"I suppose you ARE right..." She sighed. Although she had heard countless tales about the terrible Leviathan, Falina had no idea what she'd TRULY be facing... She contemplated for a moment, then ran ahead. She shoved Avenger roughly while dashing past, and jeered, "I think the monster is going to be attacking OUR dimension, dreamer!" As he lurched to the side, she ran up towards Xan. All her mocking, playfulness left as suddenly as it had come, and she said to Xan, "Tell me more about our enemy. We need strategies before can take on a beast of legend, at least us humans do." her tone was cautious this time. She had no intention of agitating the Guardian even more than he already was. Doro and Rithey on her heels, she shushed them with a simple motion, and turned back to Xan.

Xan sighed, continuing towards the lake. "Can you swim?"

Avenger glared angrily at Falina as they walked. he knew qhat was to come, and he knew very well what could happen. He didn't care if he died, but if he lost a pet and he survived, could he live with that? he didn't know, and he definatly didn't want to lose a pet.

Falina gave a weak, nervous sort of laugh, attempting to ease some of the tension balling up inside her stomache. "Of course I can swim," she reassured the guardian, "I've grown up around water my whole life. As a child, it was considered a neccessary life skill- especially with my mum and da's occupation. Her eyes stared off in the distance for a moment, in an uncharacteristic moment where she was deep in thought. She jerked herself back the the present hastily and added, "So, yes, I can swim. Doro and Rithey are pretty independant swimmers, too."

Avenger shrugged, "swimming isn't a problem...though wouldn't swimming give the beast an advantage?" he asked.

The dark-clad woman thought for a moment, and concurred, "For once, I agree with the insignificant speck floating beside me. Isn't water the Leviathan's natural habitat? It'll be harder to navigate for us, and easier to navigate for the beast. Floaty dust speck, what do YOU think about all this?"

"hmm, Floaty Dust Speck doesn't feel like talking. Oh well, his opinion doesn't matter, anyways," She said, as much to herself as to the others, "He's just a little insignificant speck!" She smiled and waved her hand at him dismissively.

Avenger shrugged at her comment. "opinion is just that. an opinion. it is the basis of theory, and the destroyer of fact. in truth, you never fully understand a problem until it is solved. to defeat this beast will take all of our strength and courage, but will tha even be enough?" he said, questioning her determination.

She raised an eyebrow. "Talkative li'l dust speck now, aren't we?" She asked, grinning and ignoring Avenger's comment. Suddenly her facade began to fall away. The ear-to-ear grin disappeared rapidly and her face took on a distant, shadowed look. "Huh," she murmured, speaking quietly and in a calm, almost timid manner, "you speak as though you know about this beast. You're no less ignorant than I, though, Avenger. The problem with you is, you don't accept it. You've taken on a mindset that you're perfect, and you know it. Mark my words, though- that sense of false perfection will get you killed. Or worse- someone very dear to you." Her words had the impact of a prophetess, and a silence fell over the group. No one had ever seen in such a calm, serious state. It was worrisome to those who knew her, and perhaps even moreso those who didn't.
Rithey and Doro exchanged looks. This was not good.

Avenger simply shook his head. "no...I am questioning myself as much as I am you. this beast is great and mysterious. like I said, the problem is never understood until it is solved, and there is always a formula to the solution. in this case it is many things, and the question is, do we have enough to balance the equation?" he asked, this time his eyes grew dim and cold, like a black stone thrown upon a frozen lake.

She glanced up at him, half caught between admiration and fear. If even Avenger was doubting the situation- Avenger, the ever unfazable Avenger- then things could get very messy. Worry clouded her thoughts and she blurted out, "What happens if this... THING can't be defeated!?"
