermind, actually," she muttered.

To her shame, the first thing Eponine looked for was a place to hide. But she did notice something peculiar, which she quickly said aloud. "Isn't it sort of weird, how there are... Only a few trees around? I thought that this was supposed to be 'forested with lots of growth,'" she said, quoting a guidebook.

She listened to Lai. "Surprises- you mean.. Traps?" she asked uneasily. "In that case, what should we look for? Will he have... Motion-activated lasers and heat-tracing missiles?" she gulped. "Or just like... Pointy sticks?" An idea flashed across her circuits. "I was wondering. Maybe we can roll a bowling ball in front of us?" Wait. That sounded stupid. "Or.. Some way to trigger the trap?"

Idly, she wondered that if she should fall, would she be counted as a casualty?

RESEARCH SUPPORT TEAM

Estrelas nodded understandingly. Normally she would have made a huge fuss, but the severity of the events seemed to have put quite a damper on her.

"Yah, yah," she said, picking up the bowls and putting them on her huge tray. She once bought food into the library and was promptly shouted at, but she did follow the Research Team down and set a pitcher of water and lots of cups to the side, in case they got thirsty like field workers.

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM

At Eponine's guess at what 'surprises' meant, he nodded. At her next words he shook his head, not knowing what to expect.

"I do not know what those things are, but since both he and Einar are from a time a long way after my own, I cannot imagine what he has laid out for us to stumble on." He kept looking at the girl as she spoke, nodding to her ideas. "That would be a good idea, but instead of the singular form, I believe there will be multiple traps laid. By looking out the window there seem to be plenty of rocks for us to toss in front of ourselves, plus it looks like rain. Maybe the rain will uncover some of the traps for us, but since it is darkening out, did anyone bring a light? We will need to see before us and with possible traps laid it would be best to have a light amongst us."

He looked to the remaining team, his eyes flicking between them before casting down to his left side where his leather bag hung heavy. He removed the clasp just before, but now he uncovered the opening. Lai could see the metal screws in the handles of the blades glinting dully in the overhead lights. His needles in the pin cushion also shone, a more vibrant sparkle than their deadlier counterparts.

Archer stiffened and hastened his pace to catch up with Wraith. As usual, when under the command of a superior, he seemed to grow six new coats of formality. "My name is Archer Wells." he murmured back to Johannes so as not ignore him. "Come, let us hasten to the library." They had considerable work to begin on and little time to do it.

Medical-ish Team?

As soon as one saline bag ran out, Lokiari switched it with another. The bags were going in quickly, about an hour and a half to two hours per bag - she'd need to see if someone could get her some more, because she was running low. But then, she wasn't really sure anyone but Shee knew where they were - and she was preoccupied with working on prepping the transfusion - which he'd need soon. The Norwegian woman was preoccupied with her thoughts and prepping another bag as he began to talk and so mostly drowned out his words. If he was talking about Future Norway, she didn't really even want to hear anyway. When he mentioned the word "Lai", though, her ears pricked up and she glanced around the atrium. He must've gone to Poland, then, and as she glanced back at Einar she wasn't positive she wanted to tell him just where his loved one had run to. Einar was bleeding to death and she didn't want to agitate him any more than was necessary. To do so would only speed up his heart and bring him towards death ever quicker.

A mild wince crossed her face when the Korean person spoke up and mentioned he'd gone to capture the bad person. Hopefully, her fellow Norwegian would not take it hard and as soon as her bag was hooked up properly to the line, she glanced back over at Shee, "Ready with that transfusion yet?" A thought darted across her mind, and she wondered if the last few people present knew their bloody type. Hers was O+, so she couldn't donate to Einar, but if anyone was able to...they'd need their blood, too. "And Shee, do you have any way here to test people's blood type?" The odds of finding another person with O- were low, but time was running out and every random chance counted for something.

RESEARCH TEAM SUPPORT

Oh? Oh what? Posseytive? What?

Estrelas felt a little bit intimidated by all the highly-advanced medical jargon spewing from everyone's lips. Even little Hyo seemed more knowledgeable to Estrelas.

The man, Einar, mentioned Lies. Funny how- she winced as not-so-patient patient seemed a bit upset, so she quickly bustled over, trying not to get in the way.

"Don't worry! No one is lying here!" she said, then picked up her tray again. See?" she asked, carefully staying clear of whatever that string they were attaching to Einar was. The Portuguese wasn't sure what it was, but it looked important, even though it wasn't even as big as a rope.

