Who is HE?! (where Lauren finds out about Gaius and Nita) Lauren Granger Lauren had decided to pay Miller a visit and finally show off her new camera. She was in a rather jovial mood lately, with only the passing thought of Nita bringing her down but then immediately pushed to the back of her brain to deal with later. She went up to knock on his door. "MILLER!" She shouted. "It's ME, not some raving psycho panda, no need for the ******** lacrosse stick!" She didn't really know how necessary that clarification was. Miller Milano Miller lay on his bed very still applying a cold water bottle to the random bruises all along his face, when Lauren first knocked the only response she got was said water bottle smashing the door.
Once she called out however he finally got up walking to the door, he cracked it open about half way glaring out at her before turning away from the door and letting it fall open. "Yahz? Whatz you wantz..." he mummbled. Lauren Granger "Wow! What crawled up your a** and... hey what the hell hapened to you!" Lauren exclaimed. She wasn't sure what to think. The whole room still smelled of fear and conflict, of sweat and a little blood. It made her nervous right away. Miller Milano Miller turned around showing off his bruised face with a scowl, "I'llz tell youz what happendz Nitaz sentz her new boyfriendz overz to kickz mah assz!" Lauren Granger Lauren's face immediately went from slightly chipper confusion to stone cold befudlement, "Boyfriend?!" Nevermind Miller was hurt here, "Boyfriend WHAT, Miller tell ME you are lying please." Lauren grabbed Miller by the shoulders and held him tight looking the poor boy straight in the eye. "God damn... WHAT THE HELL!?" She managed out suddenly. Miller Milano Miller chirped suddenly as Lauren got up in his face, he gulped and gave a shrug and a nod. "He'z came herez yellinz at meh boutz what we didz upsetinz Nita. Hellz he hadz PANDA FUZZ in hiz hair!" Lauren Granger Lauren felt her blood boiling at this point, "Who is HE! WHERE does he LIVE!" She demanded of Miller. "I NEED to see this a*****e and TALK to him." No one goes and sleeps with the girl you've been in love with for about a year, then beats up your new ambigious relationship. Or at least, that was Lauren's logic. Miller Milano Miller cringed flinching away from Lauren, the budgie didn't like how she was yelling now, it scared him really. "Ah-ah don'tz knowz! I neverz been to hiz duplexz!" He gave another frightened chirping sound. Lauren Granger Lauren wasn't really being compassionate right now, and her mind only had one thing on it at the time. It didn't have room for Miller being beat up, it didn't have room to make sure he was alright and to check to see that his wounds were minor. It only had room for Nita and the fact that she now had a boyfriend. "If you don't know, damnit I'm going to Nita right the ******** now!" Lauren's eyes were turning red and her tail was bristling. "CHRIST! How could she DO this to ME Miller!" She let go of Miller and marched quickly to the door, ready to leave just like that. Miller Milano Miller chirped again in fright at Lauren's outburt, it didn't settle well with him to see her like this. He nodded and started after her, he didn't want Nita hurt, or Lauren. So he ran faster to keep up with an angry mongoose. Over At Nita's Lauren Granger Lauren was at Nita's duplex in no time considering her fast strides. She noticed Miller was behind her, "Jesus Miller you don't have to be in this." She stopped for a rare momment of concern, "I'm sorry I got you into this damnit." She said briefly but gave him no time to comments as she continued on to Nita's door. It felt odd, being here and it not being her home. She could smell her from here, and Comet too. She had missed Comet so much and the dog had to see her this way. Lauren paused a momment to regain her courage and her rage before she banged on the door angrily. Nita MacNeal Nita had been napping peacefully on the couch, Comet curled up on the other end, when Lauren banged on the door. She leaped up, startled. The girl extricated her legs out from