And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

Name: Partridge (I dunno, it just seems fitting. XD)
Word Count: 741
Prompt #: 3
Prompt Response:

Share? Share?!

This woman had to be insane. Crazy! Out of her mind to want to share! Partridge's collection wasn't for sharing. That was most certainly out of the question. All the pretty little things that had been collected, or perhaps more like swiped, and stored away in the pear tree just scattered to the wind. All of that hard work going to waste.

All Partridge could do was look at the pear tree. The little trinkets sprinkled here and there that glittered and shined. It almost brought tears to those bright green eyes. The thought of others stroking and cuddling them. Touching them. The very idea and visions of it in that quick thinking mind made the fur on the back of Partridge's neck stand on end.

Well, there certainly had to be a way to stop this all from happening. If only...

And then the thought came and the tides of ideas came flowing into the Pala's mind. Only one way to fix this problem. To thwart the crazy woman into giving away all that the pear tree held. Hide them.

In the middle of the night, when everyone had fallen asleep. Partridge quietly snuck over to where the pear tree stood in all its wondrous glory. Careful not to make much noise and wake her, the Pala took each trinket one by one, sneaking out of the room and carefully placing them in random spots. In the dirt of potted plants, the bread cupboard, sliding the thinner things between books and into small places. When the task was done the tree looked a bit more barren than Partridge had imagined it would. But at least everything was safe!

Giving one last look to the handy work and making a little round about to check to make sure everything had been concealed well, Partridge returned to bed. Giggling lightly now that everything seemed safe and secure. She buried herself beneath the blankets. Quickly falling asleep with a grin on her face.

Wouldn't she be so surprised to see how much there was to share now?

The morning came quickly and as the sun's rays filtered through a slightly open curtain. Sunlight hitting the Pala's eyes caused a stirring. Bright green eyes popped up and Partridge quickly sat up, giving a sleepy yawn and a stretch before hopping out of bed and running out to peer at the tree. What she found sent a wave of disbelief running through her body. Everything that had been hidden was neatly put back in place.

The woman Partridge had been staying with and had gone completely made about sharing wandered through the door to the kitchen. A grin on her face about as wide as Partridge's had been when the cruel task of hiding everything had been done.

Shocked and confused, she plopped down onto her bottom. Staring at her feet in disbelief. Now, the woman had only accidentally found one of the trinkets hidden in the bread box. And so she got the right mind to go searching for the rest since the pear tree did seem a little bare. And wouldn't you know it she found every single trinket and treasure Partridge had hidden.

She chuckled before kneeling down in front of the Partridge. Giving her a light pat on the head. "Oh now see. Don't be upset. I know you like those little things but it'll make you feel a lot better to see others happy to receive gifts as well."

Partridge could very much disagree. The only one who'd be happiest with all the pear tree's hidden treasures would be Partridge. A light sigh passed through the Pala's lips as she looked mournfully at the tree.

Well, there would always be more things to put in the pear tree. But Partridge had grown so fond of what was already there. If she had to give up things so other people could be happy, then fine. But Partridge would make it heard loud and clear that she wasn't happy about it. Not one bit.

Seemed to her like the lady could deal with giving up a few things as well. And that idea brought another grin to her face. Indeed, if she had to give up things that were so beloved to her well then the human could give up things that were beloved to herself as well.

Time to go find a few things, for the spirit of giving.

And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

Name: Pera {Pear in Italian}
Word Count: 486
Prompt #: 3
Prompt Response: Oh, what a beautiful little treasure that was! I hung it onto the tree. It was a ceramic angel Pala, with shimmering golden wings. I delicately placed it onto me tree, patting its head before climbing back down the stool I perched upon.

My name is Pera. I positively love to collect. Well, what do you expect? I'm a Pala, after all. My first treasure was a glass moose with a string around it, given to me by some old dude who said it was because of this giving season. Whatever.

Of course I collect. The woman I stay with says, "We need to share the joy! Quit stealing anything you see that is shiny! Well. I do not steal. I simply collect from others though they do not know it.

I gazed up at my beautiful tree. It glistened in the pale moonlight that peeked in through the window. "No....No! I can't let her!" I stuttered aloud. These things would not go! Who cares about those stinking poor people? They seem to do just fine without my treasures.

I stared at the top of the pointed tree. There sat a small plush Pala, collected from a toy store. It had beady eyes, and its fur was cotton and soft. I couldn't let her take him, at least. I climbed the ladder up to the top and snatched him away. Ha. Take that, lady.

With the Pala in hand, I stalked up the stairs, thumping my feet as loud as I could. I marched into bed, and snuggled close to the plush. If I couldn't convince the woman, I'd have to force her. I grinned a little as I drifted into a deep slumber.

~~~~~~~
The next morning, the woman came with a big plastic bag into the tree room. I dashed in front of her, blocking the way with the stuffed Pala dangling on one side. "Get away!" I shrieked.
"Pera...." she began, but I whipped the stuffed Pala into her face. She spluttered out fur and the plush fell to the ground.
"Don't you see? These are my treasures. The tree is too lonely without their company. I need them." I explained, exasperated from the terror of my precious tree being cruelly torn apart.
"I'm sorry, Pera." She stepped closer.
"Stop!" I warned again, a growl rising in my throat. I couldn't take it any more. I tossed the bag over her head, and tied it tightly around her knees. She fell over, and I let her breathe by loosening the ropes. There, on the table, I finally say a little teacup. It would be perfect beneath the angel Pala! I snatched it up, and delicately hung it over a branch.
That was the last step. The woman gasped, and the tree fell over completely, smashing every last treasure. All that work. Patience. Tedious bargaining. Sneaking. Wasted.
All because of the stupid giving season.
And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!
Name: Perdicinae
[a subfamily of Phasianidae, a scientific classification family of birds which contains partridges/pheasants. But frankly, I JUST THOUGHT IT SOUNDED PRETTY~]
Word Count: 359
Prompt #: 1
Prompt Response:
"One Inen's trash is another Inen's treasure", that's what I always say.
Well, ok, so perhaps I borrowed that line for myself, but it's not like anyone can really come back and claim it, right? The fact is, regardless of stolen saying (or whatever), it's true. What one Pala may treasure, another may trash. And that's where I typically come in.
Oh no, don't get me wrong. I love shinies just as much as the next gal. Anything that sparkles or glistens tends to be a definite desire in my book, but what many of the others don't realize is that there's alot more to the shiny business than just jewels and coins. What they tend to bypass can sometimes be really really good stuff!
Take this pear, for instance. Now, hold it up to the light. You see what I'm talking about?! Why, when the light hits it, it just shines! Like some kind of freshly polished stone! See, that's what the others don't get. They'll walk right by these things and don't even stop to examine them. But that's okay, because that means more for me, hehehe. I don't mind rubbing and polishing off a few objects here and there, if it means I get to have a new hoard of pretties!
Alot of edible things can be really pretty to collect, but the best part about those is you get to eat them if you ever get hungry or tired of lookin' at them (or need more space, like I sometimes do!). And no other Inens try to take my stuff, which is quite a relief, let me tell you! Why, I have a half a dozen pears already up in my tree... a few broken ornaments (I especially love those orbs, when those get cracked, you can even see yourself in them, they're that shiny!), mirror fragments, and of course, shiny stones (c'mon, who doesn't have a few of those!).
So yeah, like I said. One Inen's trash could very well be another one's treasure. Maybe next time you should have another look at what you're throwin' away before you dispose of it, hm? *wink*
