Tal Tribal Rosa City Streets--->Sleeping Dog Inn
After he was changed back into his regular clothes, Tal had run out into the streets of Rosa to pick up a few things in the shops. He actually only ended up buying a small leather bag from a curiosity shop. The sack was small and versatile enough to clip onto his belt loops and hang there inconspicuously, not getting in his way - an important factor, especially in the middle of a battle. He carefully placed his journal into the bag and headed back to the inn.
"And I've made up my mind... I ain't wastin' no more time... Here I go again...
Once he reached the door to their room, he paused in his singing long enough to call out to his companions.
"Hey, y'all, time to get this show on the road! Meet out front in five minutes. We're out!"
Tal picked up one of the last remaining cans of Tonberry Cola, then ran back down the stairs, quickly grabbed a biscuit, and headed outside once again. He tapped his foot impatiently and snapped open his soda as he waited for the others. He had apparently picked up a bit more energy, and was now raring to go.

Nikolas, NPC Squires Palazzo Amoria Castle, Main Hall
As all four members of their makeshift group entered the main hall, Nikolas greeted them with a nod, his poker face still intact. Not even a small crack of a smile was showing, although he was extremely excited...on the inside. But now was time for business. No playing around. Not for him, anyway.
"Glad to see you're all awake. We don't have time for pleasant idle chat, however, so grab something quick to eat-" he paused to wave his hand towards a small dining table set up on one side of the massive chamber "-and move out. I'll be going on ahead of you. Once you're ready, follow these two gentlemen to where you'll meet me." He now pointed to two squires suited up in a bit of armor, who bowed at the four, then at Nikolas. Nikki returned their bow with one of his own, though not as low as theirs, and then turned and left the hall.
The squires, two young men with light blonde hair - they wore armor, but no helm - glanced at the four warriors for a short moment. Then, in unison, without saying anything, they turned toward the same exit Nikolas had used and, walking slowly, proceeded to exit the hall as well. One of them politely said "If you please..." in a loud, clear voice, although he still didn't turn around; however, it was clear that he was addressing Johnny, Hel, Dansworth, and Fals.

Dansworth looked at the table. It was ladened with everything from rolls to eggs benedict. Not caring for rich food, Dansworth grabbed a coulpe pieces of fruit before following after Nikolas.
"Betten not keep him waiting today," she called back to Fals. Dansworth took a bite of fruit. "Come to think of it, you probably shouldn't ever keep him waiting. If you value your life that is."

Remetheus Tribal Rosa Sleeping Dog Inn
Now wide awake, or at least as awake as he was going to get, Remetheus double-checked his pockets and took a Tonberry Cola and some food which he had as he followed Tal at a slower pace, plodding down the stairs while still holding his staff, which he used as a crutch just in case he might lose his balance, with one hand and eating with the other hand.

Fals Palazzo Amoria Amoria Castle, Main Hall
Heeding Dansworths advice though he was going to do it anyway, Fals grabbed some of the smaller pieces of fruit and quickly stuffed them into the front pockets of his shirt, making it bulge a bit. He then grabbed a few pastries which he scarfed down as he followed Tal and Dansworth.
"You coming, kupo?" Fals cheerfully called back at the others, swallowing as he walked at a sedate pace. "Don't take too much time, kupo." He'd hate to have to fight without someone to hide behind after all.

Lot Tribal Rosa Sleeping Dog Inn
After quickly downing his cup of coffee, Lot ran next door, grabbed his pack and sped down the stairs. He quickly greeted Remetheus as he passed him on the way down. The addition of caffeine turned his normally perky self into a hyperactive crime against nature.
Lot exited the Inn to find Tal standing, waiting for the others. "I wonder what's keeping those guys?" he asked, not realizing that barely any time had passed yet.