under Comet, who bounced awake. She knew who was at the door!" Comet barked happily; Nita tried to hush her so whoever was outside wouldn't be overrun by excited Australian Shepherd. "Coming!" she called, pushing the dog aside with her hip. "Sorry, sorry!" Nita apologized as she opened the door. Lauren. "Oh," she said abruptly, her heart sticking in her throat. Comet pushed past her and jumped up on Lauren, barking loudly. She'd come back! Miller Milano Miller wasn't far behind Lauren popping up behind her standing on the tips of his talons giving Nita just a bit of a peak at his beaten face, and the vile stare he gave her. Like hell if Lauren was here for her to make amends, and to hell with apologizing to Nita. "Whyz helloz Nitaz, you lookz surpisedz for our visitz." His voice was bitter and sharp. Lauren Granger Lauren felt cold... nearly dead inside at the sight of Nita and the happy dog made it even worse. This was not what she planned, but then again she really wasn't sure what she planned. It had been just a week maybe since she had been sleeping in the same bed wanting to spend her life with the red panda stading before her, in the duplex she was faceing. Her face had shown nothing. Miller's voice was fuzzy, mumbled in the coldness Lauren was feeling. She could barely make out the words. Lauren stood there for a while just petting Comet, staring at Nita. "I need... to talk" She whispered. Her voice was still laced with anger, but seemed to come from far away in Lauren's mind. Nita MacNeal Comet busied herself attempting to wrap her large, shaggy body around Lauren's legs, eventually settling for just flopping on her feet, a big doggy grin on her face. It took Nita a minute to realize who was at her door. Lauren... and Miller, whose face was distinctly bruised. Miller, who sounded awfully pissed off. "I-- Yes, I'm surprised," she managed, stuttering. From the looks of things, the pair hadn't come to apologize. "Talk," Nita repeated dully; she backed into her duplex, which was as clean as it was before Lauren had ever lived there. Gesturing vaguely at the various chairs, Nita returned to the couch, tucking her short legs under her. "Um... Come in then, I guess... Miller, what the hell happened to your face?" Miller Milano Miller puffed slightly, he shouldn't be mad at Nita, but Lauren's own anger fueled his own now. He moved up beside Lauren entering the duplex part way.
"Ohz mah face? Askz your Pony boyfriendz Gaiusz, he comez storminz to mah duplexz beatz s**t outz meh sayingz I owez you an apollogy soz whyz shouldz I apollogize afterz that humzh? Reallyz do give meh a reasonz becausez thatz more ******** up that youdz have him do thatz." Lauren Granger A name was finally spoken, the mystery men's name had come into play in Lauren's head. She had sat down quietly in a bit of a daze, letting Miller talk. This wasn't as she had planned but she knew something would cause her to get words back soon. Gauis... so familiar....who.... Lauren looked over to the red chair. The chair guy, Nita's friend. She felt a tinge of jealousy in the past when she saw that chair, heard it's name but amounted it to stupid paranoia and insecurity. Nita could have friends right? But NOT if they were going to steal Nita away from her. "Is that the REAL reason you kicked my a** out, to let this violent carpenter son of a b***h in?!" Lauren finally exclaimed. "How long had you been seeing him?!" Nita MacNeal Nita did a classic double-take. Gaius had gone to Miller's and bruised him up? And he'd called himself her boyfriend? A tiny part of Nita's mind was thrilled, but mostly she was just annoyed, and frustrated. She had asked him not to go 'talk' to Miller! "He's not my boyfriend!" she protested. "And I didn't send him after you. Jesus Christ, what kind of person do you think I am?" Nita stared at Lauren. Who was she to be pointing fingers about boyfriends. It was Lauren who had already slept with someone else! Miller Milano Miller raised an eyebrow at the double take, why so surprised? She had to have known about this after all being so chummy with horse man.
