Canis: I give to you, kudos points. I'm a fan of all the anime you listed. xp

Seriously, the man has taste.

I will always hold that Hikaru no Go is one of the great mangas of our time. I wish more people liked that one, there just isn't any violence in it so nobody pays attention to it. Anybody heard of it? No? Didn't think so.

OMFG!!!
I love Hikaru No Go I have all the volumes 1-10 currently.
Although it may not be violent and have the action of other mangas it's so intense and I love.
Have you kept up with the manga in the Shonen Jump which is ahead or do you just buy the graphic novels that are released every so often?
I subscribe and buy biggrin

Sadly, no, I do not keep up with Hikaru these days. My dad used to have a subscription to Shonen Jump, but a) he doesn't anymore and b) I live on my own so it wouldn't matter if he did.

I've thought about subscribing to SJ myself, but I have already missed so much that I just can't justify the extra expense.

I've never seen it, but it's probably awesome. I think Hikaru is one of those mangas that would translate over to anime really really well. Too bad I can't say the same about Naruto...

Yes I've seen a bit of the anime and the dubbing is pretty good unlike certain ninjas in orange jumpsuits.....

Anyone here a fan of the manga/anime Black Cat?

Man you guys are harsh on Naruto. Not keeping up with the manga or something?

However, seriously, Hikaru no Go? C'mon people. Greatest manga? It's no where near the level of Monster, Mushishi, or Vagabond.

Edit:: I don't see what the problem with the Naruto dub is. Irony being what it is the characters actually sound, oh I don't know, like they should. The Japanese VA for Naruto was just... bad. Plus, dattebayo... seriously that is just meaningless nonsense. He's come closer to saying things like believe it and what not in the manga than dattebayo.

I have no problems with the English dub of the Naruto anime whatsoever. For me, dubs > subs in pretty much every case. I was just saying that I prefer the Naruto manga to the anime, regardless of dub or sub.

Also, I don't think that Hikaru no Go is the greatest mange/anime. It would probably be on my Top 10 list, though.

I'm just disappointed with Naruto as a whole. The anime, as I see it, is an average translation. it misses some of the essence of the manga, but what anime doesn't?

But I'm having some problems with how the Naruto Manga is going. The Akastuki leader is a disappointment.

Pain or Madara? Translation is pretty iffy on which is the leader. In any case, I'm rather enjoying the whole Pain/Konan part. Mostly because of Jiraiya but still it's nice to have more about the world revealed. Pain isn't doing anything random either considering old lady from the beginning of the post-time skip arc called the bijuu the shinobi WMDs. He's just going from Atom to Hydrogen Bomb.

My only complaint is that he'd fit in with Metal Gear Solid a little too well.

It's a bit early to call disappointment. Unless you've been disappointed for the last 50 chapters or so.

Well I hate the English dub but I love Naruto overall but I prefer Bleach over it

Supposedly Pain is the leader and Madara was commanding him... i think?

You guys think Jiriya's gonna die at the godly hands of his former student?

I wanna find something I've wanted all along....

I dunno, I used to think people that say dubs suck and subs were better were just stupid. I didn't see how something as simple as voices could make something better than another. But then I got impatient about waiting for new episodes so I started watching the fansubs for a while until I caught up with the weekly releases of the fansubs.

So once I caught up, I checked out the new dubbed episode to see how far ahead I was and as soon as I heard Naruto's voice, I swear I wanted to chop my ears off. Not that I absolutely hate the dubbed one but I prefer the subbed one. I mean, if the dubbed one were going the exact pace as the subbed one and they were both at the same level, I would probably watch the dubbed because I like to understand what I'm watching. If I want to read, I'll just read the Manga's.

But since the subbed series is way ahead(like most animes are, Japan gets everything first of course) and the voices aren't annoying, Subs>Dubs for me. Dattebayo is also a lot more bearable than "BELIEVE IT!!!" over and over again -.-'.

But yeah, don't know if this is what Serenata(Sorry, still getting used to his new name) meant but Dattebayo is starting to piss me off too. The trolls are funny for a little bit but it just gets old an plain annoying. "We're dropping Bleach", bullshit, most everybody that watches their fansubs knows that they're going to go "HAHAHAHAH!!! n00bz just got TROLL3D!!! UB3R PWN!!!!".

Seriously, they may be fansubbing the stuff for free, but that doesn't mean they need to be assholes about it.

I'm sorry but Naruto's Japanese cast is horrible save a few. Especially the VA they chose for Naruto. It doesn't even sound male. It sounds like a ferret going the a meat grinder. They took the typical Shonen stereotype VA and stuck her on Naruto. At least English Naruto sounds like a gutter rat and boy going into his teenage years.

There are plenty of anime where the Japanese did a good job of casting. Naruto is not one of them. Hell, Bleach might be a crappy series but at least they casted characters properly.

Plus Crispin Freeman is Itachi and the dub is skipping on the fillers and going straight into Shippuuden/post time skip arc.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate Bleach since SS ended. The arrancar arc ranks up there with some of the dumbest crap ever written. You can sum up the entire plot of Bleach in one name and a suffix.

"Kurosaki-kun..." That's all it is. Bleach is horribly trashy made for the 20 year old Yaoi bait market.

In all honesty, I used not to understand the whole, "The english voice actors are annoying" But then, I realized it's just a case of, "Not what I'm used to" It really is better to hear it in your own language, Especially if you can't understand japanese. I mean, prefering one language over another isn't good. You might turn into the one of these retards out here who say, "the japanese version is better" all the time to everything they see.

Pain. His whole design so far seems generic. I think was better when he was faceless. I mean, I kinda had high hopes. But seriously, it seeems like Kishimoto has stopped caring about this series. Madara will probably turn out generic as well. I just hope I'm wrong.

The series has actually been much tighter as far as writing goes since the post time skip arc started. It's far less sloppy then the Chuunin Exam segment pre-Gaara fight. Plus, with the quality of the art, it seems like Kishimoto cares.

Though, everything is technically generic in everything because everything has been done. Everything is derivative of something at this point. However, we've still got time in this Jiraiya/Konan/Nagato moment.

It beats a pink haired mad scientist transvestite like Zaelopolo.

As far as language goes, it really is the script and tone. Naruto doesn't sound good in Japanese for a 12/13yr old Gutter rat, nor does he sound like a 15/16 yr old male in shippuuden. They just didn't cast properly for the characters and their personalities.