RESEARCH TEAM/MEDICAL TEAM

Wraith swung open the large double-doors of the library impatiently and strode to the open, airy middle of it with agitation. He produced a pen and grabbed a few sheets of pristine, white paper from a nearby cherry wood table, settling into one of the five large, upholstered chairs that circled around it. He looked up briefly, his eyes flickering from Johannes to Archer and back again.

"So, what do we know about what happened to Einar? We need a place to start."

As Lokiari had set up the tubes running to Einar, and Shee had now collected as much blood as she felt safe collecting from Abel, she shifted over to the dying man. Quickly connecting tubes, she made sure everything looked alright before she began the transfusion, and blood began to circulate through the previously clear tubes.

She bit her lip as Lokiari spoke. They really only had basic medical supplies; although she'd made it a point to educate herself about some of the finer points of treating people, she tended to shy away from the more technical science of it. But she did remember Wraith telling her, when she'd asked, about blood types...

He'd said it was based on immune responses... antibodies. She had a vague idea of how laboratories did blood typing, recalling a thick, dusty volume on medical procedures that had thankfully contained lots of pictures. They didn't have what was needed, but...

Clearing her throat, she spoke tentatively. "We could... maybe we could if enough people did know their blood type for sure? We just need someone who's a type A and someone who's a type B."

CAPTURE AUDUN TEAM

Alberto began to fiddle with the strap on his own bag, which he had stuffed hastily under the seat (in order to keep himself from messing with it during the flight). Being the one who had gathered the supplies, he only hoped that they were prepared enough. As the others in his party began to go over ideas once the plane landed, Eponine's surmising at the possibility of traps struck a chord with him.

Audun, whom was a possessive, imbalanced individual (given the impression the boy had of him already), likely would have set a number of them. As he looked outside onto the barren land, the stark, awkward message of "WELCOME" made him feel slightly uncomfortable.

When Lai asked about a light, Alberto perked up. Luckily he was prepared for that much; during his digging for supplies, he'd stuffed a couple of flashlights into the box of general supplies, as well as what looked like a few radios (or so he assumed). His own bag was filled with leftovers from his days before LOTUS as well as some fresh supplies: a small first aid kit, a coat, emergency rations, water, and most importantly the rifle he had found (along with accompanying refills of bullets, but only two small boxes would fit). He was a better distance shooter than a close range attacker.

"I brought some o' those.. lights I mean," he said to Lai, jerking his thumb towards the supply crate stuffed into the corner. "There's also a couple 'a radios, 'n some binoculars, too." He paused for a moment and let the strap of his bag fall from his hands. "We can't wait too long though.. Einar said this guy doesn't wanna be caught and we don't wanna give him too much time to get away."

It was a shallow jab, he had to admit, but he was mostly hoping the mention of Einar would set the others into motion. Other than heading out and beginning the search for traps, Alberto's mind was ready to work on the fly. But they had to keep Einar in mind - he was the reason they were out there, and their time was too limited for them to be idle.

"Tryin' to trigger the traps from a ways away.. would probably be a good place to start." He nodded at Eponine in agreement.

Mokoyis joined everyone else at the wondows. "Talk is good, but we wont get much acomplished by staying on the plane." The Elite was feeling antsy, she had been sitting for too long and wanted to get moving again. Even if it meant spending time springing deadly traps. Eponine did have a good point, but she wasn't sure how to go about it. There was a good chance there was something near the sign as it would be the first place they would start looking- that is what she would have done. Of course she was sane(ish) and this Audun was not.

~Welcome. She snorted, she had never seen a less welcoming place. The ground was barren, and there were only a few trees scattered around- probably dead.

"Lai will come with me." She said as she reached for one of the radios, she had noticed the tightening around his eyes as he surveyed the region. Turning to Rodney she spoke again, "Perhaps we should tell Shee we are here now?"

Even though a great of time had passed, Del was still upon the floor, sitting beside the motionless body of Einar. When she didn't receive a response from him, she came to believe he was already deceased. But hearing his reply brought her panic down. Shifting as her rump was feeling numb from sitting upon the floor, Del cupped her hand over her mouth. She muffled her response, but clearly stated, "How horrible..." Del took heed of Einar's voice, which sounded low and croaked within her ears. But when it filled with life with a question, Del nodded her head with a reply. "Yes, yes. He went...fight A-Auden-evil." Del voice was somber as she spoke, not wanting to raise it higher than a whisper. She knew Lai meant much to Einar, so it was quite obvious he would be worried. Her mind wanted to reassure him that everything was going to be okay. But this wasn't some Dreamland where everything said was going to be true. Reality was terrifying after all, since the unwanted could happen.