"Wellz I'm notz surez, you hatez my gutz becausez of a mistakez so yesz I wouldn'tz put it past youz to be pissedz at meh to send Gaius after meh." He turned to Lauren and frowned. "She bringz a good pointz up, boy friendz or notz he hadz your fuzz all overz hiz mane..." Lauren Granger Lauren too felt relief at Nita discrediting Gaius's boyfriend status. But she still had her doubts, "Then what is he NITA!?" She asked near tears. "NO one just randomly hunts down smaller creatures and beats the s**t out of them in the name of another person without FEELINGS towards that person?! And WHY ELSE would you throw me out so quickly on our very first FIGHT?! You didn't even give me a ******** chance Nita!" The tears were pouring at this time, Lauren couldn't control the emotions now that she let the flood gate open. Nita MacNeal Nita buried her face in her hands. This would probably go better if she'd been able to talk to Lauren on her own. "Miller," she said, forcing herself to be calm. "I was mad at you. You slept with my ex-girlfriend right after we broke up! Did you expect me to just go, 'Oh, well then!' and toddle away?" Nita took a few deep breaths. Calm. Composed. And then Lauren was bawling. s**t. She wanted to go comfort her, but... "Right, like you gave me so many chances? You called me a liar, and said you didn't trust me!" Nita rolled her eyes. "And then you slept with Miller," she spat. "That's really ******** trust-worthy." Miller Milano Miller hissed quietly, it was always back to the simple fact that he and Lauren had had slept together. "I'm sorry aboutz thiz... I don'tz expectz you to beh happy sunshinez but'z I don'tz want youz hatinz mah gutz!"
He turned to Lauren reaching out gently to pat her on the shoulder offering for her to hug him for comfort, "We didn'tz do it onz purpousez! Wez waz drunk we madez a mistakez but I ain'tz gona hurtz her Nitaz." Lauren Granger Lauren shrugged off Miller's affections, she didn't want affection right now as she was still focused on Nita, "Maybe I did sleep with Miller on purpose." She lied, "Doesn't matter what I'll say anyway that's what you would believe Nita. You always had me pinned as the bad girl." She crossed her arms and turned her head away, sniffling in some tears. "Doesn't matter what happened, we broke up and I'm free to do what the ******** I want. But you seem to have done whatever the ******** you wanted BEFORE we broke up." She turned to face Nita again, "Four months in a coma and you just couldn't wait to get laid could you?" Lauren accused. "I'm glad my CANCER you so wanted me to get allowed you to turn straight. Maybe you will be lucky and I can just get it again! Wouldn't that be awesome Nita, to never see me again?" Lauren exclaimed with sarcastic venom. Nita MacNeal Nita glared, mostly ignoring Miller at this point. "Fine, you can be the bad girl or whatever the hell you want. But since we're all broken up, why do you care if I'm with Gaius? Which I'm not. And I haven't gotten laid, unlike some people I could mention!" She paused to brush away angry tears. "And for ******** sake, I didn't want you to get cancer!" Gaius Harper He'd just been in the neighborhood. That was Gaius's only crime. He'd taken the long route from the site, wandering as he would, enjoying the air after the physical and emotional exertion this morning. He was even in high spirits, having thought he'd done a marvelous job with Miller - that was a boy who was set straight! No more girls hearts would be broken by him! As they drew near where Nita's duplex was, Vixen's head perked up, catching the sound and whiff of familiar friends, and with a happy bark she was off running. Gaius too had heard something, just muffled voices, but he squawked in surprised and pounded after Vixen. The voices grew louder. Vixen was already up the stairs, nosing past the people to get at Comet, when Gaius rounded the corner after her. He followed more hesitantly, wondering if there was a gathering or something here... His ears twitched up. He could hear crying! Some girl, from the sound of it, was crying! He hurried faster up the stairs, coming up to the doorway, and opened the door without knocking, calling, "Hey! Is everything alright in here?" Miller Milano Miller felt his little heart seem to pop, Lauren wouldn't use him would she? It was an honest mistake they both agreed but wasn't it her who suggested that they still see each other? His mouth moved but no words came out, at least not till Gaius busted into the room.
