Kilik remembered both the Silph Co. and Saffron City Gym's warp pads. Moving from point A to point B in such a seamless fashion seemed like a science fiction ideal until he experienced it for the first time. However, Team Aqua didn't seem like a capable bunch of evildoers and took Mike's word that their warp pads were less than perfect. The boy recalled Elekid and clipped the ball to his belt.

He watched Mike disappear and then moved towards the pad. His eyes glanced at the other one, wondering if he should take that instead. Then again, if he did, there's the slight chance that he'd completely screw up the mission. He stepped onto the square and disappeared in the flash of light.

When he reappeared, he was on his knees, gasping for breath. Kilik could see Mike's beside him, although they were a bit blurry. Coughing as he stood up, Kilik shook his head to try and clear it. "You weren't kidding..." the boy moaned. He felt quite a bit of turbulence on the way there.

Mike stood above the gasping boy with crossed arms. "Yeah, pretty poor." He remarked. "But if you think about it, instant transportation is still very impressive, shotty mechanics or not." The room was narrow, a large fenced off pool separating another walkway which held another warp tile. Ahead of them was yet another tile, but both were guarded by another pair of strangely familiar looking Grunts. Behind them a sharp 'ping' was heard, Prickles stumbling out of the transporter, disoriented. "Good. Let's go."

As Mike led the little entourage to the Grunts closer it hit him. He remembered who they were. Images of a Cloyster in a net, a nearly dead Charmeleon, a fainted Steelix and a terrified Shroomish flashed through his mind. "You!" He shouted, heat waves wavering from his clenched fists. It was Marty and Vince, the two Aqua Grunts that tried to steal Shiver back in Rustboro City. Mike practically ripped off Shiver's Pokeball in anger, thrusting it forward aggressively. "I demand a battle from you worms, NOW. I'm going to make you sorry you ever even looked in Shiver's direction."

The two men jumped at Mike's sudden shouting, whirling around to be met with the boy in full Magma gear. "Agh! It's an attack!" Marty shouted, reaching for the alarm.

"No," Mike said, pulling off his hood and lowering his scarf. "It's me, the boy you attacked in attempt to steal my Cloyster." His eyes were intense, nearly burning holes in the two men. "And I demand a rematch. A fair one, one that I'm going to absolutely decimate you in."

Upon the realization of their foe, the two men actually began laughing. "Oooh yeah, the cry baby." Vince chuckled menacingly, slapping Marty on the back amusingly. "We remember you alright. Sure you got a few lucky shots, but that's it. We'll settle this like men." Without any more words both men released one Pokemon each: A Tentacruel and a Mightyena.

They have the same Pokemon they did that day.
Mike donned his hood and scarf again. "Let's go Kilik." He released Shiver, ready to start.

Okay, Taillow isn't listening to Kirstie... Jaeshan thought, scratching his head. He figured that it was because she was still a new trainer, and perhaps the Pokemon didn't really respect her as it should because she was still lacking confidence in herself. "Okay Torchic, try your Ember again," he called out, and watched wide-eyed as Torchic loosed a Flamethrower instead. Now, it missed by a mile but it still took Jaeshan by surprise. And now Torchic is disobeying me, he thought, frowning. Judging by the two looks the Pokemon were exchanging, Jaeshan guessed that the duo just rubbed each other the wrong way, the way some people don't get along with others for no apparent reason.

Kirstie looked over at Jaeshan, shrugging as if to say "I don't get it." Jaeshan shrugged as well, and both trainers watched as their Pokemon attempted Flamethrower and Wing Attacks respectively. Again, both Pokemon's attacks missed, but more for bad aim than evading or dodging.

"This is getting to be a pain," Jaeshan sighed, rubbing his temples with his pointer finger and thumb. For a moment he considered just calling Torchic back, but the way Kirstie kept shouting at her Taillow encouragingly made him change his mind. "Maybe we should just let them... fight on their own?" he suggested.

"Uh... all right," the girl agreed, and both trainers took a few steps back at the same time, each watching their respective Pokemon.

Kilik glanced over at the two Pokemon in front of him then at Mike. It seemed as if Mike had met these two Grunts before. The boy didn't say anything as he took up Lairon's Great Ball and held it in his hand. He took a quick survey of the Tentacruel and the Mightyena. Which one would he decide to attack? The Tentacruel had a clear type advantage over his Steel-type behemoth. Luckily, the Mightyena wouldn't be able to harm Lairon at all. With a flick of the wrist, the Great Ball was sent flying.

