It had been months and yet Patches was still searching. Prehaps it was the small flame of hope he still had burning- or maybe he wanted to wash away the shame he felt for losing one so young. At any rate he was determined to find Alina or colapse on his paws with his last breath trying.
Last he had saw the pup she had been swept away in a river by his own stupidity. He shouldn't have brought her there. He shouldn't have had her follow him. He knew the humans were after him. Stupid stupid stupid. He shook his head with what little strength he did have left. At least if he had just left her after he had taken down the deer she might have made it alive to someplace safe.
He sighed recanting on a memory of her calling him 'grandfather' what a fond memory that was. It was like he had a purpose- now alls he had was guilt. Although there was something strange about this territory he had entered. A fimilar smell- ah it was probally his mind playing tricks on him. She would have never survived the rapids. But then again...he quirked his brow strangely. His nose had never failed him.

((I'm going to set this after Alina joins the pack, but before Deimos heads off to the North in search of Ehrek))
Deimos twitched in his sleep, his nap disturbed by visions of his sister, her fangs bared and dripping saliva. Alex was beside him, but they were both wounded, bleeding out onto the hard ground. Moirai was surrounded by her followers, wolves that she had brain-washed.
As they all lunged for him and his fellow alpha, the picture changed. He felt like he was falling, darkness closing in on him, and then, just as suddenly, he was in the midst of a war, wolves all around him. Most were fighting, some were dying . . .
He heard the pain-filled snarls of his packmates, and wolves he didn't know, yet somehow did. And then there were teeth at his throat, the distraction of the scene around him proving to be his downfall.
Hot blood spilled from his throat, staining the ground crimson. A different type of darkness was closing in, dragging him away from the world of the living . . .
One word spilled from his lips as he died.
"A . . . lex--"
--before all was darkness.

The elder stepped forth his nose continued to dance threw the air. No it couldn't be...it just couldn't be- she's dead. He was about to lower his nose and colapse to the ground from exsaustion when more sents seamed to infiltrate his nose. A pack prehaps? It still wasn't Alina so he just didn't care. He wanted to find her, he needed to find her. He just didn't seam complete without his little charge.
He shook his long matted fur. Why couldn't he just give up? Why was he so honor bound? Was this his dog side or the wolf within him. Maybe it was just the fact that nobody ever accepted him like she had. He just didn't know anymore. It was just to confusing. He wanted to press forth but his legs were weak and weary, and the mud that was caking threw his fur didn't make it any easier to walk. It was quite apparent that he hadn't stopped moving since he had lost his dear friend months ago.
His body was dying from the need to eat; and his skin clinging to his ribs made him a scary sight to behold. He blinked a few times trying to wash away death that danced around him and tried to push forth. But even with the fire still burning within him his old body had finally caught up with him. And without him even knowing his creaky old bones gaveway from underneath him and caused him to collaspe in a tired heep.

Jolting awake, his paws scrabbled frantically at the hard dirt as he leapt to his feet, hackles raised and a snarl bubbling from his jaws. His wide, wild eyes darted around, looking for the enemies that had plagued his dreams. He saw nothing, but, he didn't relax, because an unfamiliar scent was on the air.
A wolf he didn't know was in his lands, not too far.
Normally, he would go and greet the wolf, welcome him even if Einsame could be his home, but his mind was wild with the images of blood and death his dreams had brought to seeming life.
Snarling, he was off like a shot, dead-running it towards the unfamiliar smell.

The elderly wolf-dog just lay there as the thoughts of his own nearing death seamed to dance threw his mind. Pushing again he just couldn't get his crumpled body up from under him. Again he tried with another shove, then CRACK and a large shooting pain seamed to jolt from his right front leg. No matter he still had to get up- still had to fight with the life that was in him...still had to find Alina....
"Alllliiiinnnaaaa...."
His elderly mouth seamed to breath out as he fought agaist the pain and the blood that was pouring out of his front shin. Must find her! Must not give up! Your not dead yet old man! Fight the pain! Even if it was only her lifeless body at least it would sufice him to stop journing.
His chest gave a heave from under him as it was obvious that his body was struggling to draw in air. So much in pain he was and so settled in mind about Alina he didn't even know the other was drawing near. Again he made a kick from under him, and with a surpising amount of luck and pain ended up on his unstable paws once again. It would only be a matter before his lack of energy caught up with him and would send him tetering back to the ground. But until then his tired mind would keep calling out his grandaughters name.
"Alllliinnnnnnaaaaa....."

