Adele didn't really care about who this guy was, where he was from, or what the hell he was doing here. Ayra and Maiara and pretty much everyone in the damned room were her friends at this point, considering the circumstances, and his intrusion was less than forgivable. She sheathed her axe and turned around to flash a brief, reassuring smile at Maiara. Then she lunged out, seized Jaren's throat forcefully, and, throwing her full weight behind the motion, slammed him against the nearest wall. With the raw power the berserker had, it would hurt. The wall reverberated with the force.
"Shut up. You don't get to talk. Just...shut up, and sit there until we call on you." 'Sit there' wasn't a request, it was a command, and her hand with its grip upon his throat tightened and thrust him down into a seated position against the wall. The other hand grasped the dualscythe strapped to her back and removed it, just in case he wanted to make a further scene. She made quite sure he noticed the lethal weapon, and then she turned back to Ayra.
"Now, where were we, again?"

So the sage's name was Maiara. Leon would have commented on how lovely it sounded, had they been in any other circumstances. But the prisoner was acting out, people were getting (understandably) angry and nothing seemed to be going right so far. To top it all off, the revelation that the others in the Watch probably didn't make it out was looming.
In short, the lieutenant wished to Archanea's Hero that he had a glass of wine now. At the time he felt he needed that more than anything.
"Geez..." He muttered, his eyes shifting first towards Adele and then Ayra. "You'd think some'un tha' is in irons'd be quiet..."
He had no way of telling what would be an appropriate time to introduce himself either. At this moment, names didn't seem to matter.

Jaren hit the wall... hard his head hit the wall and he saw stars he tried to keep his feet as the hand around his throat tightened causing him to sputter a bit before being forced to the ground. Dazed he sat stupidly for a second on the ground.
Eventually he regained his wits and managed to stand up again. "Ok look you crazy girl! I'm tired of being knocked around and your apparently hormonal buddies! I showed up here on my way home and saw a guy in armour and a monster I assumed the worst and I attacked! But I apologized for that and he didn't get hurt! I got put in shackles" He raised his hands again. "And thought my life was in danger! And unless you quit acting like an idiot it still is! From what I can put together Eyris... my home! is in danger! and all of you stangers are sitting around doing nothing! I Don't know what happened and none of you look like your going to tell me OR start treating me better any time soon. So you know what? I'm going to Eyris. Im going to fix whatever problem you were to stupid to fix yourselves! For all I know one of you is the cause of it!" After Jaren had said his peace he turned towards the door and somewhat unsteadily (Still dizzy from Adele) opened the door seeing the Mauthe dog outside he was to angry to remember he was creeped out by them and aimed a kick at it.
He turned to face the group again. "Im going to save Eyris. Feel free to sit in this nice cabin while I'm at it." And then slammed the cabin door. Taking two steps outside he rembered the shackles. Looking down at them he moaned once. "I cant go back now... I'll have to find another way to take them off."
And with that he began to walk towards the woods towards Eyris fully intending to solve the problem.... after finding out what the problem was.

A black gauntlet seized what was to Leon the shoulder of a scrawny myrmidon. It wasn't like Jaren could make it far shackled and in a blizzard, as a matter of fact, with all that bravado, he just managed to step outside where his horse, Anri found some nearby cover. "The 'ell ya think yer doin', lad?! Don't'cha get th' reason why Lady Ayra an' 'er friends'r 'ere?! We LOST. 'nderstand?! We LOST. Tha' Mordache half-masked freak an' his damn sal'mander came in an' prob'ly killed all m' com'rades! All o' em! Even Cap'n Dan... who was th' best. Yain't th' best, boy." The knight was now raising his voice to a shrill yell, just to get the message through his prisoner's head.
"It means ya dun' stand a ghost o' a chance! None 'o us do 'nless we r'cover..." A calming grief came over the Lieutenant's voice, and then he backed away, standing in the doorway and looking back only once. "But if ya wanna go an' join th' dead, be m' guest, boy." When he said that, his voice was barely a whisper. Then, the memories came to him... how none of his superiors never once used his name until just before the seige hit and he was ordered to evacuate others. "Boy" was always his name too. Thinking about it made his despair ever the more deeper, due to the fact that just when he'd earned respect, the people who had it for him had to be taken away. Just so quickly, so... thoughtlessly the Mordache Wyvern Lord had done this! Only blood could pay the debts Siegell owed to Eyris, Leon decided.

