((Eeyep. Leet. Right-o. Thought of grilling, but I figured we could bullheadly push through. Course, you could just call me merciful, but I didn't want to leave a loose end unraveled for too long. Or have another abomination follow us up. And gain some karma with the gods of rpgs and dice for my merciful act.))

[[ Oo-oooooh I get it. Hurf, I'm dense. That makes sense. Hurp Durp. And yes Heiro you SO are a dork. Bu-uuut hey we're all dorks here so you're like you know part of a family of dorks. It's all good! mrgreen

And yeah, Hlyn, is totally right. If we grilled her for info it'd be such an insensitive thing to do. If she wanted to tell us she would have, someone needs to get in touch with their feminine side!~ ;D]]

((I didn't mean that you should literally grill the poor girl for information...not THAT insensitive...anyway, reposting the old update with the new information. It'll have not only Hlyn's stuff but also the information for Kary and Varnis.))

As Kary and Varnis rush up the stairs to the attic, Coralie ends the tortured existence of the women. As you walk away, you stop for but a second as you hear the whispered "Thank you" of the woman known as Fate.

Upstairs, the attic looks like a disaster. Hastily-scribbled, arcane notes line the walls and ceiling; most are just notes on preparation for arcane battles, but some are even notes for incredibly complex and obviously theorized spells. Several spellbooks and a strange, scaled-down version of an obelisk are stacked haphazardly near the wall of the tower. Scribbled across the wall are also notes on the experiments conducted on the citizens of the area. It reads:

"Demon summoning is most common. Use of citizens as mortal sacrifices."

"Use of human and demon slaves in transmutation experiments. Minimal successes in combining human with demon traits, though surviving samples do exist. Will need to be treated with caution..."

"Study of human life? The druids are killing inhabitants and observing their dwindling life forces as they die. Several times the druids have managed to stop the subjects death just moments before they die. These specimens seem useless without magical direction."

"Chronomancy...I thought that art was long dead, but it seems I'm wrong. Multiple instences of druids stopping, slowing, and speeding up time in a localized area...nothing wide spread just yet. But why? Why test on the citizens themselves?...Need to keep a close eye on this in the coming days..."

The last message is a hastily scribbled on the wall adjacent the staircase: "Lantern plus orb plus obelisk. Must use to reverse spell. Must find the lantern. Orb on my body. Obelisk is in room. If you are reading this, finish this in my stead. I beg of you..."

No sign of the mage is evident, though you do notice that sticking from the floor near between two shelves is a giant, blood-covered spike that seems to be sprouting up from the ceiling below. On further inspection, you notice that the spike has multiple runes of power on it, but their specific purpose eludes you.

((Heh. Had a feeling we should have asked her questions but... Varnis isn't the sort of guy to do so. He'd rather run in and start killing stuff rather than ask questions. lol))

Varnis read the message on the walls and when he came across the one about the orb, he thought for a moment. Going through his things, he pulled out the orb they obtained earlier. "Does it mean this orb?" He asked as he turned to Kary showing her the orb as he looked about the room seeing if there was anything in there that might suddenly jump out at them.

All seems quite, despite the addition of the orb to the room. Though both the orb and lantern pull you lightly toward the miniature obelisk on the other side of the room.

((Sounds like a trap, I think Varn should check it out. He's the sturdiest. Thanks for volunteering Varnis. smile ))

(( ....... All right... I'll do it... *Mumbles* XD ))

Cautiously Varnis followed to where he was being pulled to. Being ready incase something was about to happen.

(( xd ))

She glanced around and tried to memorize as much of the scene as she could. Kary was distracted by all the magical and arcane circles and notes scribbled around them.

"This is all so... Demons!?" she paused and squinted at some of the writing," Were these people really druids?"

As Varnis moves closer to the obelisk, the incestuous pulling of the lantern only grows more earnest, till finally you pass within a mere foot of the obelisk. As soon as you do the pulling of the lantern ceases. Then, off in a dark portion of the room, just behind some boxes (a vantage point that only Varnis can see at this point thanks to his new position) lies the body of a broken man wearing blue robes. He seems to be clutching at his chest, where a large, gaping hole is. In the same hand is a now torn open bag. Whatever its contents were are a mystery. The man's face is still twisted with the pain of his injuries, and it's not certain whether or not his fate is linked with that of the woman below...

((... Anyone else seeing the posts out of order besides me??? O.o; ))

Almost dropping the orb and the lantern as he saw the man, he stopped walking for a minute. Unsure of what to do for a second, he quickly pockets the orb before running over to the man. Kneeling down next to him, he holds the lantern out in front of him. "What the hell did this?"Varnis asked not remembering about the thing that the had just killed not too long ago. He looked about to see where the others where. "Hey! I found something." He whispers harshly trying to get their attention, but not what might have done this, if it was still there. Slowly reaching for the bag, Varnis looked into it to see if there was anything in them.

((Sorry for the absence, the little lady is here in Korea and we've been all over the place. I'll try to be a little more active.))

Nothing remains in the bag, it's contents are a mystery to you.

Deciding to leave the bag alone, Varnis searched around, and the man himself for what ever was in the bag, or anything that would identify who he was.

((Did we pick up the lantern already? If not...))

...Coralie, as a moth to the flame, shambled over to pick up the lantern, throwing caution to the wind...

((...if she blows up, it was worth it! And if we did... nevermind... I just wanted to do something... neutral ))

As Varnis searches the man you see that he is clutching a book in one hand and in the other a hastily scribbled note. As you remove the paper you see that the only thing written on the paper is the word "graveyard" and what looks like the beginning of a name. All you can see of the name is "Stra-" and nothing else.

((Also, for Hlyn, the thing in the room that you all don't have (and conciquently the only thing you're missing of the three objects mentioned in the journal) is the obelisk. You can grab that if you want ninja ))

Taking the book, and the papers Varnis stands up, and flips through the book quickly to see if there was anything important in it.