Just as he caught sight of Patches' unmoving body, his sense returned to him. His snarling ceased, and his mad run of rage turned into a lope of worry as he approached the nearly prone wolf. He vaguely remembered the old wolf yelling a name, but couldn't pick it out of the feeling of bloodlust that had clouded him.
Stopping by the old male, he crept closer, sniffing the other wolf for any sign of sickness that might have caused the other's collapse. Sensing only distress, and age, Deimos whined softly. His eyes moved towards the broken front leg, and he wondered how he could help the old wolf.
First, to see if he was conscious.
"Old one . . . ?"

Patches honestly couldn't see the other approching threw his old eyes and the pain that seamed to be surging threw his body. He was on his feet for a few seconds before he seamed to be tumbling back down to the ground. He only lay there for a few seconds before his grandaughters sent wafted threw his nose again. Apparently Deimos was carrying her sent pretty strongly.
His nose gave a wimper and a wuffle as he thought he was halusionating. She was dead- very dead. She could have never survived that water fall...unless...this wolf had killed her- or prehaps eatten from her body? His eyes seamed to glow with a flash of rage as his mind had no logic to it at all. Must seek revenge for her death, for her MURDER... He dashed onto his bloody paws once more as he seamed to have regained some urge to fight.
"You smell of my grandaughter...did you kill her?"
He gave another lurch forward as if he ment to attack then seamed to topple down in the sadness of his delusions. He was going to die even before he had the chance to avenge his grandaughters death.

"Granddaughter?" Perplexed, he jumped back easily as the old one lunged and toppled again. Then everything seemed to click into place, and Deimos' jaw dropped.
"Patches?"
Rushing forward, he put a gentle paw on the old wolf's shoulder to keep him down, otherwise he would simply keep hurting himself. "Patches, is it you? Are you Alina's grandfather?"
Alina would be so happy to know that her beloved grandfather was alive . . .

He kept fighting for a few seconds more, as his body couldn't seam to understand why his brain had stopped struggling. Alina? She was alive?! His eyes seamed to light up with a new found joy as the other spoke of her name. His tail seamed to thump plesently in responce as if it was his way of saying sorry for attacking you. His mind still couldn't comprehend though how this other knew his grandaughter though.
"Alina.....is....Alive?"
He seamed to spatter out in small spurts between the blood. Again just the thought that he could see her again; known she had survived...just...just... his eyes then suddenly exploded into a massive amount of tears. It was as if the river that had carried him away had finally broken free. Again he seamed to weep more tears. If another wolf was watching he'd look quite pathetic, but he was just so- overjoyed.
"Where....Alina?"
Patches breathed out in a smaller sentence using up more of his energy. His eyes were longing to see her- she would probally be beautiful and very grown up. Would she still remeber him? Or even accept him in this condition? She had almost died because of him. It was only a miracle that she was actully alive...or was this just another one of his deliusions? Had he searched so much that he had created this wolf in his head? Oh please let this not be a dream! He seamed to beg and plead with himself as his body was slowly putting him to sleep. Must see grandaughter- But before he could finish his own internal dialoge he had passed out into a peaceful sleep.

Grimacing, Deimos watched the old wolf collapse into unconsciousness. He didn't know what to do; he wasn't a healer, and that's exactly what Patches needed.
Not knowing what else to do, and unwilling to leave the injured wolf alone to go find Alina, he lay down beside the old male to keep him warm.
(I'm just going to leave it at that, since you and brown already started another rp. Sorry it took me so long; college has been slowly killing me. o_x But I'm going to try and organize my time better, so that I'll have to time rp again, and maybe actually sleep)
