((*chuckles* Well, I wish I could say I'd had first-hand experience... but, alas, it is not so.))

Kaledan nodded, deftly catching the brush that was tossed to him. He dipped the brush into the water to wet it throughly and started scrubbing one side of the neck, glancing over at the greenrider from time to time to make sure he wasn't scrubbing too hard or not hard enough.

((lol xd ))

Chaeren began to sing as she scrubbed her dragon. It was a song without words that she always sang with her pretty, lilting voice as she worked to help pass the time. It wasn't long before her scrubbing fell into time with her singing. Scrb scrub splash dunk scrub.
The singing seemed to get the attention of five flits as well as all of them gathered before Chaeren, eyes whirling in a happy manner as they lent their voices to hers, creating a melody that echoed pleasantly across the lake.

Yersith joined in as well, playing the lower half of the scale with a low thrum that would someimes change to a high on in order to accompany her rider at certain points in the song. 'I like it when we sing mine, it makes me feel...happy.' the dragon told her rider telepathicaly.
'As do I love, as do i.' she replied before looking around at Kaladen and smiling as she continued both song and work.

Kaledan was a bit startled as the group started singing all around him. He couldn't sing and he knew that fact very well. But that didn't stop his scrubbing from falling into the beat. He could play instruments and keep beat, but singing was just out of the question.

The boy paused to look up at the fair of firelizards as they added their own voices in. He'd heard that firelizards could sing with people when taught, but these just joined in. Had the greenrider trained them already? Or did flits just like to sing naturally? Curious, Kaledan pondered over that as he went back to scrubbing the green's side.

The song ceased when Chaeren kicked both legs over one side of Yersith's back and slid down into the water, cutting off the sound of her voice. At the sudden ending of the song, the flits scattered and circled around the spot where the rider had gone under. Chaeren resurfaced on the other side of her green in oder to scrub down at water level, giggling as she peered over her back at her flits. She splashed water at them, scattering them.
She smiled over at Kaledan and asked "How are things going over there?"
Yersiths gently whirling eyes followed 'He does well mine. He does not scrub to hard.' she said approvingly.

Kaledan looked up as the song ended rather abruptly, with a slight splash. The greenrider was gone! He turned his head, looking for her, spotting her when she resurfaced and then splashed her fair of firelizards. He huffed softly in slight amusement.

"Tiring." Was his honest answer. "How do you manage?" He had only scrubbed a small portion of the entire green and was already wearing out. He rotated one shoulder to relax it a bit before moving a bit to get to the next area.

Chaeren chuckled as she finished off the front half of her mount and slid down Yersiths back to join Kaledan at the rear so she could help him."You just get used to it I suppose." she said with a gentle and loving smile back at her mounts front end that was currently engaged blowing water playfully at the flits.
"Your abilities grow as they do. Have to really." she said with a shrug. "Because if you don't, it doesn't just hurt them, it hurts you too." she said and tapped the side of her head before going back to her scrubbing.

Kaledan glanced back towards Yersith's head as the greenrider did, once again huffing softly with slight amusement at the flits. The boy thought on the woman's next words. That made sense. Dragons started out small, less hide to scrub. As they grew, you got stronger and were able to scrub the additional growth.

The boy found himself hoping, as he continued to scrub the green's hide, that he would be doing this one day with his own dragon. He was old enough to Stand now. And a Hatching would be coming up soon. Something for him to look forward to.

"Tell me Kaledan, how old are you?" Chaeren inquired as she worked. Her white clothes that had clung to her body so revealingly were quickly drying in the heat of the morning sun as she sat atop her greens broad back and worked. Only her forarms were wet from dunking her brush in the water and splashing the cool water across her mount, making her legs damp as well.
Basa landed on the back of his owners shoulder as the woman leaned forward, shoulder muscles working as she scrubbed. He chirped curiously and stuck his muzzle in her ear and chirped again.
Chaeren giggled at the sensation and waved the flit off. He only returned and did it again though until she finally took a moment's rest and scratched the bronze flit on the head, causing him to half-lid his eyes in delight.

