The stars were just beginning to awake with the setting of the sun. Orange, gold, and red were bursting across the sky only to fade into darkness. A gentle breeze rushed the sand while the lulling sound of crashing waves could put a cub to sleep. With the dimming light, Ravi was nestled in the sand, lost in thought.

So long has it been since he last saw his mother. It pained him to think of such memories about her and Kol, the disappointment was overwhelming. Grief consumed the male, hardening his heart to the world. How selfish he was! To think that his mother was only thinking of the best for him, but he had saw it as betrayal on her part. Only, to find out later on, the hard way, that it was a necessity to be able to defend oneself. Golden eyes were downcast as he raked his front paw through the sand.

Watching the sand sift through his toes made him wonder. Wonder about how his mother was doing, and his half-siblings that he'd never know. It ashamed him to think of what his mother told them about him, or even worse, what she had not said about him. His half-siblings might not even know of his existance. But, as much as he regrets leaving on such bad words, the most pain came from the fact that he has no way of knowing what is happening to this day. To think, that each day goes by without his mother knowing about his well-being and vice-versa. His mother could have even passed on into the afterlife and he would have no word of it! What an awful son he has become! He is not worthy to be his mother's flesh and blood, she was so noble while he was so cowardly. Completely drowned in his self-reflection, he had failed to notice a familiar scent getting closer to his resting spot.

After taking a stroll through the shore in the hopes of running into her father or sister, but Sevati had no luck tonight. They were no where to be found at the moment, but she was not worried as they could take care of themselves. Her tail flicked slightly before she stopped dead in her tracks at the sight before her. Ravi was no where to be found. Her throat tighten in worry, as a newfound emotion swarmed inside of her. Where did he run off to!

Green eyes searched the immediate area but with no luck. With the dimming sun, the male will blend in more to the surroundings while she'd stick out more with her pale coat. Turning away from their sleeping area, she went in search of the male, trying to track down his faint scent. It took her a while, with a few dead ends before she came to the right trail. She followed Ravi's scent for some time before it became stronger. Once she had found his trail, she spotted him some distance away resting on the sand.

The white lioness stopped in her tracks to take in the sight before her. She wanted to remember this sight: the dimming, golden light splashed over Ravi's resting form. He looks so serene and peaceful. Mesmorized by his form, she could have stood here all evening, content to just look at him. And this scared her. Was she becoming obsessed with Ravi? Why was she so worried when he was out of her sight but not worried about her own family? Was something wrong with her? Shaking those thoughts away, she walked towards Ravi only to notice the troubled expressed displayed on him and him not acknowledging her presence. Something was wrong with him, she could feel it. Pressing her muzzle against his cheek, she whispered softly to get his attention, "The dying sun would not be happy with that look on your face."

Every kind of feeling was starting to well inside of him, but before they could burst, Ravi felt something warm brush up against him. Startled by the sudden intrusion into his thoughts, he was about to make a remark before a sweet scent filled his senses. His white lioness had come and found him. Gold eyes turned as his gaze was filled with Sevi. How she looked so beautiful in the dimming light. Blushing at the thought, he turned his gaze away from the lioness.

"At least you're here to change that." He replied, happily attached to the lioness but unable to fully tell her of his feelings. There were so many conflicting emotions, but the most prevelant one was rejection. He was so afraid that Sevi didn't feel the same way he did. He never knew a father, he never had a family other than his mother since all he knew was that his father was a monster. His craving for a family was so strong, and deep down, he was slightly jealous of Sevati and her family. It felt wrong, but that was nature.

A soft sigh escaped his muzzle as he lower his head, "I was just thinking about my mother...I miss her."

She lied down next to the male as Sevati heard his words, they broke her heart into a million pieces. Everything was so complicated in his life, why couldn't things be easy for him? She knew he had a hard cubhood and it got a little better only to get a little worse again. He just couldn't get a break now, could he?