A hand fell on Jarens shoulder and squeezed "Nngh" He winced as he listened to the Watchmen's words.
"I know i'm not the best dammit! I'm just some idiot with a sword! but at least I'd be doing something other then hiding in some damn cabin waiting for someone to save my a**!" Jaren shouted. Suddenly what Leon said sunk in and he quieted down. "W-wait.... we lost? Like we where attacked.... no way. W-what about the guard.... the watch? My home? It's all gone?! And this Siegell guy is the cause...." Jarens face darkened as the cold snow fell on him. "I'll kill him... I'll tear him to shreads." What had he been thinking an army was in his home there was a blizzard and he was still shackled. Noway could he do this.. he was just one man.
The tears came unbidden. He looked at Leon scared and confused this knight was the only sane thing the others in that cabin were all that was left of Eyris. "D-derrin... please have made it out." He raised his hands and wiped away his tears smileing at the knight.
"L-leon was it? I'm sorry... What do we do? C-can we go back? We cant let Eyris burn... Maybe your friends are still alive?" Jaren felt like something had changed inside of him... he didn't think hed ever be able to get it back either.

Rei simply stood, hands trembling as shouts and bickerings echoed. He couldn't keep his friend from dying, why would he be able to stop these shouts? But, before they manifested into a headache, things dispersed. The idiot with the sword was gone, and everything had turned into a tense, awkward semi-silence. The myrmidon's words, his accusations, his insults echoed through his mind. This random little wretch took it upon himself to say things like that to people in situations worse than he was in? He sighed, pulling a grain of truth from his words. "...I'm going. Those of you who want to come with me, feel free to follow." Rei tidied his things, giving Adele a nod towards Nils before making his way to the door, mentally bracing himself for the rush of cold that came as he opened it.
Rei slammed the front door behind him, Nils's corpse still sitting inside. Adele would surely carry the boy, her strength being more apt for the task. Indignant embers burned in the boy's eyes as his motions moved towards the pair of Leon and Jaren. In one quick burst, Rei had slapped the myrmidon across the face with a tome, making sure to jab him in the face with the sharp corners of the cover. With a sharp breath, his hand was cloaked in dark energy as he punched the sniveling man in the stomach, making sure that his magic would increase the pain. "Don't try to downplay the losses of others to make yours feel more important, boy," Rei sneered, contempt in his voice and rage in his eyes. Not even giving the swordsman a look in the eyes, Rei turned around, and started walking away, away from the forest, away from Eyris. He turned, giving a glare at the swordsman and the knight standing beside him. "If I ever see you again, I'll kill you." Rei maneuvered towards the hut, knocking on the window before giving a beckoning wave to the inhabitants and continuing onward. He would heal Nils, even if he had to rain endless destruction upon all of creation to do so.

