I'm not sure if I posted here already... rolleyes

Anyway, I started out on clarinet in 5th grade since I couldn't get air through the flute and I didn't want to play any brass instruments. So I played that for a year. Then in 6th grade, I decided to try out flute again since my friend plays flute as well. I picked it up pretty easily and soon became "the best flute player in the class". I am very modest about that, since there are people who are good in my class.

But I intend on sticking to flute, although alto sax sounds interesting to me jazz wise. Then again, I could always try bass flute... eek

I was going to be a clarinet. Which is funny because I don't think I can see myself playing a clarinet, too many buttons to push...or break. sweatdrop

When I was in fifth grade, just before we had settled on who was going to play what, one of the older students came in and did a demonstration of the french horn....and here I am today.

The guy who played for all of us snot nosed fifth graders graduated from college recently. He visits the band room and plays with us every now and again. I still wonder if I should tell him he's the reason I play french horn...

I actually wanted to play the tuba when a quartet visited us in elementary school. Remember that I was and still am a rather short person. But, when fifth grade came around, my parents decided I would take my aunt's trombone, the second biggest instrument. smile
Now I'm eternally glad. I received a new one with an F trigger on it for my sweet 16! Even so, I just love trombone. The slide, the sound, and the people that ended up being in my section (Trevor heart , Baby Amy, Kristen and Billiam!)

I loved drums and percussions. I was in 5th grade and I decided to join band as a percussion for 6th.
Then my friend came along and she begged me to do trumpet with her D: (she was trying out for something else but we had enough of those and we didn't have trumpets!)
So, i decided to just do trumpet and learn percussion by eavsdropping.

Next day, she quit. burning_eyes

well i've been with my trumpet for four years now and i'm third chair biggrin i'm happy but at the same time sad. sad

well ever since i was alittle boy and knew what the band was i always wanted to play the percussion
and for years i played drum sets and all kind of like first act crap
well when 5th grade came around and it was time to pick instruments i was about to right percussion but then a poster caught my eye of a trumpet
i have no idea why i picked that
so i got my mom to get me one
her expecting me to drop out of that and join percussion bought me the crappiest one she could find
but i loved it and now going on my 6th year of playing im second chair and have one HELL of a better trumpet

I tried out for Clarinet but REALLY sucked....
But the director said I had natural aptitude for flute and I had already been playing for a bit in the 5th grade on my cousins flute.

I'm second chair flute now, and double on a Bassoon for concert season.
People tell me I'm one of the two best in the band but I doubt it.

I love my flute though! :3

Well we were alowd pick to pick top three instrument we wanted to play and i origonally wanted to do percussion (like pretty much everyone else) and since so many people wanted to play we had to try out. i failed emo then my second choice was flute and i had something wrong with my lip that split the air and made it very hard to play. then my last choice was clarinet. haha. and it turned out my mouth was awesome for it and i actually was first chair most of the time and then our first concert came and i saw the bassoon. and heard it play the super mario theme sone. i fell in love instantly. now i play and am not planning on stopping.

wow that was long lol

I was given a choice, actually.

I had my Alto Sax since at least fourth or fifth grade. In seventh grade, before the first concert (the Meet the Band for anyone who knows what I'm talking about.;D) my band teacher called me into his office after band practice one day and asked me if I wanted to switch to Baritone Sax. Then the 3rd hour bell rang, so I told him I'd tell him the next day.
So after school I spent most of the day pondering, and pondering. I even asked my siblings. They just said "do what you want."
The next day I told my band teacher I did want to switch. So once he announced to the band I'd be the only Bari Sax in Concert Band -- nay, the entire school -- everyone was shocked. Including me. At that time, I thought "This saxophone is MASSIVE! How will I carry this thing!?"
But now I'm used to it. I have bad shoulders, but my Saxophone is sorta helping with that.XD

Eh, that's my story. I'm going into 8th grade this year, my second year on Bari Sax. ninja

This year I am going into Highschool.
I decided on what I liked the sound the best. when the people came (6th grade) I heard them play solos and stuff. I liked a few and mostly the saxophone. I also based my decision on the way you cam move around with the instrument ;D I decided if I cud dance with my instrument. So now I have the saxophone. I considered the flute and thought I'd look too much like a pikie lol (I'm seriouse)

Well, I originally chose flute because I thought that it sounded pretty and I wanted to play it. But I really didn't like it, and luckily for me our band was in desperate need for tuba/sousaphone players. I always thought that the tuba would be a really fun instrument, and it is and I love playing it so much. <3 I really wish I had started on it, but as long as I play it now, it's all good.

I originally wanted to play percussion. My band teacher let us all try out all of the instruments and I did. I sucked the most at the trumpet lol. But by the end of the day I was debating over percussion and french horn... I asked a bunch of people what they thought I should play, and they all said percussion... So I chose the french horn :3 It was the BEST decision of my life!!! I don't regret ANYTHING!

I don't know if I've posted here before sweatdrop

When I was little (about 10) we were staying up at my grandpa's cabin in Michigan. My cousin was there practicing his clarinet (he was in high school) My grandpa had always been asking me what instument I wanted to play, since he's a band director and everyone is very music-oriented. My mom had tried to teach me flute, but I failed miserably xD So I told my grandpa that I wanted to play clarinet just like my cousin. He gave me my old plastic Bundy later that week (it was used, but it worked, and it still does lol)

Now I'm in my second year of playing in my high school's varsity wind ensemble and I'm one of the section leaders in marching band, so I think I made a good decision.
