Allahura Pistil Another one of those evil words is: Anyway. Everyone where I live says/writes 'anyways' - which isn't a word. It can't be pluralized. Anyway(s) XD, this is probably a useless post, so I'll stop now. I know what you mean, I freakin' HATE HATE HATE when people say "anyways" It bothers me, a lot. I haven't seen anyone write it--which is a good thing I may have had to kill them--but I hate it enough when they say it. It'sawordinMYdialectofEnglish. mrgreen EVERYONE says 'anyways' here.

Actually, "anyways" is a real word. eek http://m-w.com/dictionary/anywaysEven though the difference between that and the one with the S is chiefly plural. DAMN YOU, ANYWAYS! You're just as bad as 'towards.'

Eh, English: the language where you can get away with putting an s at the end of almost any word. ><

Actually, it probably IS a word:
He went towards the fridge. (yeah, I'm hungry)
Hmmm...
I just realized how little I actually write the word 'towards', it looks weird.
I say it all the time though.
And I can't think of an example where you use 'toward'. O.O

They both work, but 'toward' in that sentence is a little awkward, which I guess is why people tend to add the 's'.

Yeah.
Then there's those times a sentence sounds awkward, so you think it's wrong, but it's correct.
I hate those. Luckily, I can't think of any at the moment.

My first language is Spanish and my second is English, so I'm really good at translating from one to the other, and am therefore available if anyone needs help with that. ^^

This is actually a dialectal difference!
While both words are technically correct in all dialects of English, American English speakers tend to use "toward" all the time, whereas British English speakers tend to use "towards".
Even though I speak American English, I usually use "towards" like you guys, who I assume also speak American English. confused
I'm like,
"That's my attitude towards anarchism."
"I started walking towards the door."
etc.
I guess we're just weird.
Or we subliminally want to be British.
Also, how do you guys pronounce this word?
I say "tords". confused

Always in the plural 'towards', and pronounced like 'tohrds'.
