She followed the two out, she didn't want them to get too far ahead of her after all.

Adan looked thoughtful.
"Well ... I've never seen one before," he explained, "so I don't know for sure, but the one Nako showed me was a lot bigger, like a moor cat, and ... well I can't really tell you how, but it was different. It just looked scary, I guess."
Alyse nodded and picked up her own stone again, holding tightly against herself to warm it up.
"They're pretty when they're warm," she said softly, smiling brightly up at Feng. "You can see it better in the dark but Mama doesn't let us outside at night."
Aragost waved back to Lin and the twins, then smiled at Miyu once more. "Well then, I'll save it for dinner," he murmured. "I just ate lunch recently, and I think that I would be able to enjoy it more when I'm hungrier."
He put one hand on Miyu's shoulder and rose to his feet. "Perhaps you could read me one of your books," he suggested with a smile. "I would like it very much if you could."

Haradhel was rather relieved to hear that. "Well, as long as she's safe for the children," she admitted, "I'm sure Aliya and Amdir wouldn't mind having her. But doesn't that mean she's safe for anyone who might come around, too? Be it us or slavers?"
She paused. "Maybe we should get Amdir in here to discuss the matter," she suggested. "After all, they are his children, Tao would be his concern."
"I'll go get him, Mama!" Arwen volunteered eagerly. "I'll make sure not to interrupt his work, too, but it might be a while then."
Haradhel nodded. "Yes ... I think that might be best. Besides, I'm sure that the others would like to see him again too."
She smiled.

"Come on, Lin," Starr grinned at her aunt, tugging Storm out of the way. "You're going to have to show us where we're going, we have no idea where Nako might be."
"Or where anything might be, for that matter," Storm added as he headed out into the hallway after his sister.
Shiro stepped forward and grinned. "I'll go with!" he volunteered. "I would like to look around and meet people."
He also wanted to see if the people here were like Celebor had told him, willing to accept anyone, no matter what they looked like. His reception in the Southland was still fresh in his mind.
Ura of course was still holding tightly to his hand. He hadn't been parted from Shiro once since his summoning, and it seemed the time for their first separation was still a long way off.

"I'm coming," Lin replied leading the way back out of the barracks, "I guess we'll start with the field behind the barracks and then go around to the stables."
On one sense the Ranch was large, but the largest area was the place she didn't want to go into for reasons of safety.

"Well, what is a monster depends on the person, and like I said we had and still have a lot of strange pets back home. As you might have noticed from Saki, we have some quite interesting creatures."
"Oh... so they glow," Feng grinned as she rubbed it more to get it going, "What about with the lights out inside? Wouldn't that do?"
Miyu nodded eagerly, she would like that too, even though she had already read the books. It was nice to read them with someone who had never read them before. It was like reading them first all over again.
Kara smiled, "Yes, that would be wise to talk to Amdir about Tao. To have her look after children is a different situtation than what she would normally be use to."

Adan blinked at Ryu in confusion. "Saki's a strange creature?" he asked. "Why? I thought she was just ... Saki."
To be fair, Saki was older than Adan was, so he had grown up with her. He had no idea she had come from another world.
Alyse tilted her head at Feng. "Lights inside?" she asked curiously. "What kind of lights inside? How do you get light inside?"

"Okay," Arwen grinned. "Let's go, Shiro! Ura! Off to find Amdir!"
She giggled and took Shiro's hand, tugging them out the door.
Haradhel smiled, then sighed, bouncing Timeaus a bit on her lap. "She's excitable," she smiled faintly at the others. "Always on the go. So full of energy." She laughed softly. "Like I used to be."
But she was always so tired nowadays ...

"Well that's to be expected," Elnara smiled back at her sister-in-law. "But you must be so excited ... I would be."
She watched Shiro and Ura as they ran out of the room, smiling to herself. Then she glanced over at Lore and squeezed his hand happily. It looked as though the children would have a wonderful time here.
"That sounds good," Starr agreed. "Do you think we'll meet a lot of people that way? Because I think it would be nice to meet people, and they might be able to tell us where to find Nako, too!"
Storm followed after the two girls. "I bet she'll be surprised to see us," he grinned. "And happy to see Mama again. How much you wanna bet she cries again?"
Starr turned around and slapped her brother across the face furiously. "You take that back!" she demanded indignantly.
Storm put one hand to his cheek, his white eyes wide with surprise. "Hey ..."

Ryu chuckled, he had forgotten how long Saki had been around here, of course Adan would think she was normal, "There isn't any other creature here in the Four Lands quite like Saki," he told Adan softly, "Saki came from our world but was raised here. If you asked anyone else who has never been to the Ranch they would have told you that cats do not talked, much less winged ones."
"Well... I mean.. candle light is light right? So at night without candle light you could make these light up in the dark," Feng replied.

Lin stopped walking and was ready to rub her temples. She would have to admit, what Storm said did not sound right, but she was sure he didn't mean it like that. Though she was very surprised that Starr hit him, but then again Storm did keep opening his mouth before thinking.
He had little tact, which was a funny thought coming from Lin.
"Starr... calm down, I can't believe I'm the one saying this."
Weren't they older than her?
Now she did wish she had some help in the matter as she turned to face the two twins, it was obvious Storm had no clue what he did wrong, "Storm, you do realize crying is most of the time a bad thing right?"

Lore smiled back, even though he had been quiet during the coversation he had been listening. It sounded like so much had been happening here, but it sounded like a wonderful thing.
He gently squeezed back as he watched the boys run out.

"Oh," Adan grinned. "Well that's neat. I never knew that. Nako says that there are some animals that can talk here, so I didn't think Saki was strange. I guess when Nako was a kid, she had a pet griffin too but it was different from a normal griffin because her Mama saved its life so it protected her for the whole rest of the time that she lived here."
He paused.
"I never got to meet Naka's mama, but I think she would be neat. Nako tells good stories about her."
Alyse nodded, understanding now. "Yeah ... but maybe right now we can, if we close the windows," she suggested. "But we have to be quiet, Adonijah cries if we make lots of noise."
She frowned, clambering slowly to her feet. "He cries a lot."

"Well if they're crying when they see each other again it means they're happy!" he protested. "What's wrong with that?"
"It makes people self-conscious," Starr retorted. "It's very rude to talk about it like that."
She turned to Lin and put her hands on her hips. "And I'm perfectly calm, but Storm has to learn not to be so rude. He's always been like that and he has to smarten up."
Storm shoved his hands deep into his pockets. "Come on," he mumbled, "let's go look around."

"Really? So I guess on the really rare occasion they do help out," Ryu mused watching Tao, "Tao's just different, Mother's had her since she was in the egg. I was told she was very cute as baby."
Though to be fair Tao was just cute now.
"Well he can't talk like you or me, so it's the only way he knows to let people know he needs something, besides he's a baby, baby needs a lot of things," Feng replied.
At least that's what she recalled, while Jin didn't cry a lot he did have to be looked after a whole deal.