Tal Tribal Rosa City Streets ---> Northern OutskirtsAs the others all headed outside, Tal noticed his purple-coated moogle friend approaching him from the skies. Flapping his tiny wings rapidly, Artemicion quickly covered the distance across the street, then gracefully descended to the ground in front of the green-haired young man. "Here ya go, kupo!" The moogle said, handing Tal a small envelope. Tal accepted the package with a smile and a nod at Artemicion, then quickly opened it. He pulled a folded piece of parchment from the envelope, unfolded it, and read it silently. Hey bro, it's me, Darill. We heard you were in Rosa for the night, so I decided to drop a line. Don't worry, we all got back to Gabbiani safely. Everyone's just hanging around the hideout for now. The problem is, after news of tonight's disturbance carried over here, the knights were given orders to patrol the roads along the fields for outlaws. So you're gonna have to come up through the Sleeping Forest. I reckon you already thought of that. But still, I just wanted to make sure. Anyway, once you get here, come straight to the hideout if you can. The Boss wants to talk to you about something. I dunno what it is, but I think you might be in trouble, so brace your a** for a beating. Although I may be reading too much into it, and he might just be extra moody. You know how Dad can get. Regardless, hurry back, and be careful!
~ Darill
P.S.: Oh yeah, we got the Starlet pretty much fixed up. She'll be in sailing condition soon.
Tal raised an eyebrow, wondering what his adopted father could have to speak to him about. He really hoped he wasn't in trouble. That was the last thing he needed. He looked up from the letter to see that everyone had exited the inn. He folded the letter up, stuffed it into one of his pockets, and nodded. "Alright, let's move. It's not far to the woods." Then, without another word, he turned and headed up the street. After walking north for just a few minutes, the buildings came to an end as they left the city. The Sleeping Forest could be seen not even a mile away to the northeast. "So, I've already told y'all my story. Or well, summarized. Anybody else feel like sharing?"_____________________________________________ Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Northeast TunnelsNikolas nodded slowly at the congregation before him, as he stood with his back to the set of tunnels they would soon be splitting up to traverse. They were all present - his small team of four, along with a very large fraction of the Amorian soldiers."You are all here today to serve your city, and your kingdom as a whole. The enemy we are about to face, threatens to corrupt and destroy our beautiful, peaceful kingdom Palazzo. But we will not be defeated! Our pride will not be cast aside! Our city will not fall to these terrorists!!! Stand tall and proud, men and women! Face this battle with all your strength and resolve, for it is the last; it is the fight that will win this war for us! After today, ladies and gentlemen, the threats to our kingdom shall end! After today, ladies and gentlemen, you are all heroes! Now, let's go and teach these people a lesson they shall never forget: NEVER STAND AGAINST AMORIA!!!"Nikki turned towards the tunnels as the deafening cheers and applause of the soldiers filled the caverns. He allowed himself a single smile, knowing no one could see it, then his poker face took over once again. He gave them all a few moments, then headed down the central tunnel. Johnny, Hel, Fals, and Dansworth would be going along with him, while the other groups of soldier all had their assigned routes and patterns to take. They had been instructed not too long ago, and they all knew what to do. For his group of four, it was to simply follow him and take orders. They had it made in the shade.

Lot Tribal Rosa Northern outskirts
"I could tell you about my past," said Lot, not wanting to miss the chance to talk. "When I was younger, I traveled a lot. Though I was born in Rosa, I can't say it's really home. You see, my dad disappeared before I was born. He was an adventurer, according to my Uncle. He went on a quest to find a magical gem that I can't remember the name too. He never cam back from that trip, leaving my mom all alone. I know he's not dead, despite what everyone else says. When I was five, my mom got really sick. She died soon after. I don't remember much about her. After that, I spent years bouncing from relative to relative. When I turned twelve, I left to travel with my uncle. Iv'e been traveling ever since, even after uncle settled down and married a barmaid." Lot's ability to walk and talk at the same time had been refined and perfected over years. It came to him as naturally as breathing.
Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Northeast Tunnels
Dansworth was bored. She had heard almost the exact same speech before. Listening to motivational speeches was part of a mercenary's job. As they walked though the tunnels, an idea came to her. "We're not going after small fry anymore, are we?" Dansworth asked Nikolas, knowing he was up to something big.

