Both women nodded.
"Those of the Southland, or those with a large amount of Southland blood, are born with something called the Wishsong," Aliya explained. "Wish for it, sing for it, and it happens. It comes in varying degrees of effectiveness, of course, like any other magic, but those with a complete mastery of the ancient tongue of the elves, such as Shael or Aragost, can use it to create reality - from something as small as a piece of silverware, so something as complex as a living being."
"Such as the way you're describing Shiro's summoning of Ura," Shael added.

"I see...." Kara mused, "It certainly does sound similar... the most common branch of magic is the use of words, but it's mainly used to summon elements, some with more luck the others. The thing is... I don't know if Shiro had simply summoned or created Ura, or if he had I don't think completely. Shiro really didn't know what he was reading," she sighed, "Unfortunately summoning of that sort is not what I'm familiar with so I'm quite clueless on what happened."
The closest she had was Asia, but that required a bond.
"At any rate, I guess we'll find out as the two grow up. Ura is just as bright as Shiro, though more straight forward."

"He seemed ... quite quiet when they were here," Aliya said, puzzled. "I don't recall him saying hardly a word, now that I'm thinking about it. Shiro spoke, certainly, but Ura ... just sort of followed him around. Echoed him once or twice, but didn't seem to ... think of anything on his own."
"Silvrendir was much the same, though," Shael pointed out, "and his intelligence is quite obvious."

"Ah yes...." Kara smiled knowing how bright Silvrendir is, "He is... though to be fair Silvrendir is a teenager, much older than those two. Though you can't tell, from the looks of it both he and Yukiko are going to end up shorter than me."
Which was hard to imagine, the only creature smaller than her and humaniod was the constantly absent Raven. Who had, when Donovan became a permanent fixture made himself absent. After Lau had sealed the demon into a doll house for a week.
Though he did show up occasionally but only to keep an eye on things for once.
"The two think a lot alike... "Kara looked thoughtful, "I think.. the few times you notice Ura has his own thought process... is when he's saying something Shiro isn't going to say, because he finds no problem in it."

"I imagine that might be ... troublesome," Aliya remarked dryly, though she was smiling.
In Kara's arms, Adonijah stirred, waking from his short nap. He rubbed his nose with his fist, then blinked and scratched at his long white hair, then looked up at Kara - and froze, realizing that he wasn't with his mother.
Meanwhile, outside, the group was finishing up with the first swing when a tall boy came through the trees. He was ... well, very very tall - taller than Ryu - and he had shoulder length black hair that was pulled back in a low ponytail. His face was thin and angular, handsome in its own right.
"Adanedhel," he said in a deep voice, "I'm going fishing up the river. Want to come with me?"
Then, as if he had just noticed that there were guests, he smiled at Lin and Ryu. "Oh, hello. Welcome back. Want to come with too, Lin?"
Adan grinned at Lin. "Yeah, come with us!" he encouraged her. "It'll be fun!"

Lin blinked and looked up at the man who wanted to go fishing, though she couldn't recall ever going to fishing. Well there was that one time she speared a fish when she was a Surprise, but she needed help.
From the stupid ninja.
Changing that train of thought, she looked at Adan and thought about it before looking back at the man.
"Okay, but I've never fished before... well I have, but trying to stab a fish with a stick when it's as big as you doesn't really count for fishing."

"Hi there," Kara smiled softly at him, "Did you have a good nap?"
She really hoped he wouldn't be too scared, or that he just might remember how he ended up there.

Adonijah stared at Kara, his cool blue eyes growing wide, his nostrils flaring slightly as he watched her, unmoving. His tiny chest rose and fell in quick breaths, like a rabbit caught after a long run.
Alyse looked up from her book, watching curiously to see what her brother would do. The fact that he hadn't started crying yet was a good sign, but the fact that he was still staring meant that he wasn't sure yet whether or not to trust Kara, and so the crying still might come.
Aliya, for her part, didn't move. If she did, he would notice her and want her right away - and she was trying to wean him off her as much as she could.
Adan grinned. "Excellent!" he exclaimed. Then he turned back to Amdir. "Ada, me and Lin and Ahren are going to go fishing, okay? We'll be back before dinner!"
Ahren, the tall dark boy, grinned at Lin as well. "It's been a long time since I've had the chance to do anything with you," he chuckled, his laugh sounding quite grown-up despite his thirteen years. "Even Arwen was saying she wanted to see you again."

She didn't think she was that scary, but well Adonijah had never seen anyone like her before, or seen her before.
"Would you like to sit here for a while longer?" she tried asking.

Lin blinked up a bit more, she hadn't realized that it was Ahren, he sounded so different, but then again he was older than Adan if she recalled correctly. Now there was a thought, but still he did look... and act... kind of different, or maybe it was his voice.
"Yea... it's been a few years here right?"

Adonijah winced and stared evenly at the angel, his breath coming even faster until suddenly it hitched in the back of his throat and he let out a bit of a whimper.
"He's going to cry again," Alyse sighed, turning her eyes back to her book now that she knew what the outcome would be.
At the sound of his sister's voice, Adonijah looked over in that direction, and caught sight of his mother. Immediately, he reached out his arms in her direction and started calling, "Mama! Mama!"
Aliya sighed. So much for that idea. "He's really got to start going to people other than me," she murmured as she rose and headed in Kara's direction.
Ahren nodded. "I don't even think I saw you the last time you were here," he commented, his expression one of regret. "I was gone with Ada, or you were gone with Aragost or Gwaethir ... so it's been at least six years since I've seen you last."
Of course, now that most of his training was done, he had more free time.
Adan was back with them in an instant. "Okay, let's go!" he grinned, darting between the two and heading towards the river. "It's almost the best time of day to catch fish!"

"He just needs a bit of time," Kara murmured handing him over to Aliya once she was close enough.
Kara didn't mind, after all a mother was the protective figure, and he probably just wasn't use to her.
"Besides he's never seen me before."

"Okay," Lin nodded letting Adan lead the way, since she didn't know where they were going to go for fishing anyhow.
She looked back at Ahren, she had missed him while spending time with other people. She was always off with someone, and she had taken to trying to keep up with Gwaethir.
"Yea, there's always something to do."

"He's had two and a half years to get used to people," Aliya murmured, taking the toddler and cuddling him against her chest, "but still he won't go to anyone but me or Amdir. He won't even go anywhere near Shael or Adonai, or Mum or Ada ..."
"He's not so bad with me," Shael pointed out, "because I've been helping to take care of him since he was born ... but he won't even look at Adonai. I suppose it makes sense, considering Adonai wasn't even back until Adonijah was a few months old - half a year, at least ..."
Ahren smiled warmly at Lin. "But that's part of the beauty of living in an area like this," he pointed out. "There is always something to do. Something to learn. Never a dull moment. And if you do get bored, there's always someone to find something to do with."
"Sometimes too much," Adan agreed.
"Yeah," Ahren murmured. "Mother says it's getting hard to take care of Timaeus, what with Arahad getting so troublesome. He gets into everything now, ever since he started walking."

Kara mused at that, perhaps Adonijah did get his shyness from somewhere. It wasn't just the fact he was a child.
"No? Perhaps he just needs to be around other people more often I guess," Kara mused, "I'm sure he'll grow out of it."
