If you're going through Hell,
Keep on going.
Interesting, interesting...she had never seen that before.

Burgundy eyes blinked skeptically down at the tiny creature in her hands. Tiny feathered wings beat momentarily - an attempt at flight, perhaps? - before their owner, a small dragon named Stolz, decided to try his new trick again. He flipped over. Tucking his wings, he ducked his head down and...rolled. Ooook then.

Vlasia. Vlasia Aspera. Eyes of burgundy, flowing black hair with a single ivory streak next to her face. Eldest daughter of the House of Thorns, an upper-class wizarding family. She acted it, too. With a proud, almost haughty, demeanor, she had earned few friends in her short life amongst the other students. Of course, she had only just been assigned her dragon. Time had not yet allowed her more social nature to emerge.

Perhaps...no. Not yet. She would reach out once she felt comfortable enough to do so.

Not that she was uncomfortable, just...ok, that was exactly it.

Ah, well. Nothing stopped others from approaching her, if they wished, as she sat on a stone bench in the fading light of evening, enjoying the company of a soft breeze and her new companion.

<---Ix XD;

Quite the opposite of the other's proud nature, Ix was a downright chaotic soul. The bright green hair should have been enough of a warning, the product of some experiment gone horribly wrong, yet appreciated in the end. Hands stuffed in his pockets, the odd wizard wandered along lost in his thoughts.

Hrm...if a single note could cause -that- kind of reaction....

Ix rubbed absently at a bandaged hand, the results of his latest test with sound and fully grown dragons. Apparently today's subject didn't appreciate his music, and had chomped into the wizard before he even had a chance to start the song. Thoughts wandering, Ix probably wouldn't have noticed or cared about Vlasia, but the newly hatched dragon quickly caught his gaze.

With a cool smirk Ix wandered closer for a better look. His own dragon, a watery fellow named Estuary, stay perched on his shoulder. The dragon gave a welcoming chirp sort of noise before Ix could announce himself.

"Hrmph...well hello there... New arrival huh?"

If you're going through Hell,
Keep on going.
Stolz, the little dragon in Vlasia's hands, whirled around and gave...well, it was kind of a gurgle. That was his hello, apparently.

Vlasia was mildly startled, but hid it fairly well. She lifted her head and eyes to look at the speaker, scrutinizing him quite openly. My my....green. Lots of it. And a dragon of blue. The girl wondered if he was as eccentric as he seemed. Hmph. Guess she would find out.

"If you mean the dragon," she began in a silky, confident voice. Normal for her. "..then yes. His name is Stolz. If you mean me, then the answer is still yes. I am Vlasia."

She offered a small smile, reminding herself not to judge on appearance....though, part of her already had.

Encouraged by the gurgle, Estuary continued to chirp at the freshly hatched dragon. Ix simply tuned it out as he addressed Vlasia.

"Well, welcome! Name's Ix, and no it isn't short for anything."

He grinned, a disarming sort of expression. Though, dropping your guard around Ix at anytime could be dangerous. Who knew when yet something else would blow up around him? Besides, all that twitching and fidgeting couldn't be normal...could it?

"Your dragon is quite lovely, mind if I play a son---"

The suggestion was quickly silenced by a swift n** from Estuary. Really now, his wizard should know better than to irritate a new dragon. Especially after that morning's incident.

If you're going through Hell,

Vlasia raised a slender brow. The dragons talking was cute, but his dragon nipping him was not. Play a.....what? Song? Sonnet? You couldn't really play a sonnet, she supposed. Whatever it was, the little dragon on his shoulder did not like it. Rather than disarmed by his expression, she was...subtly, carefully, intrigued.

"Thank you, and it is a pleasure to meet you....though I may regret asking it, what is it you wanted to play?"

She had a feeling he truly was as eccentric as she supposed. Oh dear. What was she getting herself into. This wizard was either the filthy-rich foolhardy type, or the insane dirt-poor type....she preferred the former. For more reasons than one.

You might get out before the Devil even knows you're there.

The n** had done nothing but distract him for a brief moment. In all honesty, he was quite used to such nips...or bites...or clawings...by now.

"Why, a song of course! I must confess it's my area of study. A bit odd, I know, but surely there's some hidden secret about sounds and how they affect a developing creature. I assure you, someday you'll be reading allllll about me and that big discovery....whatever it might be."

Now, most might have broken into laughter by now. Ix, however, was deadly serious. The smile never left his lips, but he certainly wasn't joking about his area of study.

User Image Scylla

Oscwen only watched from behind a tree, since observing was only necessary for collecting information. She noticed that Scylla was being a bit rowdy as usual, and was tugging at her to walk over to the two new Dragon owners. It was important to observe what kind of Dragons everyone had, so the data could be collected for future use.

It was hard to concentrate, since Scylla was as hopeful as usual. Her Dragon hadn't seen others of her kind yet, so Oscwen figured such was exciting for her. If only Oscwen had the same desire from her kind.. maybe she would be more interesting..

There was no use, and with a small sigh, the grey female walked over to the two owners. "Good da-" she was about to say, until Scylla flew up and grinned at the two Dragons, and was bouncing about in the air. Oscwen only put her hand on her face and shook her head, chuckling at her silly Dragon. "Now now, Syclla." she said, calmly. It was obvious that Syclla was only excited, but Oscwen was a bit embarrassed by such.