"Oh hellz no! You! Youz get outz! Youz ******** PSYCHOZ!" he shouted at Gaius his feathers puffing up at once. "Youz done ENOUGHZ alreadyz for one dayz!" Lauren Granger Lauren's focuse on Nita was interupted by a stranger comming in the door, then Miller's outburst towards him. Lauren got up and looked over Gauis, tears still obviously in her eyes, "Is this the guy?" Lauren exclaimed towards Nita with a smug smirk. "Well, at least I know it wasn't his dashing looks that made you go straight." Of course, Lauren had dismissed the fact that she had slept with a guy recently as well. Nita MacNeal "Gaius!" Nita exclaimed, leaping off the couch. This was either a daring rescue... or something that would only make things much, much worse. "I told you not to do anything to Miller," she said, her voice full of reproach. She whirled around at Lauren's jeering, eyes narrowed. "******** you, Lauren." Nita turned back to Gaius and gave him a hug. Whatever happened, at least now it wasn't two against one. In the midst of all the hubbub, Comet greeted Vixen playfully and then led her towards the back of the duplex, where it was quieter. Miller Milano Miller stared at Gaius with hate, pure unbridled hate, so Nita had nothing to do with it huh? Well ******** Gaius then, he'd apollogize to Nita on his own he wouldn't do a thing to apease the horse man, or rather the a** as far as Miller cared. "Doing herez? I don'tz ******** knowz!"
He turned to Lauren now shaking his head, "Apparentlyz I was just used likez some cheapz ********." He didn't know Lauren was lieing but right now he felt as bad as Nita did, he just got his a** kicked, according to Lauren's own mouth he was used. He turned for the door. "Oncez youz all decidez who'z a whore whoz a bastardz and whoz ******** whoz for funz leme knowz, I'm surez I'll be thrilled to knowz!"
And with that the budgie shoved past Gaius storming back to his own duplex slamming the door, let Lauren come back begging, she owed him one hell of an explination now. Lauren Granger And Miller finally got Lauren's attention for the night, "Miller ********... I didn't..." But before she could get more words out he left and slammed the door on her face. "s**t! See what you did Nita!" She exclaimed turning back to the panda. "Alright so it was a stupid accident but damnit... GARRR" She was at a loss for words but knew she didn't want to be here any longer. Lauren stared over towards Comet and then looked back at the door. She looked at Nita then her eyes darted towards Gaius. "You can have her! Good luck with that Mr. ******** Ed!" Lauren exclaimed. "And Miller wasn't the one that hurt her it was ME! You should of come and ******** punched MY lights out!" Lauren yelled as she came up in Gaius's face, her eyes still full with tears." Nita MacNeal Nita winced as Miller stormed past, unable to explain before he slammed the door behind him. She tucked herself against Gaius' side, glaring defiantly at Lauren. "So much for any chance of an apology," she muttered. Her knees shook from the overload of emotion. This had not gone well at all. Gaius Harper Gaius pulled his head back as Lauren raged at him, surprised by the outburst, and then Miller had his turn, and Gaius continued to stare after the man had left. What had this all been about? And what was Miller so upset over? But he had little time to think about this. Reflexively, he put his other arm around Nita as well as the yellow mongoose woman redoubled her verbal assaults. His wings fluffed up as his black feathers stood on end, ears flattening back and lip curling. "I don't know who you are, but unlike some, I don't hit girls. Miller was the man in that situation, he should have known better. It's not any better that you were trying to hurt Nita. Some friend you are." Lauren Granger The man angered Lauren, and she was so close to him. He had his arm around her... around her. The rage built up, her fist clinched and she reached a clawed hand up and quickly swiped hard at Gaius's face. "I'm LAUREN, I ******** your girlfriend first but she left me for your sorry a**!" She yellled out. Nita MacNeal "Stop it!" Nita yelled. "Stop it, stop it, stop it! I didn't leave you for anyone, I left because of you!" Her voice broke and she backed away as Lauren went for Gaius' face. Gaius Harper "GYAH!" Gaius lurched back, hand flying to his face where the red trails across his snout and lips were already starting to bead with blood. He'd let Nita go in the confusion, and was holding his free arm up in defense. Suddenly, ignored by the three islanders, a body of reddish, blue, and white fur leaped from the area by the bed, snarling and teeth bared. Vixen barreled into Lauren's back, snarling, and hooking her paws over the woman's shoulders in an effort to take her to the ground and go for her throat. She'd attacked her master! Blood had been ********-! Hell!" The horse-man sputtered, wings flailing. "What the hell, you psycho? I-I never said she was my girlfriend!" Nita MacNeal Nita's hands went up automatically, as if to stanch the blood on Gaius' face. But before she could do anything, Vixen went for Lauren. "No!" she shrieked, freezing in place. She couldn't help Lauren, she couldn't help Gaius, and she couldn't help herself. Her instincts told her to flee, but she knew her legs wouldn't carry her. Even more conflicted was Comet. The dog leaped forward and stood staring back and forth between Nita and Lauren. Vixen was her sister, but Nita and Lauren were both her mistresses. Comet whined piteously, her tail tucked between her legs. Lauren Granger Lauren had expected and prepared for a hit from the front, despite the man's statement that he 'doesn't hit girls'. Instead the attack came from behind and since she braced for impact from the front, Lauren flew foreward into Gaius. She clung instintively onto him for safety and finally got her bairings she tried to fling the animal off of her. Lauren could feel the cool trickle of blood from the back of her neck. "I'M a PSYCHO!?" She managed to get out in all of that, "YOU'RE THE PSYCHO! GET this ********... thi... OFFF!" Freedom at last. Lauren hissed violently and yelped loud shrieking sounds as she finally got herself free from the animal. Gaius Harper Before Gaius could do anything to defend either himself or Nita, he suddenly found himself the buffer of a very angry and very clawed weasel-woman, and on top of that, his snarling defensive dog. It was a good thing Nita's table was there, or they'd have all gone down onto the floor. Needless to say, whatever was on it got knocked about as he crashed back, catching himself with an arm, and his wings sweeping out. Everything was pain and confusion. He wanted to lash out, but he risked hurting everyone around him, including Nita and his own dog. He wanted to bite too, to get this crazy OFF him, but he resisted that urge, just baring his incisors instead. "Get OFF, woman! I don't care if you ARE Nita's Ex, if this is how you treated her, it's a wonder she was faithful to you all those months you were gone!" he growled, angry that this woman was raging at him for no good reason and slapping Nita with verbal abuse on top of it all. Nita MacNeal Nita managed to shove herself under the table as papers and pens slid from its surface. She found Comet under there as well, her whining a barely audible keen. "Get out, get out, get OUT!" Nita yelled. She needed to tidy up, to make sure Gaius was okay, and that there wasn't blood on the carpet. "Please, just go..." Lauren Granger Lauren's blood was boiling, and she wanted to hit Gaius again, but there really was no longer a reason to. Besides she had JUST got that damn dog off of her, and didn't want her to attack again. She reached up panting to feel the wound, it was larger than she had origionally thought at the momment of the adreneline rush. Lauren felt a bit faint from it. Things were getting blurry and sometimes there were two Nita's and two Gaius's each. Vixen was crouched growling and backed up at Lauren as if she were saying the same thing as Nita. Get out... leave and don't come back"Leave and... don't come back huh Nita? You were so quick to say that... No second chances here. One strike... you're gone." Lauren said panting as if that was a warning to Gaius. She wanted so badly to be with her again, so badly to at least be friends but after tonight she knew that wouldn't happen. She held her hand hard on her neck, trying to get the bleeding to stop. "Hell... yeah no one would want to love Lauren. It's just to painful." She said in self pity quietly as she finally did leave. As she closed the door, Lauren's tears fell like a floodgate had just opened, and audibly too. Slowly, Lauren regained her composure and did leave. The mongoose limped towards the nurse's office and then... if she could stomach it... to Miller's. Gaius Harper Gaius pushed himself up off the table, pulling the hand from where it was clutching his nose and glanced at it. There was some blood spots, but not too bad. Still stung like none other, though. Like a really bad cat scratch. And he had little doubt it could easily get infected. A pat with his palm showed there was already a little swelling around the gouges. Vixen licked her lips, cleaning them of the bit of mongoose that'd come away with her. Most of the damage had come from Lauren shoving her away, that's when the teeth had torn in most. The dog's head remained low, as did her tail. Normally she wasn't a violent dog, but this had put her on edge, and she was worried for her master. Gaius, however, was worried about someone else. He bent over to glance under the table at Nita, worried she'd somehow been hurt in the fight. "Nita? You alright?" Nita