Sterling, who worked so very hard to keep his emotions in check, allowed a tear to slip down his cheek. So many lives ended that fateful night. Worse still that the lives were ended by vampires. Sterling was acquiring a hate for them, as they did despicable deeds...he felt certain that he would want to kill any he saw.
Sterling wanted to comfort Vampirella, he wanted to throw his arms around her and stop her sobbing. He didn't know if it was appropriate, but he knew that he couldn't just let her weep in front of him. Against his better judgment, as it was uncharacteristic of him to show such emotion, he tentatively placed a paw on Vampirella's shoulder. "It wasn't your fault..." he murmured, "you were outnumbered...there was nothing you could have done."

Tihamar stuck his head around the corner; the cheekiest smile ever seen on his cute little face. They had only been left alone for a few minuets before the young god was crawling out of the nursery with an utter determination possessed only by the young. This newly hatched youngster certainly wasn’t keen on waiting to explore his home. He was going to get out and about right now. Giggling mischievously he continued plodding along; his destination unclear. Not that it matter. The destination was all important.

Eriannia spotted her brother as he made a break for it and she crawled after him. No way was she getting left out of the fun. She grabbed his tail and followed behind, but unlike her brother she was dazzled by the temple around them. There were so many shiny things... she stopped dead, looking at something that had caught her eye-her hand still tightly gripping her brother's tail.

The Worlds Worst Accident Raelyn's heart jumped as she was startled by Vesira's presence, and she turned quickly to face her. She was blushing bright pink, since she has been frightened few times, and it was especially embarrassing to have been startled so in front of the goddess. She quickly regained her composure and cleared her throat, as her nervousness and fear seemed to melt away with Vesira right in front of her.
"I am here for many reasons. First, I heard rumor of someone more beautiful than me, and I came to investigate. Might I humbly say, those rumors were more than right. Second, I am currently out of house and home, and I seek shelter. Thirdly, and most important, we have a common enemy, in that I despise those vile ticks who call themselves vampires. It would give me great honor to be a soldier of yours and aid in ridding the world of these insects."
Raelyn gave a deep bow, and looked into Vesira's eyes.
"I, Raelyn, am subject to your will." ...to steal your heart away. Vesira nodded slowly, taking in the meanki. She glanced into the rafters and at her silent call a bat came flitting down and landed on the hand Vesira offered it. The blue eyed creature peered at the meanki, scrutinizing her as the goddess had done. It was indeed the same bat that had lead the female here, and now it was passing its judgment. It chirped once and flew away. Vesira grinned as the bat retreated to the darkness above. "Seems Judgment sees some potential in you." Her voice was almost seductive as she purred, "To be a huntress is a lot of work. I expect you to learn from the other zamphirs here as much as you can. I'll have my eyes on you." She gestured slightly to the bats overhead and dissipated into the air. The bat affectionately named Minion floated down from the rafters and circled the meanki's head and then flitted down a corridor, leading her to her new room.

"It wasn't your fault..." he murmured, "you were outnumbered...there was nothing you could have done." She shuddered and tried to get a hold of herself. She patted his paw on her shoulder and gave him a weak smile. She had carried this burden for a long time, but the lie she told hurt almost as much. She didn't know if she could tell Sterling the whole truth. It was a real burden and she didn't want to weigh him down with such a revelation. There was already a Zamphir in the temple that suspected her secret, and to give that knowledge to Sterling would only prove dangerous to him. She sighed and stared at the floor. If only she could tell him the truth of that night... that she HAD indeed gone in there in the face of certain death, but was met with a worse fate. She shook her head violently. No. Not a worse fate. She was still around to decimate the vampire ranks, and that was all that mattered. She looked at Sterling again, new fire in her eyes. "I have spent many nights since avenging those that fell, and will spend many nights hereafter. This is why I away from the temple so much. It was my oath that night, to slaughter all the ones from that island."

The young God stopped and peered over his shoulder when he felt something wrap around his tail and gave a beaming smile upon seeing his sister. He turned back around to continue but found himself unable to go anywhere as his sister stared around in wonder. This wasn’t a sightseeing tour! “Eriii!” He whined. “Go?” Tiha watched her, waiting impatiently but not about to go anywhere until she was ready.

Eriannia pouted her lower lip slightly. "Pweetty....?" She pointed with her other hand at the shiny things of the temple. Their mother was one for decadence, it seemed, at least in this part of the temple. The young goddess reluctantly moved to follow her brother, seeing his determination for escape.

Tihamar nodded his agreement and then pointed the way he wanted to go. “More pweeties, look see.” He promised with more nodding and then began crawling again, making sure that whenever his tail got a little too stretched out he slowed down. He wasn’t quite making the progress he wanted, but he had an adventure companion.

Eriannia giggled, tugging on her brother's tail playfully. She noticed an open door that seemed to lead out the back of the temple. "Tiha, Tiha!" She tuged his tail and pointed excitedly. She could smell strange things out the open door and she wanted to go and see what it was.

Tiha turned to see what his sister was pointing at and then looked longingly down the hallway he’d been so determined to travel down. Well, a detour would be okay. All heroes had to take detours. Besides, the little god really wanted to make his sister happy. “Kay Eri.” He grinned and then changed course taking them both into the funny smelling room.

The door led to a hall. At the end was a bright light-like the sun. Eriannia bounced excitedly. "Tiha!" She gave him another playful tug. "Out!" A slight breeze found its way to the pair, bringing with it the strong smell of flowers and dirt.

“Out? Out!” Tiha brightened considerably and then powered his way over to the door, crawling as fast as his hands and knees could carry him. It was slightly ajar as Tihamar peeked out first and then gave a delighted squeak. He part-opened, part-squeezed his way past the door, trying not to budge it too much, as if that would alarm someone to their whereabouts.
“Eriiiii!” Glorious light and freedom!

Sterling smiled at her, a concerned look in his eyes. "It is such a daunting task...even for such a skilled fighter such as yourself. However, I will not give you the dishonor of my worries. Just know that I am concerned for your safety...even though my concern isn't worth all that much. It is an honorable thing you are doing, and I would not discourage you from that." Sterling saw the hurt and pain in her eyes, along with a burning desire for revenge. What had happened that night? He almost suspected that something had happened to her, but she showed no scars, no signs of trauma. Perhaps he was just being foolish. He put the thought out of his mind. "If I was of any use to anyone, I would offer my services to you, to help you in this task...but I am generally worthless in combat, a liability even, and it would help your avenging spirit if you destroyed them yourself." He offered her a weak sort of smile, as he was trying to play it tough while revealing one of his shortcomings. He did feel genuinely useless to the Zamphirs, although he doubted that he would have been promoted if he were so.

"Tiha!" She squeaked and crawled after him, pushing the door open further. She giggled wildly. FREEDOM! And lots of shiny to see! She moved further out the door and tugged on Tihamar's tail. Her smile faded when she noticed a familiar bat looming overhead. "Momma!"

She stroked his cheek and gave him a light chuckle. "You are not useless, my dear. My Goddess would not have taken a shine to you if that were so." She sighed, still lost in memories. "Your concern is touching, but unnecessary." She fidgeted slightly. Should she tell him her secret? Vesira knew, of course. But this male that she hardly knew? He would shun her for sure. No matter. She would simply leave again. She'd fulfilled Vesira's orders. "I can not be harmed so easily..." she began slowly. She took a breath to steady her voice. Such humiliation... "You see... that night... on the island... they did not kill me, though they could. There's was a more ironic punishment. They made me a vampire." She looked to the ground, waiting for Sterling to storm out of the room.