Kaledan set the brush down for a moment to rest his arm as he answered. "Fourteen." He reached across with his left hand to rub at his right shoulder for a few moments. A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips at the bronze's antics. Shaking his head, the boy picked the brush back up.

Maybe all greenriders weren't that bad. Of course, he'd always thought more highly of greenriders than of brownriders. They were the absolute worst. He frowned as a suppressed memory forced its way out. His expression grew almost angry before, with a small shake of his head, he was able to push the memory back down to the depths of his mind where it belonged.

Yersith looked back at the pair on her back, eyes whirling a bit faster as she picked up on the youngsters anger. 'Something angers him, mine. Ask him what it is. I am curious about why he does not much like greens, or browns either apparently.' she said and snorted before turning her head away again.
Chaeren raised her eyebrow at Yersith.'Alright love, if it worries you this much, I will, though I don't much like prying into peoples private life.'
She turned back and said "Slide off real quick Kaledan, Yersith needs to roll over so we can do her belly." the rider said, sliding down her dragons shoulder as she did so.

Kaledan looked up from his scrubbing and nodded, slipping down the dragon's side into the water, making sure he had the brush still. He kept a bit of distance between himself and Yersith once he was in the water, not wanting to get smacked upside the head by a limb. His legs worked at keeping him up as he let his shoulder rest in the cooling water while they waited for the dragon to roll over.

Yersith folded her wings tightly to her back and rolled over so she was floating on her back effortlessly. The fair of flits landed on her neck and chest, spreading out to sun themselves. Her flesh twitched occasionally when one of them shifted, Chaeren knew she could be fairly ticklish there for a dragon.
The green rider climbed up onto her dragons stomach, using one of Yersiths arms to help her do so. She set to work once more, scrubbing the lighter green underbelly of her otherwise dark green dragon. She worked in silence for several minutes before asking "Why is it that you seem to resent green and brown dragons, Kaledan." without pausing in her work, face still as pleasant as ever, though not quite smiling.
"Yersith couldn't help but pick up on an extra powerful bit of emotion you had a few minutes ago, and she is curious...as am I." she stated calmly.

Kaledan managed to pull himself back onto the green and set back to work. When Chaeren asked her question, the boy was rather startled. He blinked, looking at the green's head. She could sense his anger earlier? That was kind of scary.

The boy's shoulders slumped and his expression grew hard to read. "It's just... something. From my past." He turned his head away from the greenrider, gazing out over the water for a moment before, with a sigh, he went back to work.

The memory was trying to push its way back to the surface, trying to get him to remember those feelings of being abandoned and forgotten. With a sigh, he forced his mind onto a happier track.

Chaeren knew the boy was trying to avoid the subject, but was curious all the same. She didn't like to think that someone might resent her dragon for some unknown reason when she hadn't done anything to provoke the feeling.
"It's not good to keep that kind of stuff cooped up inside you." she said as she continued scrubbing, wet white shirt clinging tightly to her feminine form as she worked. Basa had spread himself out across her shoulders, clearly enjoying the rocking motion she made when she scrubbed her dragon.
"Not that I'm saying that you have to talk about it with me, but you should with someone you trust. Not that I wouldn't listen of course." she said, smiling at him briefly.

Kaledan paused for a moment, frowning, before he started scrubbing again. Really, he didn't trust anyone. This greenrider was the person to whom he'd talked the most recently. Well, recently being the last couple of Turns. But he didn't know her that well and didn't feel like spilling his guts to her.

His thoughts turned reflexive as he continued to scrub. He really hadn't had a close friend all of his life. Perhaps when he had been very little, but he had distanced himself from everyone after about six Turns of age. He had never had someone to turn to and talk to.

The boy glanced over his shoulder again at the green's head. She was curious? About him?