Her shoulder touched the male's as a chill went up her spine. It felt so warm right here next to Ravi and she didn't understand why her stomach was feeling a little funny all of a sudden. Pushing all that away, she touched his cheek softly as she spoke softly, "I miss my mom too, I wonder all the time what she's doing and what's she thinking about...if she even misses me or not? It's hard and sometimes I just want to cry because I feel my family is falling apart," She was afraid and she knew just how close Ravi was to his mother, "Your mother is probably worried about you, that I'm sure, but you're an adult and she knows that. It's alright to miss your mom, but don't let it consume you."

Lime green eyes gazed up at the starry sky, wondering how many relatives on her dad's side were shining down on her? Life's been difficult, but things can get better, right? "We can make the best of this place, our home, right Ravi? At least we have each other!"

As the two touched shoulders, a tingle shot through Ravi as he couldn't help but blush and hoping that his face didn't betray him. He raised his head a bit before he felt something get caught in his throat by her last words. His heart was racing and he knew that he had fallen for Sevati...who wouldn't? Unsure if his voice would betray him, he stayed quiet for a few moments, soaking in her words.

What she said was true though, he was an adult and he was letting the past overtake him...just like his mother. Ears lowered as he enjoy the gentle sea breeze against his fur. It helped to cool his heating face before he turned to look at Sevi, "You're right, I can't let my past take over my future. The same thing happened with my mom, she was consumed by the past...I don't wish the same to happen to me...." He let the gentle breeze carry his voice away.

Leaning back against Sevi, "I am lucky to have you in my life, I don't think I'd be where I am now if it wasn't for you. I hope this home will be just what I have been looking for."

Her face had started to feel heated as Sevati turned away from Ravi. His words were so kind, so gentle that she couldn't help but feel her eyes water slightly. This is what she has been looking for her whole life. A place to belong with someone to enjoy it with. Sure, she had her sister Ausi who she enjoyed. But, even as a cub, Ausi was always out with her friend all the time, which left her all alone. And now, she had a special friend to spend time with.

Her tail flicked slightly as she returned her gaze to her side, on her companion. She didn't feel all that special. She shook her head, "Don't say that, Ravi. I was just at the right place, at the right time." She couldn't help but wonder what would of happened to Ravi if she hadn't been there to step in. He probably would have bled to death...her head shook, no, she couldn't be thinking about those things at a time like this. In a soft voice, "This place just feels right, there's something about this place that suits well with me. I think this is what I've been longing for..." Her voice trailed off softly.

With memories of her cubhood flooding through, she couldn't help but feel nostalgic for her homeland. The trees, their family cave, the streams, it was her home even if she was not welcomed there. In a whimsical voice, "I used to be so jealous of Ausi. She would spend the whole day with her friend while I was left to wander the area close to our den. I met one cub back then, but didn't get to spend enough time with her to really know her. But, while I was jealous of Ausi, she was also very jealous of me because of the relationship I had with our father," She paused briefly, "I always wanted to spend a lot of time with Ausi, but she was off with her friend the majority of the time. I longed for a friend I play with, confide in, and ultimately, spend time with. When I look at it now, it's plan to see that Ausi and I are two pieces of a whole. She is everything I'm not, and I'm everything she's not. My father used to tell me that we were very alike, but at the same time, completely opposite from one another. I didn't think too much about it then as I do now."

Her lime green eyes shifted down towards the sand as she pawed at it gently, watching the golden sand in the dimming light, "Back then, I hated Ausi for what she was...but really, I hated myself for what I wasn't and thus, placed the blame on my sister. It was hard to see her again after some time, all those hard feelings were hard to control when they all come up at once. I would not want you to endure the same feelings as I did on that day. Because, you have endured more than enough in your time to not live the rest of your life knowing that you are happy with where you are. I am no one special, but just a regular lioness."

