Skye smiled and led Syrus back to where they had left all of the picnic things. The basket was still on the blanket, as was her bag, but she slipped her hand out of Syrus's and moved them to the side, then picked up two corners of the blanket and shook it out. It was huge compared to her, however, considering that she was shorter - about a head and a half shorter - than most Seconds her stage, but nevertheless she managed to shake it out and then folded it over her arm.
"Where do you want to sleep?" she asked Syrus, turning to look at him once more.

Syrus was about to help her with the blanket, but then realized she was doing fine on her own, so he just stood to the side waiting for her to get done.
"How about close to where we just were?" he suggested. "It's very pretty there"
Though, in his own mind, not half as beautiful as she was, but he kept that comment to himself.

Skye pondered the suggestion for a moment, but then a smile split her face and she nodded brightly.
"Maybe we can sleep with the flowers," she suggested. "Then when we wake up we will smell pretty already!"
She giggled and twirled once on the tips of her toes, then skipped back to Syrus and took his hands.
"And it will be very soft and we will not have to worry about having a sore back in the morning!" she beamed.

"All very true," he said. "Lets just make sure we don't crush many. We wouldn't want to spoil the place for other people after all," he said with a light laugh, squeezing her hand lightly.

Skye looked chagrined at his remark, letting her hands hang in his.
"I forgot about that," she admitted. "Maybe we should not sleep in the flowers then ... maybe we can make a mat out of the river reeds. I can make mats out of the river reeds ... they are soft ..."
It would take her a little time, but she didn't mind, not if Syrus didn't. After all, it wasn't as if either of them would be alone.

"That would be perfect," he said, starting to move slowly towards the spot they were at before while still holding onto her hands. "I do hope it's not too much trouble though..."

Skye smiled reassuringly at Syrus. "It will be fun," she assured him. "I like to weave ... it is something that I am good at. And it will be special ... because it is for both of us!"
She brushed her thumbs against the backs of Syrus's hands, smiling into his eyes. "And it will mean we can talk for longer before we have to sleep," she added softly, and even as she spoke she could feel the heat rising into her face once more.

Syrus gave a sort of happy sigh. "That would be wonderful," he said, wrapping his closest arm around her shoulder with a smile.
"Shall we go and get started then?" he asked.

Skye giggled and nodded, leaning her head against his shoulder and walking close to his side.
He was warm, she mused as they walked. He made her feel warm. Not just the heat of embarrassment ... no, it was the warmth of comfort ... of closeness. Not just physical, but ... more.
She loved it.
More than that, she was starting to feel ...
She blushed and looked up at Syrus self-consciously. "Um ... Syrus," she murmured hesitantly, as if she was about to ask something quite awkward, "does this mean ... you are my boyfriend?"
Her blush grew deeper, and she wanted to look away and hide her eyes, but she knew that in order to see his answer she had to keep looking at him. Still, she held her breath anxiously, though she was smiling hopefully.

Syrus had been wondering if that question was ever going to come up. He laughed lightly and kissed her quickly on her forehead before looking at her again so she could see what he had to say.
"Only if you want me to be," he said with a warm smile. "It's all up to you."

Skye's eyes brightened at his words, and she nodded. Her knowledge of what it meant to be a boyfriend and girlfriend came from her dance teachers - though their genderbending put it in a whole new perspective - and it also came from her parents, who had dated for most of Skye's life and had been engaged for a matter of months, and who would be married any time soon.
Yes, that was what she wanted.
She nodded again and laughed softly, unable to contain her joy.
"Yes," she giggled, her wings fluttering excitedly. "I would like that very much!"
And she put her free arm around his waist and hugged him tightly, pressing herself against his chest.

Syrus hugged back, practically beaming, though he was trying to seem as calm as possible. After the embrace, he looked down, then in the direction they needed to go, which really wasn't much further now.
"Shall we?" he asked, bowing and extending the arm that still wasn't holding onto Skye's hand in the direction of the reeds.

Skye giggled and squeezed his hand tightly, nodding. He was so much fun to be with, he really was ...
"How big should I make it?" she asked Syrus suddenly, realizing that she didn't know the size she would need. "Big enough for both of us, yes, but not too big I think ..."

"Hmm...good question..." he said, pondering. "Well, about about this then...think of the normal size that you would make for yourself, and add half of that size to it. I doubt we'll really need one double that size, after all," he stated, smirking just ever so slightly at the last scentence.

Skye nodded and smiled, feeling relieved that Syrus was able to solve the problem so quickly.
"A me and a half of me," she repeated softly, nodding. She set the blanket on the ground and slipped her hand out of Syrus's as they reached the reeds, and started to crack the tall blades of grass at the bases.
"Help?" she asked Syrus, looking over her shoulder as she plucked the reeds. "We will need lots of it to make a good soft mattress."