Nikolas Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Northeast Tunnels
Nikolas nodded once, although he didn't turn toward Dansworth or slow his gait. No time to slow down now...They were close. He could feel it.
"Yes, you are correct. As was made rather obvious by the amount of soldiers joining the fray, this will be no small skirmish. We are crushing the rebel bugs for good this time."
_____________________________________________
General Adelbert ((NPC)) Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
The young man glanced around at his tired soldiers. Most of them - including himself - hadn't had much sleep the previous night. They had been wary of an attack, but none had come. Now Adelbert saw the situation clearly: they had done just as their enemies had planned. Now the majority of their rebel group were too worn out to really last long in a fight. And now, from the thunderous yelling coming from somewhere to the northwest, it was obvious that the usurpers and their gullible soldiers would be heading this way...to wipe them out.
He forced a smile, determined not to show his fear. His men were all looking to him for leadership...and hope. He couldn't let them down.
"Very well...It's clear now that we must defend ourselves. Those accursed dogs are on their way. We'll need to defend ourselves. Everyone, head to your appointed sectors and prepare for battle! Those of you in my team, stay and hold your ground with me in the main chamber. It's likely they'll arrive here first. We must fight them off as well as we can. Blank!"
After the General ended his speech and bellowed the name, a young man suited in scant armor quickly approached him.
"Y-yes, sir?" the young man asked.
Adelbert lowered his voice and whispered solely to the fiery-haired youth: "We shan't live out the day. I need you to flee to-"
"NO!" Blank cried out, his eyes wide, before his general silenced him with a quick gesture and a deadly scolding glare.
"Blank, you must fly at once. Mount your chocobo and ride as fast as you can to Coral. Tell the leaders of the Hurricanes that we have failed. They must strengthen their numbers somehow, and also, send word to the border town of what has happened. More likely than not, war will soon be on their doorstep. You must do this. Consider it the final order you will carry out as a Palazzian soldier."
"I...I understand, General."
"Then go. GO!"
Blank hesitated only a few seconds longer, then quickly rushed out of the cavern to do as he was told. The stables weren't far off. He would soon be on his way. He would much rather stay and fight, and eventually die, defending his homeland, but orders were orders. It seemed it all depended upon him. He would not abandon his beloved country.
Meanwhile, Adelbert gripped his sword and prepared for the worst. They would be here soon.
May the Gods favor us with the strength we need...

Tal Tribal Rosa Plains ---> Sleeping Forest
Tal nodded along at the boy's story as they approached the edge of the woods. The trees seemed ready to swallow them whole. He hesitated just a moment, then resumed his steady pace. Soon the woods enveloped him and he could barely be seen by anyone outside the forest.
"Okay y'all. Anybody having any second thoughts, speak up now. You can always go around and meet back up with me later if you want. Seeing as how you're not exactly in Ziekden, you won't get in trouble with the knights if you do. But this is your last chance to change your mind. What's it gonna be?"

Nikolas, Johnny, General Adelbert Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
"Well well well....We come prepared for a legion, and all we find is a small group of washouts." Nikolas taunted upon seeing the small group of tired rebel soldiers in the cavern. He had to force himself not to smile. This was just too rich. "I hope you've made any needed amends to the Gods."
Without another word, Nikolas signaled to his group to move in. He at once charged at the apparent leader of the ragtag group, Adelbert. Johnny nodded and followed suit, rushing into the fray, raising his axe.
Adelbert grinned widely at the red-headed mage. He would not greet death with a look of fear. Instead, he raised his sword and lunged toward Nikolas. "Okay men, CHARGE!!!" All of the rebel soldiers followed their General into the fight.

Lot Tribal Rosa Plains ---> Sleeping Forest
"Sorry, I'm staying right here until I work off my debt," replied Lot, Cheerfully. He took a step closer to Tal, and then looked back to the others. "I hate these first steps. I always feel like I'm leaving something behind." Then lot turned to see if anyone else was going to join. He knew this was going to be fun.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
Dansworth drew her thin sword and followed Nikolas into battle. "These rebels move so slowly," she said to herself as she reached the first enemy. Before the rebel could complete his swing, Dansworth stabbed him through the neck. "Such weaklings," she sighed. Another rebel reached Dansworth only to find a rapier in his eye. She quickly withdrew her sword from the rebel's eye and plunged it in his gut.

Remetheus Tribal Rosa Rosa Plains ---> Sleeping Forest
Remetheus stayed silent and pondered on whether he should continue following Tal. While the danger of being with him was significant, it was riskier to go off and find some other people that would let him follow them around. He trusted him to an extent and he'd followed him all the way here anyway. The small mage moved closer towards Tal, indicating that he would like to continue accompanying him.

Fals Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
The moogle winced at Dansworth's rather brutal display of her skill as he continued observing his allies and assessing the enemy group from his relatively safer location of a few meters behind his fighting companions. Fals' attention was caught by an archer who was readying his bowstring and taking aim. The moogle swiftly brought the flute he had taken out earlier to his lips and played a scale. The notes took form and headed for the archer, who noticed it and tried to evade but wasn't fast enough as he took the whole brunt of Fals' attack. Though not especially strong, it was enough to momentarily stun the archer into shooting his arrow uselessly into a nearby wall.