Lairon slammed against the metal floor with a crash, his armor plating shining brightly, even in the dim lighting of the room. His eyes looked around wildly for an opponent. When he first caught sight of Shiver, he took a step towards him. However, Kilik's affirmative 'NO' made him growl about for another foe. His blue eyes caught onto Mightyena immediately. Now that he had his target, he would not take his eyes off of him.

"Ready, Mike?" Kilik smirked.

"You bet I am." Mike felt confident that this time wouldn't be as close of a call. Not only because he had Kilik with him, but it looked as if these two weren't the best of trainers. The just caught me when I was still green. And since then, I've improved a lot, and so have my Pokemon. Mike raised his hand, pointing dramatically towards the two Pokemon. "Alright Shiver, let's start this off with a blast, Ice Beam!"

The Cloyster slammed his shell shut, building up power, then sprang open with a concentrated blast of cold energy directed at the Mightyena. The attack connected, sending the Dark Pokemon skidding backwards. But it wasn't out yet.

"Bite it!" cried Vince, brushing off a few snowflakes from his outfit. "Show that shell that you remember who beat him last time!" Mightyena charged forward, baring its sharp fangs. It tackled the Cloyster and bit down. Unfortunately for the Mightyena, Shiver's quickly closed his shell, and it hurt to chomp on something as hard as that. The Pokemon yelped before loosening its grip.

Mike laughed. "Ha, next time try biting down on a rock, I bet it's softer!"

"Tentacruel, put the squeeze on that Cloyster, Wrap attack!" Marty yelled, clenching his fist, he wasn't about to get told by some punk kid twice. The Jellyfish Pokemon lashed out with its many tentacles, ensnaring Shiver in a tight grip. While the Cloyster barely felt the move, it restricted his movements, making a complex counterattack bothersome.

Jason continued on hi sway to the next town with Zeus right by his side. The sunlight was bright and the weather was quite favorable, ideal conditions for research. Jason was still exited over his first study of a wild pokemon earlier that morning, but he knew very well that he hadn't really figured anything out yet. "Hmm, the thing is, most researchers have something that they research, not just pokemon, but something specific about pokemon. I mean, Professor Birch studies pokemon habitats and distribution, and he isn't the only one with a specialization. Professor Elm from Johto studies pokemon breeding, and even the legendary Professor Oak specializes in the behavioral science of pokemon. And there's that other guy that studies pokemon evolution, dang, what was his name again? What I need to do is pick something like those guys to study, it's the only way I can become one of the greats. What should I do Zeus?" Jason looked up expectantly at his magnemite and sighed when it simply floated in place, not even turning to look at him. "Sometimes I wonder if that screw isn't in to dee-ow!" A small jolt of electricity shot out from the magnets that protruded on either side of Magnemite's body and zapped the unsuspecting Jason from behind. "Hey, I was only kidding! You don't have to go and use your thunder shock...wait, you know thunder shock now! Oh man that's great! Our battle with Alex must have been just what the doctor ordered, guess pokemon battles really are the best way to gain experience. Wow, I'm so happy for you Zeus, and now that you know an electric type attack, I can give you this...soon as I fin it...I know it's in here somewhere..." Jason rummaged through his bag for several minuets before finally emerging with a set of magnets roughly the same size and shape of the ones that were already a part of Magnemite. "Pops gave me these with all the other stuff, guess he wanted me to give them to you. If knowledge serves me correctly, the magnet hold item boosts electrical attacks. Let's test em out, shall we? Zeus, Thunder Shock now!" As he issued the command, Jason pointed to a nearby tree with intensity. Zeus obeyed immediately, a small blueish aura of electricity surrounding it's body and gathering around it's two magnet shaped 'arms' and then shooting towards the tree. The attack took the form of a jagged streak of electricity, striking the side of the tree and burning the bark slightly. Zeus's aim was a tad off, but that was to be expected seeing as it was it's first time using it. "Alright buddy, now we'll put these on and you try it again." Jason said as he took both magnets and placed them on Zeus's natural magnets, they latched on and the fit was so perfect that you had to be looking for something that would make this magnemite different from one in the wild to notice. "Alright, one more time Zeus, Thunder Shock!" Once again the blueish aura surrounded Zeus, but this time when it gathered around it's magnets, the aura intensified and small streams of energy could be seen jumping from one magnet to the other. Zeus released the energy at the tree again, hitting the other side this time. As the attack sailed through the air, there was a slightly louder cracking sound and a bigger ball of energy leading the jagged stream, this time when it hit the side of the tree it took some of the bark clean off and left a wider burn mark on the tree.

"Sweet."

