Wow... I'm suprised no one mention flexibility. You HAVE to get your splits, then it would be easier. I strongly reccomend doing over splits once your comfortable. ONCE YOU TOUCH THE FLOOR COMPLTETELY DO OVER SPLITS. After that, it's just a matter of momentum. PLIE is your friend. Also, watch other dancers leap into the air, you see how 'veterans' can suspend the leap in the air. Try getting that kind of feeling, then you'll have awesome leaps.

No one has mentions visulizing - - very important, as the others have said get a good plie but also in the leap imagine you are on a flying carpet sailing through the air it takes the leaps alot further.

Stretch your splits. VERY IMPORTANT! then just plie and use your momentum to get yourself up in the air. Everything that has already been said.

Guys! Stretching your splits is only important for split leaps... but there lots of other types of leaps that need to go high in the air...tour chasé for example... Tips? Learn to use your pliés to get maximum push from your legs. Use your arms , depending on how you're asked to use them, to pull you up... and feel like you're going to fly, or better yet, feel like a matrix leap...

well, I would say everything they just said...but they just said it so...
I'll add this!:
Strengthen your legs A LOT. like, all of the ones in your thighs mostly so once you plie and start the jump, you can push your legs farther into the air with just your muscles, that way you aren't just depending on your momentum. When it comes to things like switch leaps, momentum won't get you far enough because you use all muscle to do the second half of the leap.
A good way to see how far you can go on strength alone is to grab to chairs, lift your body with your arms, and sort of do a split hanging there and see how far apart you can lift your legs. That made the biggest difference for me anyway because I could tell exactly where my leaps really were. If you want long leaps you'll need your own muscles to keep your splits good up there.
also, your plie will get better if you strengthen your thigh muscles too, so your leaps will be higher, longer lasting, and your legs will be more split-like while your in the air!!

In addition to everything that has already been said, get your hips up. No matter what the jump is, if you don't get your hips up, you can't reach your maximum height.
Use a high grande battement with the front leg and make sure your hips push up to follow the front leg. The battement must be high to get into the air.

Really use the floor. You have to plie. Don't heel-toe it, you won't get momentum. Make sure you're turned out and pointed because otherwise, there is a high chance of your back leg like flicking and that's not good. Roll through your feet so you don't just land. Rolling through your feet allows you to get more power, jump higher and land softer.