Tal and Akara Tribal Sleeping Forest's EdgeAkara stepped toward Tal and whispered something only the two of them could hear. Tal hesitated a moment, staring at her with a quizzical look. He seemed to be thinking hard about something. He then nodded, and his smile returned. "Good luck, buddy. We'll see you when we come out on the other side, I guess." As Akara turned and left the group, walking northwest around the forest, he then nodded at the two boys, smiling down at the tiny Black Mage boy for a bit. He's so cuuuute~The child would probably fry him alive with his Fire magic if he could hear the thought...Tal himself hated to be called a kid, much less to be treated like one. "Well, I guess it's just the three of us. Let's hit the trail! Well...There's not really much of a trail, but we'll make do with what we got!"Tal then turned and resumed his steady walk into the woods, singing on the way a song that had popped into his head while he was talking to Akara. "You know the day destroys the night. Night divides the day. Try to run, try to hide, break on through to the other side! Break on through to the other side!------------------------------------------------------ ((I finally decided to post up a picture of part of the Sleeping Forest. Gotta settle for black and white for now, cause I left my color supplies back in weezy. Just imagine this all greens and browns and greys. __________________________________________________ Nikolas, Johnny, Hel, and Adelbert Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern CavernAs Nikolas charged at the rebel leader, he also charged up his magical power by focusing his energy. It took away some precious time, but at least his first attack would be extra-strong...if it hit. As Adelbert's sword came down, he leaped into the air just in time to miss the blade. As he flipped through the musty air, he stretched his right arm down towards the General and released a Fire spell. The General moved fast to dodge the flames, but just not fast enough. His back, along with most of his left arm. Luckily for him, it wasn't his sword arm. He spun around, wincing in pain from his scorched body, just as Nikolas dropped to his feet gracefully and began to charge up another spell. At the same time, Johnny and Hel were at it as well. Nikolas' ward had just lowered his axe upon an unlucky rebel's head, cleaving it rather nicely. He shook the blade out of the man's skull and swung it horizontally towards another enemy. Too bad for most of these gentlemen, they aren't wearing helms...His axe found a place in the side of his next target, but the leather armor saved him from a bit of the damage. He cursed and removed it, taking a deep breath before raising his blade again to parry a blow. Hel had drawn his pistol before he had charged, and was now filling one fencer with iron bullets. He quickly had to reload, but found that, with a shortsword quickly making its way to sever his neck, this wasn't the best time or place to do it. He rolled out of the way just in the nick of time, then kicked the wielder of the sword for good measure before slinking away to a private shadowy corner where he could reload his pistol in peace.

Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest's Edge
"Okay, forward and onward!" said Lot as he walked into a tree, just off the path. Falling backwards, Lot clutched his nose. "Ow, I think someone else should lead," he said as he scrambled up. Lot had never been good at looking where he was going, thus today was no exception. Sunlight broke through the leaves of the trees leading into the forest. The foliage on either side of the path got thicker the farther you went in. Almost anything could be lurking there.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
The small rebel force continued it onslot to no avail against Dansworth. A spear weilding rebel jumped in and attacked Dansworth. She nimbley dodged, only receiving a small cut on her cheek. She returned the favor by impaling the rebel's Carotid artery. While withdrawing her rapier, a rebel fencer tried to take advantage of the opportunity. The rebel's rapier did a quick thrust only to miss it's target as Dansworth pulled out her rapier and tumbled backwards in the same motion. Taking advantage of the rebel fencer's moment of vulnerability, Dansworth sprang forward and stabbed him through the side, piercing the heart.

Remetheus Tribal Sleeping Forest's Edge
Remetheus adjusted his hat so that it fit more snugly on his head before following Tal at a reasonable distance, which was not too close but not too far. Dry leaves crunched beneath his feet as he walked on, listening to Tal's singing. He inwardly smiled, amused at Lot's antics.
_____________________________________________________
Fals Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
Fals rolled, narrowly avoiding another arrow. The moogle raised his flute again to his lips, playing a short piece, manifesting magical notes to send towards the archer. The archer ducked, avoiding the notes which disappeared harmlessly, and readied another arrow to fire at the moogle.
Fals huffed and continued running, weaving in and out of spaces between the enemy combatants, making him harder to shoot at. The enemy soldiers didn't seem to notice him; it was probably because of his short stature. One warrior, however, was a bit overactive and accidentally kicked him. The moogle was sent tumbling, unprepared for the sudden strike.
Fals stood back up, rubbing his stomach to try to ease the pain. Luckily, there wasn't too much force into that kick. The archer seized his chance while the moogle was distracted and let loose an arrow towards him. Fals threw himself at the ground, barely dodging the arrow which nicked the warrior who kicked him earlier on the arm.
"Hey!" the warrior turned, turning to face the archer which was readying yet another arrow. Grumbling under his breath, the moogle played more notes on his flute. They manifested and the archer, who didn't see them in time as they were being hidden by the warrior's body, was hit. The attack caused the archer to let go of his bow, sending his arrow careening towards the warrior who yelled in surprise and threw himself at the ground.
Fals took the liberty of thwacking the warrior a few times with his flute before running behind some more rebels.