MacNeal Nita nodded tearfully and crawled out from under the table. "I'm okay," she mumbled. "Physically, at least." She cast a backwards glance at Comet, who was still cowering several feet away. "s**t, she really got you good," Nita said, eying the scratches across Gaius' face. She pulled herself up, visibly shaking. "You should get those washed..." Focusing on cleaning up an injury was much easier than thinking about what had actually just happened. Once she thought she had proper control of her limbs again, Nita bustled to the bathroom, returning a minute later with a washcloth soaked in hot water and a small tube of antibiotic ointment. Gaius Harper He waved a hand, mumbling something as he tried to pass it off as only minor. Really! It wasn't anything to worry about! Yet she insisted, and so he remained standing there. When she came back, he winced and pulled his head out of her grip, making a boyish nuisance of himself as she tried to tend to his wounds. "Nagh! I'm fine! Really!" Nita MacNeal Nita frowned dubiously and let him go, although she managed to wipe off the worst of the blood. "If you're sure...," she said, hesitating. "Just... Be careful." Attempting a small smile, Nita patted Gaius' arm. Gaius Harper Gaius wrinkled his nose, the ointment stinging a bit as he did so. "It's okay... I have some bandages. I'll be fine, really. What I'm worried about is you." He caught her hand, giving it a small squeeze. "Are you going to be okay? Need me to stay?" Nita MacNeal Nita shrugged and looked away, although she didn't let go of his hand. Glancing at the table, she shook her head slightly. It really wasn't too much of a mess, but at the moment it seemed like a total disaster area. "Yeah," she said finally. "I'll be okay, just need to get this straightened up..." Gaius Harper Gaius gave her a long look, wondering if she was really being truthful, but his nose was starting to bleed a little again. He did need some kind of bandages put on it. "Alright, then..." he said in an unconvinced tone. "Just... call me if you need me, okay?" He gave a quick wave at Vixen, who dashed to his side, and giving her one last hand-squeeze, let her go and went out the door. And he still didn't fully realize that it had all been his fault for confronting Miller earlier. Nita MacNeal "I will," she promised, with a jerky nod of her head. With Gaius and Vixen gone, Comet finally emerged from under the table. She whined softly, pressing her body against Nita's legs. The red panda girl knelt down and hugged Comet around the neck. "I know," she muttered. "I hated it, too." Wiping away yet a few more tears, Nita set about straightening up the duplex. Those physical objects were the only aspects of her life that she could really control. [Fin]

So much strain recently.... feelings of betrayal, of guilt, of feeling like the world around you doesn't make as much sense as it used to. And then, when you wake up one morning with an all-too familiar mark in your arm. You know, you have known, that one more change was impending. Did you view it with fear? With hope? Did you want this day to ome to get things over - to be finalized as many others before you? Though, that is not the only new thing. There is also a note: Quote: Even if you do not see us every day, we are still here, and we still watch. We know that things have not been easy for you recently, Lauren. And for all that we can control, we cannot control the heart. If you need to talk, even if Moreau is not in the labs, I can lend an ear. I apologize for ensnaring you in the general April Fool's day prank, though the setup did not promote a selective targeting. Hopefully this, your last change, will bring you a sense of understanding and comfort. ~ Duvert And not too long afterwards, the change begins... Much like Nita, you feel awkward, nauseous... and hungry. Your form begins to thicken before your eyes as you skin seems to loosen abit on your form, and your muscles and bones shift. Your thighs and shins shorten, the flesh and mucle makign it so it is harder to even distinguish where one starts and the other begins. Your feet lengthen more, and your tail grows quickly, whipping about as your form changes. Your face pushes out to a full muzzle, and even the horns grow a bit longer on your head. Insulating fur grows thicker in places - specifically a proud ruff around your neck. And then finally, finally they abate. This one was painful, much more than many of the last - and more internal, as muscles and bones shifted.... but in the end, after your body regains its strength, everything seems so... in tune! So right - you feel almost as if you could dodge a bullet - your whiskers twitching in the air and sensing subtle changes in the winds or movements... Your muscles, your legs - even though shorter, allow you to move nimbly if not necessarily a fast run.