It wasn't as though Torchic or Taillow noticed when their trainers stepped back, and their 'fight' wasn't so much a fight as it was more a staring/glaring/growling contest. Jaeshan and Kirstie looked on as their Pokemon seemingly weren't planning on attacking anytime soon. This is useless... Jaeshan thought, pacing a little on the spot. The two Pokemon obviously wanted to fight, but neither was willing to throw enough caution to the wind and full-out attack for fear of being the first to take damage - show weakness. Jaeshan was confused by his Pokemon's behavior. Torchic had never disobeyed him, nor had she ever shown fear in the heat of battle. It was strange, and Jaeshan wasn't sure he liked the look in her eyes.

"Come on, Taillow!" Kirstie shouted. "You were doing great in practice!" For a second the Pokemon glanced towards her trainer, and while her attention was there, Kirstie took advantage of it. "Wing Attack!" she shouted, her voice full of conviction. A sharp screech reverberated from the bird's throat as she decided then to obey her trainer, moving swiftly in the air and coming at Torchic with a new found fuel. Torchic was unprepared for the relentless strike and was bashed in the chest by a stiff wing. The wind had been knocked out of her and she staggered back, trying to focus on her opponent.

"Nice," Jaeshan nodded, admiring the Taillow's guts. "Okay Torchic, show it that you mean business! Use Flamethrower!" Taking a second or two to regain her breath, the small chick let the flames build up inside of her, and watched her foe's movements carefully. She waited, anticipating where the Taillow would be before she let the fire fly, catching the small blue bird on the right side of her body. Painful burns could be seen as she struggled to maintain flight, but couldn't, and she landed. Torchic watched her, not feeling sorry for the fact that she now had a level playing field.

"The girls from Vermillion. Yes, I will go out with you all. Can I get a kiss first?" Ray reached and massaged a face. "Your skin is nice and soft." He was slapped and woke up. "What? Noooooo!!!" Flametail stood there, staring at him as if he slept in that same area for months. "Oh, I'm sorry Flame." Ray stood up and dust off his pants. He stretched and looked around, "No girls?" Flametail shook his head; Ray reached in his bag for berries. "No berries? How? I thought we pluck a bunch of them. You ate them, didn't you?"

His Charmander quickly jumped and slapped him once more. Using his expressions and his great charades skills, Flametail explained how the berries were gone. "I gave them away to a girl? I must of been sleepwalking." Fake tears fell down Ray's face, Flametail then bit him. "Ow! You know you don't have soft teeth." Ray picked up his bag and was heading north, Flametail followed. "You know, you don't really obey much. I do wonder where those girls are now."

"Hmm, well aren't you the little heroine," Keegan chuckled, almost wishing he could have seen Kasiya getting up in the abusive trainer's face, and watching her punish him for being mean to a Pokemon. He did remember the Skitty now, and when he saw her she had indeed been in Flannery's arms. Soon we'll pay her a visit, and that Heat Badge will be mine, he thought, smiling. Even though he sounded like a broken record even to himself, it didn't matter. He would challenge his hometown gym leader, and come hell or high water (or even both) he would get that badge.

There was silence on both ends of the phone, and while most people would have thought that the two should have hung up the phone by now, Keegan was content to know she was on the other end of the line, even if she wasn't saying anything. Within a few moments, he caught sight of two familiar figures heading towards him, and all at once he recognized them. "See ya," he said into the phone before clicking it off, and quickened his pace in order to reach them quicker.

"Told you," he said with a grin when they'd met up. "Seeing you right now. A good sight," he added. "Were you well behaved?" he asked, turning his attention to Themis, who had trotted over to his side, glad to be reunited with his trainer.

Miharu had to admit that she felt a little worried when the female Pinsir took hold of Aska, but somehow she knew that her Pidgeotto would not give in so easily. The Pokemon's cries were difficult to listen too, and the green-haired girl looked around frantically before spying a rock lying nearby. She picked it up, looked at it and then hurled it at the Pinsir, hitting her in the back of the head with a soft 'thunk'. The distraction allowed the speedy Pidgeotto to slip from the Pinsir's powerful pincers, but not before she smacked it upside the head with a wing, grateful to be putting some distance between her and her foe. She screeched at her trainer, and if Miharu could understand what she was saying, she'd be throwing another Park Ball right about now.

"Gust attack, now!" Miharu shouted, pointing at the Pokemon she fully intended to capture. The Pidgeotto let rip another tornado of wind, and it slammed into the Pinsir's chest, knocking her to the ground. This time, Miharu did indeed throw another Park Ball, staring at the sphere intently as it hit the ground, shaking and wobbling. For a moment Miharu thought the battle would never end and she'd use nearly every Park Ball in her possession, but when a soft chime sounded and the ball came to rest, a relieved sigh escaped her lips as she bent down to pick it up.