Tal Tribal Sleeping Forest
"We chased our pleasures here, dug out treasures there, well can't you still recall, the time we cried? Break on through to the other side, break on through to the other side!"
Tal stopped his singing when he heard a sound like rustling in the bushes nearby. His walking came to a stop, and he shushed everyone.
"There's something coming. Prepare yourselves for a fight."
He then drew his dagger and wiped sweat from his brow with his arm. It was probably just goblins...nothing major to worry about. But you never knew....
Suddenly, a horde of goblins leaped from the foliage, followed by a few large, dark green snakes. The goblins had light brown skin and large, pointy ears. They wore torn, ragged clothes, and carried small swords. The Anacondas were about seven feet long, and had bodies as thick as a lamp-post. Tal counted four goblins, and two anacondas. That meant two for each of them...But then again, Lot was a White Mage, and who knew how experienced. He might not be able to handle them.
"Lot, do the best you can to defend yourself against the goblins. Stay away from the snakes, they can poison you! Remmy, try to use your magic to fry one of the snakes, then move on to the goblins. I'll take care of the other anaconda."
After nodding at the other two, he charged at the anaconda to his right, signaling to Remetheus to get the other one. He dug his dagger into its neck before it could do anything to him, but it quickly tried to sink its fangs into him. He pulled his dagger out and jumped back before the venomous fangs could touch him, then prepared to attack again.

Nikolas, Johnny, Hel, Adelbert Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
As the yellow magical energy surrounding Nikolas' hand began to come together, Adelbert charged him again. The red-headed mage flipped out of the way, barely dodging the sword swing. Unfortunately for him, he lost his balance and fell to the ground, flat on his back.
"THUNDER!!!" Nikolas roared as he stretched out his arm and fired a single bolt of lightning at Adelbert. The blast hit the General in the chest, knocking him back a bit, giving Nikolas the needed time to rise to his feet. But by the time he was standing again, Adelbert had disappeared in the small crowd.
"Oh, hiding, are we? I'll just have to kill all of your peons until I find you. Seems a proper course of action to me."
He turned and noticed one of Fals' previous opponents, the one who was shot by his own idiotic comrade. He rushed toward the man just after Fals had punished him with his flute and moved on, to see the man was still alive. He quickly shot a Blizzard spell his way and ensured his demise.
Johnny dodged a brutal swing from his opponent, then brought his axe down, only to have it blocked. This man was apparently better than he had given him credit for. But the boy would not allow himself to be put off-guard by this. He stepped back a bit, then kicked the man in the stomach for a quick distraction. Then he swung his axe in another horizontal attack, cleaving the man's head clean off his neck.
Hel quickly reloaded his pistol and jumped back into the fight, firing one bullet at the archer who was STILL pursuing his moogle comrade Fals. The bullet sank into the rebel's shoulder, but it didn't take him down. He turned to his new threat and fired an arrow, but Hel was already a step ahead of him. He barely evaded the wooden arrow, and it hit the stone wall before clattering to the floor. He then flipped a bit closer to the man before firing another bullet, this time in his opponent's head. The man fell to the cold stone floor and never moved again. Hel rushed up to Fals to check up with his tiny friend.
"Watch out for yourself, huh? You could get killed....or stepped on."

Lot Tribal Sleeping Forest
"Oh god, not again," said Lot as he took out his rod. A single goblin rushed at him, causing Lot to panic. He tripped on his robe, fell forward and hit the goblin in the head with the rod. The goblin, caught off guard by the unexpected attack, stumbled and ran head first into a tree. "Uh oh," said Lot as he stood up. The goblin stood up and clutched his forehead. It looked back angrily at Lot.

Dansworth Palazzo Amoria Thousand-Year Wall, Eastern Cavern
Pulling her rapier out of the now deceased fencer, Dansworth looked for her next opponent. The remainder of the crowd backed away from Dansworth, not wanting to die so quickly. One was forced forward as the the others blocked his exit. In the time it took him to raise his sword, Dansworth had plunged her rapier through his neck and pulled it out.
As she fought, Dansworth moved steadily towards the backside of the group, creating a flanking situation. Now, she was almost on the opposite side of the rebels from Nikolas and the others. Dansworth watched as Adelbert emerged from the group. Adelbert had one hand on his sword and the other on his chest, the pain still lingering from Nikolas's attack.
"Nikolas would probably object to me killing the leader, but he probably won't mind me playing with him for a while," Dansworth thought to herself.