Maiara rubbed one hand against her elbow, only capable of watching the unfamiliar boy storm out of the cabin, giving the Mauthe Doog a hard kick along the way--Maiara had to resist the urge to leap right at him for that and plant her foot halfway up his urethra--and the purple-armored man follow him. She ran one hand against her brown ponytail, letting out a small breath of air uncertainly. This was the time for someone to take charge and make decisions, but she had only just arrived; it wasn't her place to bark orders. Was it? No one was speaking up, and Maiara could practically feel the awkward tenseness settle on her shoulders. "I think--" she began.
"I'm going. Those of you who want to come with me, feel free to follow."
Maiara's golden eyes followed the green-haired boy out of the cabin. There were two options: Follow the boy in his quest--the black-haired woman (had anyone said her name? Maiara couldn't remember now) had mentioned retrieving a staff, right? Something about being able to revive the little dead boy, whom she still couldn't look at without feeling a twinge of nausea deep in her stomach--or stay here in the cabin with the others. Help the kid--an irritated, pretty snarky kid, Maiara had to admit--or stay where everyone was walking on pins and assumed her to be some sort of spy.
Well, s**t, the answer was obvious.
Maiara grabbed her staff into both hands, shouldering open the door to step out into the open air. Was that Mauthe Doog still around, or had he run off after that kid kicked him? Maybe--
Maiara stifled a yelp and immediately felt the shivers rattling down her spine. Good Lord, it had gotten even colder since she got out of the wind and into the cabin! Maiara wrapped one arm around her upper body, feeling the fine, nearly invisible hairs on her exposed belly stand on end. She looked over to Rei, then scanned around for the Mauthe Doog again. If he wasn't still around, she would just have to hope he was all right... stupid kid...
You'd think he'd realize that if someone from Magvel, of all places, would be able to accept a Mauthe Doog that isn't instantly attacking them, someone else could, too... Maiara let out a sharp breath through her teeth and lifted her hand, muttering the words of a memorized Fire spell. The flames materialized over her palm, swirling and licking at the cold early-morning air in a neat sphere. It wasn't enough to fully warm her, but her upper body, at least, didn't feel quite as numb. It would have to do, unless the Druid had an extra cloak she could borrow. Without speaking, Maiara then walked after Rei, her boots crunching down the snow beneath her heels.

Needless to say, the poor beast was unutterably bewildered. He'd been shifting uncomfortably and pacing back and forth with all these new two-legged creatures coming as they did. There was one in particular who had startled the mauthe doog, some wild-eyed nutter with the obvious intent to attack, but that had ended sooner than expected and the mauthe doog had eventually returned to pacing.
The opening to the human den had opened and he raised his head. His memory was well enough for him to recognize the human he'd been following around, the one who gave off the impression of a female, and he stood away from that opening nervously with his tail halfly tucked. His eyes watched her gestures and he began to believe he was being ushered in. But then the slab of wood shut, sealing him out, and the mauthe doog stood in a confused daze.
He sat down again and curled up in the snow. Food was still on his mind, yet the beast was uncertain as to what he could be hunting. The human settlement seemed especially empty.
The wild-eyed stranger had returned with a vengeance. He yelped as something collided with his ribs, scrambling up and darting away from the human. In his bewilderment the beast merely tucked his tail again and whined, but as he saw it was the hostile human rather than the female or the others of the pack he'd traveled with, his tail unfurled and his hackles rose in a growl. The mauthe doog growled after the man and tensed his body for a pounce.
That didn't happen. Others came out soon after. Distracted and a bit intimidated, the mauthe doog bowed his head and slunk off to stay out of their way, regarding them with frightened crimson eyes. He didn't know what to do. They were an extremely curious species, yet he knew little of their ways, let alone how to get into their pack as an accepted member. There was no way he would return to any other mauthe doog. And the human who'd kicked him was starting to change that.
He again glimpsed the female who'd tried to invite him into the human den. Almost instinctively, the mauthe doog moved forward, ears flat and tail low as if to appeal to her. This one he liked the most. She'd actually attempted some interaction, something the beast was able to pick up on.

