Sorry, I know I promised you a voice session but Dor got sick and was allowed to go back home for a few days so I'm at his place, and I'll be staying in Tel Aviv tomorrow as well because a friend of mine who lives there has a birthday. I'll probably be home Thursday and we could have a session. Sorry.

Don't worry about it. I think I should be sorry actually, I haven't been online in ages (I swear it's not my fault crying homework...)!

Will you be online on Saturday?

Is the following sentence correct (and is it how Israelis would normally say this?)?

היום היה גשם הראשון הזמן באיזור הזה

If not, what would be a better way to say it?

Only two problems I could spot - the first one is that I'm not so sure about the function of the word זמן in the sentence.
Also, גשם ראשון isn't Status Constructus. SC is quite complicated to explain; I'll try doing that by detailing the possible connections between nouns in SC. The first word is the first component or FC; the secong word is the compositional morpheme or CM:
1. FC is owned by CM, such as ספרי הילד (the books of the child)
2. FC is made of CM, such as שולחן העץ (the wooden table)
3. FC is meant for CM, such as מי שתייה, נעלי התעמלות (drinking water, excersize shoes [gym shoes])
4. Connection of time, such as חיי לילה (night-life), (morning meal, breakfast) ארוחת בוקר
5. Connection of place, such as תיאטרון רחוב (street theatre)
6. FC is caused by CM, such as לחץ אוויר (air pressure), מכת חשמל (electric shock)
7. FC is compared to CM, such as ענני כבשים (sheep-clouds - nickname for white moderate sized clouds).
8. FC is the quantity of the CM, such as קורט מלח (a pinch of salt), כוס חלב (a glass of milk)
There's one more incident I don't know how to explain. We'll talk about it more further when I know if you'd already covered that particular area (participate).

Anyhow, what the word הראשון does in this idiom is "count" the word הגשם, hence this is a modifier and both words are to be definite, therefore,

היום היה הגשם הראשון באזור הזה.

Thank you! I shall study that 3nodding (I kinda get it anyway... there's something sort of similar to this in Russian)

By the way, usually the verb you used for rained can be ירד (גשם). But היה is a good word to use when you forget your verbs. XD

What's the past and future tense forms of yored? (eg it rained/it will rain)

What's the past and future tense forms of yored? (eg it rained/it will rain)
(for "he")

Past: יָרַד
Future: יֵרֵד
(the root י-ר-ד means "to go down" and works for "rained" as well, if you add the word גשם after it of course.)

It's one of the tricky ones because its first letter is the same as one of the letters we use as a prefix to the future tense, and it is one the "weak" vowel letter, אהו"י. The letter י just disappears completely in the future tense (when it's the first letter of the root), and it would look as if the verb's root is just ר-ד (it isn't really so of course):

אני ארד
(ered)
אתה תרד
(tered)
את תרדי
(terdi)
הוא ירד
(yered)
היא תרד
(tered)
אנחנו נרד
(nered)
אתם תרדו
(terdu)
אתן תרדנה
(terdna)
הם ירדו
(yerdu)
הן תרדנה
(teredna)