Vlasia looked skeptical. In the degrading, suspicious sort of way.

"I'm sure I will be. I think I'll wait until then to try it out for myself, hmmm?"

In other words, stay the hell away from my dragon.

She smiled despite her thoughts, though it faded once a newcomer shifted into their midst. Stolz seemed elated to have yet another dragon to gurgle at, trying once again to get himself off the ground. Too bad he was still just a hair too young to be flying yet. Ah, well. Vlasia regarded this person as she had Ix, looking her over before nodding in greeting. "Good day. And you are...?"

"Suit yourself, I always have a willing assistant in Estuary anyway."

Said dragon shook it's head, as if in disbelief as to why it still put up with Ix's various experiments. Oh well, his wizard was odd, but he was as loyal as any other dragon.

Speaking of dragons, the arrival of Scylla and her wizard peaked Estuary's interest. Head held high, the watery one gave a small flap of it's fins and eyed the newcomer. Once deeming the new one unthreatening to the already gathered group, Estuary gave his usual welcoming chirp.

With the same smile, Ix allowed his gaze to slide to Oscwen. Vlasia had already intiated a welcome, so he'd be content to just listen. ...For at least a few moments.

Oscwen turned to the female and grinned, but only a small bit. "My name is Oscwen Steel, and this is Syclla." With a light bow, she lowered her head and smiled at the two others. She then let her eyes drift to the two Dragons they had, and tried hard to collect bits and pieces for data purposes.

Syclla on the other hand was continuing to gleam in excitement, and stared at the other two with bright eyes. Her tail wagged back and forth, and was running into Oscwen's legs every so often.

"She is quite excited, she hasn't met any other Dragons yet." Oscwen bent over and gave Syclla a pat on the head. Then, remembering she was in the presence of two other Wizards, she collected herself and decided to remain more formal, and ask questions. "I hope I wasn't interrupting anything, we just came to observe...What are both of your names?"

Vlasia's attention had not averted from Oscwen, despite the actions of Estuary...which might make her laugh, had she been paying attention. First impressions were important, though. So she was sure to pay attention to this girl's version of it.

"Well met, Oscwen and Syclla." she said softly, nodding her head. Burgundy eyes rested on the dragon for a moment, before she spoke again, moving Stolz to sit on her shoulder. "I am Vlasia. Vlasia Aspera. And this is my dragon, Stolz."

Of course, Oscwen had been speaking to both her and Ix...but Ix had not yet spoken. So, she decided to go first.

Once Vlasia had given her name, the green haired one moved to do the same.

"This little fellow here is Estuary, and my name is Ix. And before you ask, yes that is my real name, no it isn't short for anything."

With a calm smirk, Ix reached a hand up to stroke at Estuary's chin. The motion seemed to calm the blue dragon, and left Ix plenty of time to study both Oscwen and her dragon.

Oscwen blinked for a moment, since asking if Ix was a nickname wouldn't have crossed her mind! "Well, it is nice to meet both of you." She still was a bit awkward in her social skills, she she moved her feet and looked at the both of them with bright eyes. She really didn't talk to others often, so she was nervous about what they would think of her.

Lucky for her, Syclla was being the distraction she needed to keep everyone entertained. She wiggled her body to sniff the other dragons, and made a soft purr in enjoyment, while quickly moving back to where Oscwen was standing. Once content with the situation, Syclla calmly returned to eying everybody in a happy state, while making small noises here and there.

Oscwen then looked over to Ix, who apparently had an instrument of his own! "Wow, do you know how to play an instrument?" Oscwen found music as a science in itself, and she stared for a moment in awe.

Vlasia enjoyed the silence. Solitude she disliked, but silence gave one room to think. Sometimes, though, it could be uncomfortable. For others at least. She never found it uncomfortable, instead using it to decide how the next conversation was to go. Honestly, she liked that bit of an upper hand.

She observed Oscwen for a moment more, shifting her eyes to Ix once or twice, before the fellow female's question floated on the air. Ah, yes, the instrument. Ix's livelihood, it seemed. Vlasia was wary of it due to the eccentricities of the owner. Of course, that was judging, and judging was wrong....incorrect? Rarely. Morally, though...wrong. Damn morals. Sighing quietly, the Aspera daughter decided to join in on whatever hell the girl may have unleashed, casting a mildly interested look with her burgundy eyes.

"Where are you from, Ix? The craftsmanship of that instrument does not look like the kind found around here....and what about you, Oscwen? Where are you from?"

You might get out before the Devil even knows you're there.

For the first time since his arrival, Ix's gaze seemed to darken. The calm smirk that had been present the whole time finally faltered.

"Where I'm from is of no importance...it's in the past, and as forgotten as the time from whence I came."

That settled, Ix returned to his usual cheery self.

"Ah but yes, I do play the instrument!"

The green haired one focused fully on Oscwen, his smile bright. Talking about his instrument and his line of work was always a pleasure.

"You see Oscwen, I was telling Vlasia here that my line of work involves music and other sorts of sounds, and their effects on developing dragons. It sounds odd, yes, but I'm certain there's some sort of discovery to be found somewhere in the field! Of course going off the beaten path does have it's downsides. It's hardly likely I'll ever find someone studying the same thing....then again I kind of like that."

Ix looked thoughtful....which was never a good thing. It often led to explosions and failed experiments.
