He had cried, several times in fact, though he'd never admit it. "Funny thing, I ended up dying before the person I cared about did, and I watched them die too, fighting for a cause." The scene of that person dying was a haunting and vivid memory, no matter that it was a century old, he could talk in a calm, joking manner about it, but it was the memory that made him hold on so dearly to the boy in front of him. "I can't answer your first question moyashi, but I can answer the second....it's all I know how to do."

Allen bit his botom lip and took a step backwards. "Then why don't you try learning to do something else? People change, they try to change, they fight to change... or are you afraid to change?" he was becoming all the more bitter but he was losing the sudden rush that made it seem almost as if he didn't care about anything. His voice simply faded out at his last question, weak. A violent shiver ran down his spine. He had to stop. One more word and... no he didn't want to think of it. He wanted to stop there. There was no logical reason for trying so hard, no reason why he should hurt himself this way. Trying to talk Lavi out of it almost seemed like ramming against a solid, stone wall with only the strength his body had. It was... it was no use at all.

There were only so many things he didn't know. So many things he couldn't remember and somehow his subconscious still had them recovered, kept intact and revealed them to him one by one in the most critical situations. But wether the situation was not critical enough or maybe he had really forgotten once and for all, this time no revelation came to him, no curtain was dropped to reveal all he had in the back of his mind. And it hurt, because no matter what lie he told himself to keep himself from breaking... he wanted to bring Lavi to the point that he'd make him admit that he was wrong about all of this. That it made no sense to be like that, an observer.

"If you only ever observe..." he started but tripped over his own words, what he wanted to say getting drowned in the back of his throat. He had to wait a moment to compose himself before speaking again. "If you always sit aside and observe your life will pass you by. There is nothing that is worth it to lose your life for, even if its the only thing you know how do to. People change, they learn new things along the way. I might have forgotten many things but I do remember as much." he paused and sighed. "It is not surprising that you could do nothing to save the person you say you cared about... If you really cared about them. And its not surprising that person died too, especially if they cared for you. When someone this close to you dies you get broken, lose a part of what you once were, that one part that once made you whole gets lost forever and you only can keep on walking for so long... until you fall appart entirely..." he looked away, no longer wanting to look at anyone, guilty of saying all those spiteful words, but he was brought to a point were he couldn't do anything else. It was his last resort.

"Not that I can expect you understand." he finally said. "After all, you don't have a heart, is that not? Just like... just like Rynl... At least him... you could have let him live..." he bit his bottom lip at speaking that, he never meant to bring the young man up. He never meant to blame Lavi for what Rynl seemed to have become, the shell of a person without a life for his own. He brought both hands up as if to protect himself from getting hit. He'd deserve it, he thought to himself, if Lavi did try to attack him. He shouldn't have said so much. He didn't want to hurt anyone anymore. It just didn't make sense. It didn't make sense that he even spoke those words.

Even if he never meant to say anything of this, Allen couldn't know how close to the truth he was treading, even though it should be quite clear to Lavi ever since the meeting with the Bookman who took Rynl's heart. The mere existence of the Bookman Clan and his own breaking of the rules so long ago, had put not only him in mortal danger but all those around him as well, making Rynl, Allen and all others he cared about prime victims in the Bookman's trail to take him appart.
And even if it wasn't as clear yet, it was soon going to be.

"He has a heart, old age just made him stubborn." A voice answered for Lavi. Lavi looked up, not really believing what he heard, but when he looked over, to see Rynl with a smirk on his face and Dino clinging to his shoulder (hitching a ride, but looking as if he were going to cry nonetheless) Lavi didn't know what to do, except to fall into a slight state of shock.

"Ah! Old man! Whats wrong!?" Rynl panicked, running over to the still ghost, wondering what had happened to make Lavi, a bookman become this way, and make everyone so depressed. "It hasn't been that long i've been asleep, unless your shocked about my rugged manliness." he puffed up, attempting to back his words up, not realizing Dino and Allen were now looking at him. Rynl stopped when he realized they weren't paying attention, and frowned. "That usually gets some reaction. Okay, what the hells happened?"

Allen turned to look at Rynl in surprise. He felt an odd sting of pain in his chest, then it just drained itself away. He almost smiled at Rynl's quote but after knowing everything Lavi told him... this, just wasn't possible. He gasped lightly, surprised.

"Rynl-san!" he exclaimed running to Lavi and him. Maybe there was still hope. Maybe, maybe there was, in the end, just a little bit of light. Then again, he couldn't know. Maybe it was like a curse, bound to come back way and over again. He should think positive, however. Maybe one's heart was stronger after all. Maybe it wouldn't fade, like he liked to believe, like he had told Lavi that time.

However, it was still a mystery to him. The how Rynl managed to come back.

It was Dino who replied, when it didn't seem like Allen would or Lavi was able to. "Rynl, what's today?" The blond only looked at him confused, but gave his answer. "It's the fifteenth...why?", this made Dino feel as if hsi blood just ran cold. "R-rynl....we have alot to talk about, Just help Lavi for now, I need to talk to Allen." Rynl complied with a word, something that only proved to Dino he was still out of it somewhat. Without another word he grabbed Allens hand and pulled him towards the house.

Rynl went over to his mentor, still pretty confused, and scooped the ghost up in his arms. "Please calm down. I'm fine and alive, and everyone else is, right?" He didn't expect an answer and didn't get one, he didn't care though, just happy to be awake from the hell that had plagued his mind. '...what?'

Yanked after the blonde ghost Allen wasn't sure what to expect. He was unsure of what he was to hear or why Dino wanted to talk to him all of a sudden. For another time he forced himself to ignore the slight distress caused by the rather unpleasant feeling that he had before. A sort-of stinging pain concentrating on his back, like the muscles that supported the wings on his shoulders where sore... though he didn't think it was this short of feeling. Once inside he managed to slip his hand away from Dino's grasp and returned it close to his body unsure of the whole situation.

...the room was pleasantly warm. The orange light of late evening soaked everything in the living room in its quite phasmatic flame. The real fire in the fireplace burned quietly making a beautiful sound. Allen stared at the beautiful tongues of red licking at the wood inside of them, feeding off of it.

"Welcome."

Allen turned at the sound of the voice to see a male his age with pale skin and chestnut coloured hair smilling at him. Reflective eyes that looked as if made of quicksilver stared into his own. Allen noticed that the other's eyes were a brilliant shade of blue in fact, it was just the lighting that made them have this overwordly hue.

"Where... am I...?" Allen asked. The boy kept smilling at him...

Before Allen could have his reply he was snapped back into reality by the sound the door made as it closed behind him. This had only taken a moment, no more, no less. Allen blinked surprised by the sudden occurence but for some reason his mind failed to grasp into it and the memory as fast and suddently as it appeared slipped from between his fingertips like water and dissapeared as if it never hapenned.

"Dino-san." he spoke first. "Did you want to talk about something?" he asked.

Don't you think it's strange that Rynl 'awoke'?" Or that this had even happened at all was the question that hung in the air. He led Allen pass the kitchen, towards the study. "We should find out why, and maybe talk a bit, about what's bothering you." Dino knew something was bothering Allen, and he wanted to help, even if it was something minor.