By the sound of Sevi's voice and her body language told Ravi many things. One of which, that he was the first lion to hear her inner thoughts and emotions that she's bottled inside of her. Honored that she trusted him this much, he gave her his undivided attention as that was the best he could do. His golden eyes soften a bit as he took in her words, replaying them over in his mind and letting her melodic voice weave it's way through his body.

He couldn't help but relate some of the things she spoke about. He's always wanted a friend to have throughout his life...the only lion he could consider a friend was the one he met briefly, Ger. He couldn't make any friends in the desert, he was not even supposed to be alive considering his mother was a slave. He shook his head, "Sevi, you are anything but a regular lioness! You were, but a young cub, when you stepped into the fight to protect me, a lion you didn't even know. How many cubs would do a thing like that?" His gold eyes looked straight into her lime green ones, "You are extraordinary! While I can't say that I would have done the same thing as you did, I can definitely say that I admire that. While you might think that I'm entitled to have all the happiness in the world, you are just as entitled as I am, Sevi."

He let his voice settle into silence before the emotions started to swell inside of him. He didn't know how much longer he'd be able to keep his feelings for Sevi a secret. Although, it was starting to ring true that this is what he's always been looking for. Closing his eyes, he inhaled deeply, taking in the salty airy. It was now or never. Slowly, he let his emotions overcome him, "Sevi, I can honestly say that I've never felt this way in my life before. Ever since you came into my life, things have changed...I have changed. You've helped me in so many ways I don't even know where to begin. I've been wanting to tell you for so long, and ever since you've become an adult, I've been afraid of what you're feelings are on this matter," He paused to let all that sink in before continuing, "I feel like I'm whole, that the piece I've been missing my whole life is laying right next to me. I've never had someone teach me what growing up is all about, so I had to go about this on my own. And so, I've been trying to deny it for so long, but I've come to my senses now. I have feelings for you, Sevati, and not just the way a friend feels about another. I have fallen in love with you, Sevati. I would do anything in the world for you, I don't like being away from you for too long, I like waking up each morning with you by my side."

He stopped to smile softly, "But most importantly, I feel like I am at home here and I can finally be happy with you." There, he had finally confessed his feelings to her and hopefully, she felt the same way. It would be a lie to say that his stomach wasn't doing flips on him.

If time could have stopped, it would have. The crashing of the waves, the gull of the seagulls, the breeze, everything was so loud to Sevati. She was frozen in place, so many emotions swirled in her confused green eyes as she stared at the male before her. The white lioness could feel her words form in her mouth, but none of them came out. Ravi loved her? Not the kind of love that friends share, but the kind of love that mates share. This was all so overwhelming to her, she didn't know what to do!

While Ravi was flattering her, she loved to hear it. It made her feel more special than she's ever felt before. But, did she love him the way he loved her? She was so confused that she didn't know what to think or feel. Struggling to find her voice, "R-ravi! I-I'm sorr..." She was so lost, that the only thing she knew she could do was run. Run away and figure out her feelings. She turned and fled the scene, with small tears rolling down her cheeks. Hopefully Ravi wasn't too crushed, but she didn't want to lead on his feelings anymore without being able to return them fully. Silently, she hoped that Ravi still loved her so that she could finally find happiness.

This was definitely not the reaction that Ravi had been hoping for. He had hoped that she would of at least knew her feelings, but she was so confused that he could smell it. Ears drooped slightly as he tried not to get his hopes up too high. Things just got a lot darker all of a sudden. As her fleeing form took over his view, he had the strongest urge to go after her, comfort her, but that would do no good at the moment. Sevati needed to know what her feelings were, and he would wait an eternity for her feelings if he had to.

Sighing softly, the male picked himself up and made his way towards the rocks. He'd sleep there tonight and give Sevi some room to think over her thoughts. Resting on the cold, hard surface, he gazed up at the sky wondering about his mother and how she was doing. His heart ached for his mother, but he was ashamed to admit that his heart ached more for Sevi than his own mother.
