Well I've only really played FE:Sacred Stones and FE: Radiant Dawn so I'm a little out of the loop with a lot of the more popular pairings from games like FE and FE: Path of Radiance. But from the two games I've played my top fave pairings are-
Sacred Stones: Heterosexual Pairings- SethXEirika, KyleXSyrene, JoshuaXNatasha, ColmXNeimi, ArturXLute, GerikXMarisa, and last L'ArachelXInnes because it's so freaking weird... Oh, I almost forgot my favorite FranzXAmelia heart Yaoi/Shounen Ai- GarciaXGilliam, and RossXEwan (those two are especially cute). Don't really have a Yuri pairing I like.
Radiant Dawn: Heterosexual Pairings- SotheXMiciah, GatrieXTitania, RolfXMist, RhysXMia, HaarXIlyana, HaarXJill, AstridXMakalov Yaoi/Shounen Ai- SotheXIke, ReysonXTibarn, IkeXRanulf, and LeonardoXEdward. Yuri- NepheneeXHeather, ElinciaXLucia, SigrunXSanaki, IlyanaXFood (jk)
I have others, but that's what I can think of for now... if I got names wrong, please forgive me, it's been a while since I've played a FE game. sweatdrop

There is so incredibly much wrong with people shipping Tibarn with Reyson. Reyson is like a SON to Tibarn! He regards him with fatherly love, and has raised him since the Serenes Massacre! Blagh. D: It's creepy pseudo-incest, and really not at all representative of their relationship in the slightest.
... Er. Sorry. That ship is just a particular peeve of mine.
It's unfortunate you're playing Radiant Dawn first. I fear that without being exposed to Path of Radiance first and following Ike's story-- which is excellent, has REAL supports, solid characters, and a much better plot-- that, well, you may actually have been led to believe that Radiant Dawn is a good game. Radiant Dawn really just isn't a game that stands alone well. The multiple plot threads and chapters that follow different armies artificially increase its difficulty, and the writing is sub-par by Fire Emblem standards. (Some would say that calling it merely sub-par is generous.) It certainly doesn't live up to the standard set by the previous game.
But, regardless. Welcome to the guild! It's nice, whatever the case, to see someone so willing to jump right into discussions. :3

Wow, it's crazy to think over a year has passed since my last post in this thread (but that it's been active recently enough that to post isn't to necro)!
And I actually completely disagree with Tib on a lot of things in his post. I played FE10 before FE9, too. And I don't regret it at all. FE10 IS a good game with many improvements upon FE9, which made playing FE9 after FE10 quite disappointing in various ways. The gameplay in FE10 is frankly some of the best in the entire series. It's also quite simply legitimately more difficult than FE9, not just 'articifially' because of how you switch armies and perspectives. FE9 was dumbed down for Americans and one of the easiest entries in the series; FE10 wasn't. And switching perspectives the way you do and fighting other armies you've played as gives it a depth no other entry in the series possesses that is very appreciable. The story is weaker though, overall, yeah. Who doesn't agree on that point?
I don't see Tib as a father figure to Reyson at all, either. Reyson was an adult when Tib took him in. Not someone he raises. He obviously looks up to Tib tremendously and Tib's a mentor to him - their relationship is very intimate and they're essentially family to each other. But Reyson didn't need 'raising' when Tib took him in. Tib didn't work to convince Reyson to adopt his mannerisms; Reyson, of his own volition, did so in order to be more like someone he so greatly respects. Tib's love for Reyson is very much familial, but I don't think he considers Reyson a son at all. Far closer to a younger brother than a son, I reckon. Reyson’s extreme admiration for Tibarn can easily be sexualized for those who ship the two and one could see their dynamic as having homoerotic tones to it, although the pairing is on the unrealistic side.
My taste for pairings has greatly changed in just a year. I’m very much over something like Raven/Lucius for exampe (but find Heath/Legault to be much more appreciably nuanced and favor it now instead). Just going to list some FE13 pairings that I greatly enjoy for their characterization and dynamics (not for gameplay at all, since that matters with this game):
-Owain/Cynthia: These two are just too perfect together with their shared obsession with heroism. And for them to have been that way together when they were kids, too? It’s adorable.
Laurent/Noire: As functional as it gets with Noire’s personalities. And it’s even got a whole Dom/Sub thing going on with Laurent ENJOYING when angry Noire goes off on him. That’s about as close as Fire Emblem ever comes to portraying anything BDSM. Love it.
Chrom/Sumia: The game sells it and I buy it. The cut-scene introducing Sumia where she rescues Chrom is called Love Birds even. I actually find their supports to be on the weaker side but the other ways in which the game shows them interacting picks up some of the slack.
Lucina/Gerome: a lot of people find this to be THE most boring pairing in the entire game. They’re both very serious, deontological individuals, and that’s precisely why I think they go so well together. Their like-mindedness makes them suitable for one another.
Gregor/Cherche: Cherche/Virion gets a lot of credit for them being from the same country and one being a vassal to the other, but Gregor/Cherche is awesome for how it involves Minerva into the supports as well, which I find a very compelling point for the basis of their supports.
Tharja/Henry: I actually don’t pair these two for gameplay purposes (Tharja wants someone who’ll give Noire Galeforce – Brady especially benefits with Henry as a father), but character-wise, they’re both ******** up and putting them together makes the relationship a lot more functional and believable than other pairings for Tharja. Tharja placing as many hexes as she does on her spouse is a lot more dubious for any other potential husband than Henry. Henry wouldn’t care and would very likely be happy to be the recipient of her hexes. It turns the otherwise very questionable acts that go on in the marriage into something that becomes a cute couple.
Big fan of Inigo/Gerome as well, unrealistic though it may be! This game threw in an appreciable amount of gay subtext even if you can't pair units of the same sex to S rank. Love it for that.
