{Jabari suits you because I think you'll be the bravest of us all. You weren't as scared by Grandfather's story as the rest of us were.}

{He asked you, Cart.} Freckles turns away from her new pack and look at Jabari. {I agree with Khala. It's a good name, and it suits you.}

The little dragon looked at the other dragons and then thought of the name they had bestowed upon him. Jabari. It had deep meanings of bravery tied to it and though he did not yet understand what it meant to him in particular he understood that it was indeed the name for him.
His eyes brightened and his tail moved back and forth as if he were a happy dog. He was now Jabari and he was happy for the gift of a name.

Emblem sat patiently, waiting for an answer. He thought Cart knew everything that there was to know, and he wanted to know! {Freckles, when I grow up, we're gonna go around and find all sorts of eggs and dragons, and we're gonna bring 'em all back here to meet Gramps!}

Cart's eyes opened wide. {Uh...well...you see...erm...} He trailed off. A plan. That's what I need, a plan! Um...well...I guess that story won't work, so...uh...nope, that's infuriatingly insulting, so...um...okay, that might work...so...here goes...practically everything.
{Well, Jabari, when two dragons fall in love...well...when they fall in love and stay together for a long time...well, when two dragons fall in love, they have eggs together.} Okay, so it's the old classic "tell-it-to-them-in-simple-and-cowardly-terms-while-evading-the-true-answer" trick, but...well, maybe there's a reason why it's the oldest one in the book! Besides the whole "you-find-eggs-under-a-cabbage-leaf" one, which wouldn't work 'cause Old Silverback just said that they're found in caves.

{And how do they have eggs?} Emblem asked, tilting his head slightly. He laughed inwardly at Cart's reaction, unaware that his simple question had caused a mental race for an answer.

Human scat.
{Uh...er...um. Yes, um. They...I think...it's magic. Yes, it's magic so simple that we males are incapable of doing it.} Time for the true-but-noncomittal-answer.

{And why can't we do it? Does that mean girls are smarter?} Emblem persisted, still wanting to know. Cart was obviously flustered, but Emblem just thought that that was because he was a bit frustrated at not being able to perform that special magic that girls could.

I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!! Great, now what am I gonna do?! I don't want to offend Khala and Freckles and Sfor has a nasty bite--but I'll be a goat-food before I insult my sex! {No, Emblem--that is, yes, they know some things that we don't know, but that has nothing to do with intelligence. You see, a mother passes on the knowledge to her daughters. We males also get it, but uh...we can't use it. 'Cause we aren't special like the females are.} If he keeps pressing, I'll use my second-to-last-ditch effort: a creation myth.

Khala sighs. {Cart, you're making a mess of this. Emblem, males and females are just built differently. Females are built to make eggs, males are built to do other stuff. Satisfied? Oh, don't look at me like that, Cart. It's kind of obvious that males and females are different. I've known that practically since birth.}
(OoC: If you want Cart to say this, delete this post, Geyser. I'm having a lot of fun watching you flounder.)

Madra was happy eating her food and listening to the story. It was interesting to watch the others reaction more then listening to the story but her faviort part was when her adopted brother got a name. She liked him, so she quietly made her way over and layed down by the blue male so she wouldn't scare him with a sudden appearance.
{Hi Im Madra, I like your name...it suits you. Do want anymore to eat, cause I can get you some. Its good and you never can have too much food. You look too thin. I will go get you some}
Quickly Madra went to grab so more meat for the blue male.
((OoC So for some reason I picture Madra as a minature Molly Weasley thinking everyone needs to be fed))

((OoC: Hey, no fair! I was enjoying Cart trying to dance around the difference between girls and boys!))
{But wouldn't you say that that's knowledge passed on to the daughters?} Cart asked. {Only in the most figurative sense, of course. And I also knew that I was different from you lot, though not quite at birth (I figured out the first time I had to...er...ahem, "pass water"). Anyway, Khala and I are right, Emblem. Don't worry about it 'til you're our age.}

Khala grins at Cart and Madra in turn.
(OoC: One of the things linguists do when they're bored is reconstruct languages that existed before writing, namely the original Indo-European language. "Madra" is closely akin to the word for "mother", I think through Spanish. "Mara" or "Maria" or similar variations were probably the original name. I definitely figured once you named her Madra that she'd be the motherly sort.)