"Gotcha," she said with a proud grin, as Aska came to land beside her.

Kasiya shared in on the comfort of having him on the phone, as she could hear him walking and breathing and it was comfort enough. She didn't notice him in the distance until he clicked off his PokeNav, and she waved, even though it seemed like a dumb thing to do. "Of course," she said, watching Themis happily walk over to his trainer. "He's a very well-behaved Pokemon." Allegra opened an eye sleepily to gaze at Keegan, and she let out a soft mew before she lowered her head and went back to sleep. Kasiya gave her another gentle cuddle before recalling her back into her white Premier Ball and replacing it onto her belt. "Get into any trouble while we were gone?" she asked coyly, starting to walk again. She'd told him about her battle, but she couldn't help but wonder what he'd been up to in their short time apart.

"I wouldn't say well-behaved," Keegan mumbled under his breath, glancing down at the electric type. He looked at the poor paralyzed Skitty, again feeling a bit guilty for not buying anything for healing. "She'll be okay, it won't take us too long to get to Mauville," he said reassuringly, walking along beside her. Themis yawned loudly, and Keegan recalled him as well, knowing it would be easier to keep tabs on the mischievous Manectric if he was in his Pokeball.

"I got into a battle too," he said finally, shaking his head. "Some stupid kid made me fall off of my bike just so he could challenge me to a battle. I tell you, that sort of gag is seriously getting old. And fast." He grumbled, wishing he could have gotten at least one shot at the kid, but as he recalled Tierra's evolution, his mood changed. "We won though," he said with a nod. "Artemis was amazing, as usual, and Tierra evolved into Graveler," he said proudly. "All I need to do is find a trade partner and then she can become a Golem." Being a fire type fan, most people would have thought it weird for him to be a fan of the Megaton Pokemon, seeing as it was ground/rock, but he knew the diversity was needed in order to maintain balance. It was then he realized he didn't have any fire type Pokemon on his team at all at the moment, and he chuckled. Mike would be ashamed of me, he thought, shaking his head.

"Well, I can help you evolve her," Kasiya said quickly, thinking back to the time she'd helped Sabrina evolve her Kadabra into Alakazam. "It'll be something to do while we're waiting for my bike to be repaired anyway." She recalled having said something about battling with Wattson, but she was starting to have second thoughts about it. But why not? she asked herself. It'll be a good test of my abilities here in Hoenn. But what if it's a repeat of before... She frowned, thinking back to her unsanctioned match with Winona. Fang had a clear type advantage over her Tropius, yet somehow Kasiya came out of that one the loser. Fang is a much better fighter now, she thought, smiling. It won't happen again. I promised Winona that someday we'd have a rematch, and next time I'll be the one winning and earning her badge.

She looked around as they walked, enjoying the scenery underneath Cycling Road. The grasses were lush and green, and the water around was a beautiful shade of cerulean, and Kasiya could imagine all sorts of interesting Hoenn Pokemon residing within its depths.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 09, 2008 6:50 am

Keegan grinned. He knew Kasiya was going to say just that, and he nodded. "There's no one I'd trust more with my Pokemon than you," he said, taking her hand in his as they walked. The last time he'd been this way, his mood hadn't been nearly this good. The grass seemed greener somehow, and the sky a bit more blue. You're sad, he told himself, but with a smile. It was a bit sappy of him and perhaps a little sad, but it really didn't bother him. For the first time in a while, he was happy, and that was all that mattered.

He did know that this route was usually jam-packed with trainers and their Pokemon, and again he found himself silently praying that none of them would challenge them as they continued towards Mauville.

Kasiya felt her heartbeat pick up a little as he took her hand, and she knew a little pink had flourished in her cheeks. "This is... nice," she said, looking up at Keegan, a small smile appearing on her lips. "Hoenn is such a lovely place..." she sighed, knowing that she truly loved it here. Some of my favourite people in the world were born here in Hoenn, she thought. And that makes it an even better place to visit. There was Keegan, Mike and Flannery, all from Lavaridge. There was Jaeshan too, who was from Littleroot, and Mitsu who came from Mossdeep. She thought of Kilik and M.A. as well, although she wasn't quite sure where Kilik was from (as he'd never really mentioned it). She didn't know about M.A. but she did seem like a Hoenn girl as well. Thinking about her friends made her miss them terribly, but she kept thinking about how she'd hopefully see most of them at the Beach Party, and possibly make some new ones as well.

She did notice that this place seemed to be a fairly popular place for trainers, and even though she was never one to turn down a challenge, she didn't quite feel like battling just now. Levi and Allie both needed healing, and she didn't want to chance having any of her other Pokemon hurt before they got to the safety of Mauville.
