She frowned "They were older? I'm.. not sure why. Maybe your other form aged differently and when you were changed to this it made them the equivalent to what they would be as a Pony?" She felt horrible.. this was supposed to be a good thing to find his friends... she really didn't understand what went wrong.

She bit her lip and hugged him, hoping she wouldn't make him uncomfortable "I'm sorry.. but.. they seemed worried about you. Whatever happened they may not realize it.. but they are still them.. aren't they? You can smell things right? Did they smell like themselves?"

He leans into the hug and nods a bit. "They still smell right," he agreed. "Rayek couldn't do this, or the black snake.... what if it is... because of the blood?" he shuddered a bit.

He hesitates then looks away. "I need to know what they remember.... if it doesn't alarm them that the cubs are cubs... they might not even remember the black snake!"

She frowned but didn't push it though she was curious on what he meant "That would be bad then wouldn't it? What if that snake showed up here... would they trust it?"

His eyes widened. "High ones," he whispered. "They might. She weaves lies like Moonshade weaves leathers. We have to get back and warn them!"
(heh. Winowill will probably have memories up until right before she met Rayek, so would love the chance to get at cutter when he doesn't remember a thing about them. Good thing they remember just slightly after the end of book 4. Night)

Cutter was playing tug of war with a piece of hide from the kill with Ember, while looking around. Leetah was watching over all of them seeming calm.
Skywise leapt off of her back before she landed and raced to Cutter. "What is the last thing you remember?"
"you doing an impressive leap off her back."
"Before that! Before we were suddenly more wolf shaped then elf."
"you mean, we didn't always look like this?" he broke out laughing. "We were just settling into the forbidden grove to make a new holt, leaving the place to Rayek and the Gobacks, and the trolls to picknose."
"At least you remember Winowill then. And Rayeak.... but a lot happened since then. A lot that involved all of you, involved the whole pack."
"Lock send?" Cutter asked.
Skywise hesitated then nodded. "All of us? You, me, Leetah, the cubs and her?"
Cutter hesitated then nodded. "If you trust her, I do."
Under his breath he muttered "you're the only one who still does" an exaggeration, to be sure, mostly it was still just scouter with a chip on his shoulder, but, ah well.

She sighed "If it will make you feel better I don't have to be included... I don't want to overstep boundaries..." Sure she was curious but it was more their business than her own.. and the last thing she wanted was to get in the way of Skywise rejoining his pack