Maiara halted on the snow-strewn grass, acutely hearing the crunch of dead grass below another set of feet, despite being still. Rei was getting farther and farther ahead, but those steps were behind her; someone followed her? Maiara turned to see who else from the cabin had come along and found instead the mauthe doog from before. Where had he been lurking around? Maiara cradled the flames in her hands for a few moments, then knelt down and reached out one hand, letting the Fire dissipate into the wintry air.
"There you are," Maiara said, smiling. He was a curious fellow for sure; he seemed more like a lost puppy than a bloodthirsty, snarling canine like the mauthe doogs of Magvel. They had been few and far between in a desert country like Jehenna, but they had appeared, and not once had any of them exhibited any sense of self-restraint.
Or compassion. Or really any emotion beyond "Kill everything and eat the dead things like we're carrion birds."
Maiara took a second to arrange her skirt under her knees, then reached out and rubbed her palm against the Mauthe doog's furry head. "You doing all right? That kid looked to kick you pretty hard." Maiara smiled a little, the expression almost wry with the way the corners of her mouth curled up towards her cheeks. "I wouldn't worry too much about him. That p***k got at least a little sense beaten into him, and I don't think he's even tagging along with any of us."
Maiara stood, rubbing one hand against her arm, making her bracelets jingle; she stopped just moments later, as the motions made the cold metal repeatedly knock into her already-chilled skin, making the situation even worse. She took off her bracelets idly, like the dog would care that she was removing one of her accessories. "You coming with us? Or are you sticking around here? I'm going with the green-haired kid, but there are plenty of people staying here in the cabin."
Maiara knelt down again. Was it really smart to be acting like this around what was supposed to be a bloodthirsty creature? Every interaction she had had with one of these beasties had told her that they should be acting completely the opposite of this guy, but... it was just too strange to ignore. He really was more like a puppy than a killer. He was even following them instead of trying to keep company with his own. "Do you not have anyone else to go to?" Maiara wondered, more voicing a thought aloud than directing anything to the canine. She reached over with both hands, one rubbing at the fur along the side of his neck while the other scratched behind a pointed ear. She sat in silence for a minute, letting the warmth of the Mauthe Doog's fur heat up her chilled fingers. Maiara tilted her head to the side, studying him. "I wonder what you'd look like if you had a more even coat of fur..."
Maiara trailed off, realizing she couldn't hear Rei's footsteps any longer. She startled to her feet and turned, one hand immediately going to hold her skirt over her legs; Rei was far now, out of earshot, but not out of sight yet. "s**t, that kid walks fast," she muttered, turning to Charon. "If you're coming along, then get running," she suggested before sprinting after the boy. The white skirt flared and rippled around her, revealing a right leg of a curiously darker shade of brown every so often.

Jaren had been talking when some tiny little kid came out and hit him in the face and then the stomach. Bent over Jaren coughed. "He better hope I don't see him first. My problems aren't as bad as his? Little b*****d doesn't even know my name." He straighted up with some difficulty and looked at Leon. "My friend Derrin is still in Eyris... I don't know if he made it out okay.. You have friends there two right? Maybe we should ask some of the people in the cabin if they can come with us.... we can be sneaky... Please... Derrin could be hurt. Hed come back for me." Jaren said with desperation in his voice.
"Please?" He asked again.

"I went an' tol' ya already, boy." Leon said, still not knowing the young man's name through this whole course of interactions with him. The knight remained somber throughout his speech, as if he'd never again be happy. "It's true, we got friends an' fam'ly back there. Goes 'gainst m' own code o' honor... but if we 'scaped, they did too. They're somewhere, if they be wise. We can't go back for 'em, not now. We gotta get outta 'ere, for now... but the day'll come."
He looked towards the myrmidon, and then towards his horse, Anri, grabbing the steed's reigns to calm him. "The day'll come when we make evr'y last one o' them pay for what they did. Now, go 'nside. I'll r'move yer shackles... an' watch over th' shelter. That Druid boy's a headin' somewhere t' fetch somethin'...." he chilled as he thought of the slain bard. "Jus' b'have yerself from now on, got it?"

