....on having a normal, intelligent conversation on Gaia outside of guilds? I swear, every time I venture outside of my normal guilds and threads, I'm attacked by stupidity at every turn. And, no, I don't go to the GD. I think I'll give some examples...
In one hour, I found about 5 threads in the Exchange that were either spam or people begging. Which led to tons of people flaming said people for that hour until a moderator finally moved it. (This was about a week ago.)
Just a while ago, I went into the Videogame Discussion, to find an original (for a change) thread. While the poster had poor grammar, I overall agreed with him, and responded with some more information to back up his opinion and my own. And I got semi-flamed by that poster, for "going off subject".
Even in my regular threads, stupidity can run rampant. Lately there has been a spammer that has been reported three times for her actions, and yet she still returns. xp It's quite annoying, and it makes the service (a bumping service) look very bad.
So, what do you guys think? Is there any respite on Gaia outside of guilds where you won't be attacked with idiots 24/7?

1. stuff i know i'm welcome in eg givewawys thats ive been at for a while
2. stuff where begging, poor grammer and flamming isnt allowed and the regulars defend the thread

I crave intellectual conversation more than anything else – but it’s so hard to find on Gaia. Luckily, there are a lot of nice people in here who can type more than two words.
I try and stick mainly to guilds and threads by people I know. Or I stalk the 18+ or literate threads. =3

Morons can't be avoided on the internet. So I do much the same as other people who seek out intellectual conversation. Either try and start one myself and ignore anything idiotic. Or find threads that are suited to me so I can post without ultimately getting enraged at the amount of crap people think they can get away with! Even the ED is starting to look like the GD. I think new users should be told to post in the right forums on their New user quest and given some quick rules on how to avoid being flamed. It will make things better for us people who don't want to see about 50 posts on Chuck Norris/ Gene Wilder. It's only funny the first time round *le sigh*

STUPIDITY I'm sad to say is everywhere and I guess will always
be..but since we can't make those kind of people smarter the
best thing to do is to avoid these kind of people and look for
intellectual conversation -as well as persons-....xDD
