Joker dropped back onto his knees. "Don't fret, dear Rosie. I'm not going to let her do anything to you. I won't let her hurt you again. She won't use you again. Not while I still draw breath. Unlike her, I believe in the value of family." After all, he was once a husband and soon-to-be father... Well, in ONE of his past lives, he was. Once again, it could be a complete lie. But right now, it was the truth to him. Because he chose to believe it right then. "I'm going to protect you like you were my own child."

Rosie looked back up at him once he finished speaking, her eyes glassy by this point. The thought that Gossamer didn't really love her...it hurt. It really hurt. "You....you really think she'd..." she said quietly, again unable to finish what she wanted to say.

"I don't know," the Joker admitted, "But then again, neither of us thought she'd betray me, either. I am NOT going to take any chance on that happening to you. I refuse to."

Rosie was quiet again for a long moment. Any thought she had before of Joker hurting her friends or possibly wanting to hurt her were nonexistent at this point. Right now he seemed like the only friend she had. "What are you going to do?"

"I'm going to start with something I had intended to do before your mom and I fell out." The Joker reached into his pocket and pulled out the snubnose pistol that he had bought for her what seemed like forever ago, and offered it to her, handle towards her. "I'm going to teach you how to shoot."

Rosie looked down at the gun a moment, and seemed rather hesitant to take it. Slowly, she unwrapped on arm that had been hooked around her doll and gently grabbed the handle of it. "....easier to hide in my pocket..." she said to herself, remembering what he had said after she had been caught with one of his guns.

"Exactly," Joker replied with a small smile on his face. "Not as good range as one of mine, but I doubt anyone going to try to do you harm long range. Too much effort to waste on a little girl. Besides, its size makes it more of a defensive weapon, anyways, and you don't seem to be someone who'd want to use it unless you had to." Standing back up, he held out his hand for her to take. "Come along now, my dear, we're going to start with the basics. Loading and marksmanship."

Rosie looked down at the gun for a moment, then wrapped the arm that was holding it back around her doll. She slid down off of the chair, then looked up at him again. With her free hand, she gently reached up and took his waiting hand. "Okay." she replied, not sounding near as nervous or upset as she had before.

Walking into a kitchenette clearly made out of the old club's bartending area, he opened a drawer that contained an assortment of things that the Joker apparently thought were neccesary kitchen items, such as a butcher's knife, a couple sets of silverware, a revolver, a rubber chicken, and a couple boxes of pistol ammunition. The boxes were what he had been looking for. He pulled them out, closed the drawer again, and continued to lead Rosie into the club's interior. In a disused dressing room, there were several clothing mannequins lined up along the back wall, all of which were riddled with bullet holes and other various projectiles: a makeshift firing range. There were sheets, egg cartons, boards, and other items placed all along the walls in an attempt at some kind of soundproofing. Nearby the door, there was a table and a few chairs. Joker led Rosie to this table, and gestured for her to take a seat. He also placed the ammo boxes on the table.

Rosie followed him up to the table, then climbed into one of the chairs placed in front of it. She placed her little gun on the table in front of her, then turned and carefully sat her doll in the chair beside her so that it would be out of the way. Once she was done, she sat herself up on her knees so that she could easily see over the table, and turned her attention towards the boxes Joker had set on the table.

"Alright," Joker began, opening the first box, "To open the revolver for loading, press down on the little button between the trigger and revolver. The revolver will hang off to the side once you do this." He pulled out two rounds, one very obviously a normal bullet, the other colored red.

Rosie picked her little gun up again and looked a minute for the button. Finding it, she pressed down on it and watched as the the side of the gun moved open, revealing small slots to load the bullets into. She looked at it a moment, then over at the bullets that Joker had pulled out.

Joker picked up the normal round, and placed it in front of Rosie. "Your typical .45 caliber bullet. Common. Easy to use. Boring as Hell, but effective. As you can see, the visible bullet on the casing distinguishes it from my trick shots, as they do NOT have bullets. Place it in the chamber, but don't close the revolver back up just yet."

Rosie nodded and picked up the small bullet. She looked back down at her gun and carefully placed the bullet in the first slot. Once she was sure it was in, she looked back up at Joker with a small smile.

"Now, on the front of the revolver," the clown continued, "Is a small shaft. If you press the end of it, the revolver will release the casings. This is how you unload your spent shells so you can reload. Go ahead and do that now, and then place the bullet back in the revolver. This is just so you know how to do it. We'll go over it again once you've actually fired that round."