Jaren looked back towards Eyris with longing as Leon spoke, when he looked back his face had changed to show a man hardened by many tragic events. "Myself.... you wouldn't want to see myself...I don't want to see myself.... I promised Cade I'd be happy... but if I don't feel anything then how can I be? I am what I am in my pursuit of happiness. If I try what Cade suggested then maybe I'll be like she was.....happy." Jaren looked into Leons eyes and dropped his outer shell for a moment.
A horse riding along the sand. A women with her face torn off. A green haired man with hard eyes looking on a pile of corpses and spitting.
All this could be seen in that one tortured gaze that he gave Leon for the slightest moment. Then it was gone as Jaren strode back towards the cabin calling over his shoulder "I may go about my search for happiness the wrong way. But it doesn't matter. It's the only way I know.... it's the way Cade showed me you should look at the world. Some armour their hearts with silence and anger. I armour mine with stupidity and clumsiness." As he reached the door he slid on the ice violently towards the door and collided with it. Laying on the ground for a moment he suddenly popped up his customary grin plastered on his face. "Ow! So hows about you open the door for me these shackles kinda make it hard to pull it open!" He exclaimed. "I suppose your right maybe we should wait here for the others... they'll bring back an army for us won't they!"

They were everywhere, still fighting. He didn't care.
There were people dying, all dying. Corpses here, corpses there. A face was squashed under his foot. He didn't care.
He'd cared, once, an eternity and an hour ago. He'd had hope, at that same time. Now the man was dead. The one person he'd cared for was dead. These people didn't matter to him, they were unimportant. Stupid, silly, petty little faces in the crowd. A figure tried to run by in horror; his knife flashed out, slamming into the figure's stomach, slicing across and releasing the guts to spill on the ground. Then, he kept walking, allowing the other to fall to their knees, staring in horror at their insides spilling out of them. He ignored it. Did they live? Did they die? Didn't matter. It was only life.
He used to wish he had life.
That castle, there. It had once been the place he was led to believe would soon be home. And it had been... inviting, at least. Now there was blood, and death, and the stench of ripped and torn flesh everywhere, permeating the air around him. It didn't matter. It was something he would come to know, and know very well, if he was to kill that man. That would be what would consume him, inside and out. Death. He would have to become death itself.
Why was he still here? He wasn't sure. He should have been gone, long ago, away from this place and its things and its memories, the few memories that he had, that was. But no. He had returned, even after the bishop had died in his arms. After he had escaped from this place with his dear friend. He had come back because.... why? He had felt something. It was as if there was something he needed here. Something he MUST have before he could leave.
But.... now, he wanted death. Now, he wanted to come upon someone and fight and not stop fighting until his muscles quaked and could no longer even hold the slim knife he still held. He brought said knife to his lips and licked it, cleaning the blood from the blade. That taste... that would be the taste in the mouth of the wyvern rider when the morph was done with him. But it would wait. Someone else would die first. The morph's first kill in centuries... it would be amazing to do such a thing again, and he was sure it would be quite amazing for the one subjected to it as well.
These two were talking, ahead of him; one was a healer. But not just any healer, it seemed, from the tome at his side; a Sage that was a healer. The morph's face slipped into a dark smirk. Killing one healer was as good as killing several of their normal troops; for those troops would be saved if that Sage were there to heal them. However, there was this swordmaster... he would have to eliminate that one first. Two, when he'd only wished for one. This was ever so much better...
The morph slipped into their path without a sound, white cloak fluttering back in the icy wind. He wore no shirt beneath; but he showed no signs of cold or discomfort. "... No further." His voice was cruel, with a hint of a laugh in it. "This is as far as you go. As far as you will EVER go." His face showed complete confidence, and a sort of haughty cruelness that could have been carved from stone. Though the only blade he seemed to carry was that small knife, he did not seem to worry about the blade the swordmaster carried, or the sage's spells. "You will die right here." His voice carried a matter-of-fact tone that could not be denied; it was as if he were saying "The sun will come out tomorrow." It would happen. There was no other option. The small blade flashed up, the morph settling into a fighting position. "... Come at me. This is your one chance to save yourself, child."

