Nearly full, the strange wolf's howl caught coenshan with a mouthfull of torn meat. Blood dripped down his jowl as he instictually jerked his head up to pinpoint the direction of the source. You're slacking! He chided himself mentally. The scent of the meat overwhelmed you & you missed any other signs of this wolf's approaching!

Little comfort would it give him that the howl was meant to be heard long before scent or sound of other noises could be assimilated. Koenshan was keen on berating himself for his supposed shortcomings. River paused by Seren, obviously giving command, as the alpha went off to investigate. Not having been given a directive himself Koenshan forced himself to chew his mouthful & lick the blood from his fur. Good thing he had almost been sated, for he had no appetite now. Then he sat, facing Ren with a quizical look on his face.

((yeah we have a problem with Soarin' being away.. not sure what is happening with her but I do know she not happy. I want rp to continue so Tre, if it is okay with you.. send your boy towards where River is and she will tell him of his position and then if you PM Kim the two of you can sort some plot out or something if you wish, as the plot we have planned cant go ahead for quite a while...

Desert wandered nearby where River and Koenshan were talking and layed down, wondering if he might find somethig to do. Despite having just gotten back from a rather interesting "adventure," he was getting antsy and trying to find something to entertain him. His ears flickered back and forth as he picked up a word here and there from the conversation, as well as listening to the sounds of the forest around him. He noticed a mouse scurrying in the nearby bushes and debated whether he wanted to chase it.

That was certainly not the reaction he had thought to get. Taken aback, Koenshan actually took a small step back before realizing his place. "No... I mean.. I'd be honored. You're not too bossy, you're Alpha."

He shook his head to try & clear it from the shock. "I'll do my best. I'm sure Ren & I will be able to work together well." The memory of the recent hunt gave him conviction to add to his words. "Of course I will scout for new wolves for our pack." As soon as the word 'scout' passed his mouth he regretted it, wincing a little involuntarily. He wished he had chosen any other word. Too late for that, reovered. "Desert?" Glancing at the cub the newly appointed beta saw that the 'cub' would not be that for long. "I'll do my best to teach him."

With nod & bow Koenshan turned & began to trot away, pausing briefly beside the antsy cub. "So... care to join me?"