"I just... did." Akihi lamely replied, looking away from Joshua. What he said was the truth; he literally just got up and ran. There was no explanation for his actions, and he didn't try to conjure one up for himself. I helped that person, Aidan. That's all that matters...
"Hey, good job out there... So far, you've saved two people, then."
He cracked the smallest of smiles. "I guess I have, haven't I...?" The end of his staff pressed into the ground with each step he took, leaving a small, circular indent alongside footprints.
"... No further. This is as far as you go. As far as you will EVER go."
Akihi's heart threatened to stop right then and there. Gulping down the tight knot that formed in his throat, he turned his head around. His hand tightened around his tome as he slid his arm off of Joshua's shoulder, standing firmly on his own two feet; he forced himself to look straight at the person who steeped right in their path, the one with the voice that sent shivers rolling down his spine.
The color drained out of his face once his eyes fell on the person in front of them. His finger wedged itself into the pages of the tome, enough so opening his weapon would be just a tad bit easier. After all, I don't know when it'll be necessary. The assailant had some sort of knife in his hand; the sage was uninterested in finding out the specific details of the weapon. Since he was a magic user, his physical defenses were naturally lower. And he looks like he knows exactly how to handle that thing...
"... Come at me. This is your one chance to save yourself, child."
Akihi took a single step backwards, his head spinning. He didn't want to die. It wasn't his time, he firmly believed! I... I can't die here! I can't! I have to live...! The tome was flipped open quickly; with a few murmured words, a warm, red-orange glow surrounded his hands. He willed himself to calm down. After all, being tense would do him absolutely no good. His breath began to slow, his mind becoming less and less hazed by panic with each exhale. He could fight now; he wouldn't hesitate now. His life was on the line.
Still, he refused to strike.

"I guess I have, haven't I...?" The words brought a smile to Joshua's face oddly enough... the boy reminded him of Artur, quiet and unsure, but strong where he needed to be. "He shouldn't need to be here." Joshua thought not for the first time.
"... No further. This is as far as you go. As far as you will EVER go." a man with a knife was blocking the path. Joshua listened to the man silently as Akihi took a step away from him, taking a sidelong glance at the sage Joshua frowned, the boy was ready to fight but he would never be the one to strike first he just wasn’t like that… Joshua would have to make the first move.
Tired and cold Joshua was... looking at the person in front of him and his shirtless body made him colder still, a fight might not be good right now, but it looked unavoidable.
"Akihi... looks like we didn't get away from them after all... But we're going to stop this guy from hurting Eyris all right? The castle may have fallen but... we can still fight for our home." Joshua spoke loudly as if the man wasn't even there, "We're going to fight for your friend... think about them if you have to."
Joshua had been slowly shifting his feet placing them behind him so he could lunge quickly as he spoke and now he shot forward with the speed that only a swordmaster could posses, his undone jacket billowing out behind him Joshua closed the distance quickly stepping close into the knife range, he hoped to startle the opponent as he slashed at the man's face quickly from right to left bringing his arm across his body, twisting with the slash unsure if the man had blocked or not in the heat of the moment Joshua pivoted around to the strangers left incase the knife tried to counterattack, Once he was facing the man’s unprotected side his sword flashed out again in an attempt to sever the mans arm This time he was thought he hit something whether knife or arm though he wasn’t sure but it would have been an interesting feat had the man somehow gotten his right arm over to his left side to block. After his attack he backpedalled away out of the mans knife range and adopted his favorite fighting stance... his sword above his head angled down with his left hand at the back of the blade, crouched Joshua smirked at the man.
If Akihi had been watching he would have noticed that Joshua was simply trying to get the man's attention and his knife out of a guard position so the Sage could make an attack if the Morph had dodged his second attack he would have to have jumped to the right... hopefully meeting whatever attack the sage had prepared.
