This looks like fun, it looks like fun, could it be I finally got my wish? The song played through Kians head as he busied himself in the home. Could it be considered 'busied' when he was just looking over the masses of things that had to be put in the proper order around and on the room? He didn't know what to do.

How was he supposed to know what would look good in what rooms? As Iamel and his Parental liked to point out, he had no taste when it came to decorating. The terrarium he had for his snake was perhaps the one thing that was decorated in his room. Vines, bowls, hides, all of that sort. Forest imagery. He failed at drawing but at least he managed to find something that looked REMOTELY like it.

The little...fluffy thing had to know. He had seen her, and a large odd-looking man, briefly when he had entered. Kian had promptly avoided him, for reasons he wasn't quite sure. The small thing felt. Weird. But what was there to do now? Two hands rose up, rubbing gently at his face before Kian straightened his back to head off and find the small fluffity thing he had avoided at first.

"Hello?" His voice carried, slightly, through the halls, eyebrows furrowing up. "I do not know how to decorate."

((Lame. @__@ Yes. I wasn't sure how to pull it off without him already going ape-s**t and thought.. well,if he felt a strange emotion around her, even a little, he'd avoid her. And Lissel, being nice, would let him. So he was trying to figure out what to DO with all the stuff in a still-undecorated living room (as they are setting up) and...to go hunting for the small fluffy thing that feels weird))

The fluffy thing in question, called Lissel by her guardian, and Kitten by almost everyone else, was in the kitchen with Ques. She had her small hands wrapped around a delicate porcelain cup of tea, to which she was adding far too much sugar. She knew it was far too much sugar, and so did Ques, he was giving her a look that meant 'that is far too much sugar'. And though she and Ques had only met that week, she could read him neatly. Could read anyone, really. Didn't mean to.

At the sound of Kian's voice, her ears twitched, and after a seconds hesitation, she jumped from the chair that was too high for her onto the ground, standing on tip toe to get her tea off the table.

"Oh my, the boy." She murred the words softly to the serene monk, who had not even glanced toward the call. "He doesn't like me, not really, but you see I can't really ignore him, can I. And he's so very nice, he really is. Oh my."

It was a burden sometimes, always knowing how people felt. So she knew she made him uncomfortable. Knew it and had delicately done her best not to cross the poor sweets path. He was a darling really. She didn't want to make him miserable.

But he was calling. Teacup cupped delicately in her small hands, she crossed the threshold into the kitchen, and tried to give him her sweetest, most winning smile. Maybe he would warm to her, given a chance.

"Hello, dear. You called?" Her voice had a definite feline undertone, purred out from a throat made for purring. The cup was almost oversized in her hands. She stood, innocent, guileless, projecting affection and genuine love for all species, the boy included. She couldn't help it. It was the way she was made.

Kian twisted around at the sound of her voice to see the small little bundle of fluffy cuteness. It was almost painful at how adorable he KNEW she was and yet she still set something in him at odds. Oh my indeed. It didn't matter if what Autsu had said was true - she was comfortable and gentle.

There were those feelings he felt briefly when he had spoken to her, the weird stirrings that made Kian now a bit wary of getting too close or talking too much.

"I do not know how to decorate." He spoke finally, having had cleared his throat briefly. His lips twitched in a brave fight to keep himself from frowning; it wasn't Lissels fault. She didn't deserve a scowl. The feeling wrapped around his stomach was making him irritable and calm all at once, making him both want to punt her through the window to make it STOP because he KNEW it had something to do with her and want to stroke her and question these emotions and give her MORE tea because it was a familiar feeling and he wanted to know more.

Augh. Damnit.

"Parental says it is a thing I fail at. Yes. I am supposed to set up but.." His tail twitched, body partially twisting so he could gesture to the living room, "The only one who finds my decorating comforting is 'Tsu and I think there will be more like you-" Oh, the gods please help him if they were. "-And less like I, who would decorate with.... Nothing."

Warm fuzzies. That's what it was. A warm fuzzy thing twisting around his innards and he didn't know WHY. Or what it was. Or why he wanted to wriggle and laugh or pull her over for a snuggle.

What the hell was a snuggle?

Kians voice broke at the next sentence, amidst the words. "I think I am going insane." It could go for either the decorating or his own uneasiness but he hoped she took it as a decorating comment.

Lissel did not speak until Kian had finished. She stood, and sipped politely at her tea, and her tail lashed idly across the floor. At one point, she reached up to carefully readjust the bow over her right ear. Her gaze was not steady, as Autsu's might have been, instead her eyes moved from haphazard pile to haphazard pile. Work to be done.

But the boy first. Poor boy. What on earth had she done to frighten him off? Was it the fur? The white? Was he afraid she'd shed on him? As a reader of feelings, not thoughts, she was left with a lot of guess work. And that meant not knowing exactly what to say, when he finally announced his impending insanity.

Stepping forward, she stroked the couch lightly, looking at him out of the corner of her eye. What to say, what to do. She just wanted to hug him and tell him he'd be all right. There was a lot of old pain. They all had old pain.

"Of course honey, I'll point and you can push, right?" A small smile. She certainly wouldn't be moving the couch herself.

But come, she would take the bull by the horns. Nervous determination touched the air, mingling with the love she still projected. "But please, dear, would you prefer Ques? Have I upset you?"

Kian froze. He had been about to nod and agree with the point-and-push policy as he was good for muscle but bad for decoration when she asked those last questions. Upset him?

No. No, she hadn't upset him. But there was something about HER that had put him on edge, made him feel rather uncomfortable. There was an emotion reverberating off of her that made the insides of the reptiliane boy writhe briefly inside of his frame.

So he hesitated and his large hand moved to tug at one of the longer braids trailing down his back.

"Not you. Not as a person, that is." He admitted finally, glancing over at the giant pile of stuff that they had at their disposal to decorate with. "You are fine. Very fluffy. Tsu was correct when he spoke of you as gentle." There was a place for gentle, he remembered pointing out to his friend. Autsu had not mentioned the female vibrated with something inhuman.

"Simply..." Kian hesitated. There was nothing simple about this. "You give off a feel. Ah.. You. There are vibrations around you that are odd. I have not felt them before and it makes me feel odd inside. It puts me off ease. It is not you."

"Oh. Oops." Lissel put one tiny paw to her mouth, covering it in mild dismay. So it was her empathy that was so unsettling him? But, she couldn't protect the sweet boy from that, not really. A last gift from her gentle ones, and she had no way to turn it off. She could feel his discomfort, and his unhappiness at having been called out about it. But there was little she could do.

The feelings that radiated from her shifted, though love still radiated, it mingled with guilt now, and soft sadness.

"I... I didn't mean too. But, you see, I can't help it. It's empathy. You feel what I feel." A small frown, as she considered. "But I like you, dear. You're a lovely boy. You needn't be unhappy with that."

"What is it that you were feeling?" His words were abrupt at that, all movement pausing on the large alien. "It was one thing I do not recognize. But there is guilt now, and you are sad. The other one is still there. What is that one?"

He knew all the 'negative' emotions. Regret his father had taught him about. Affection was his siblings. Desire... Iamel was attempting to describe that to him. Kian knew what that was like. Maybe. But the one she had, the one before that regret and that sadness, he had never experianced before.

Well. No. No, he had experianced that before. A great deal of it. But it had no name. He never bothered to think about it. Prehaps it was an alien thing? But Kian did not ever think that way when he was in his old body... He didn't even feel that in his old body.

Then there was Parental. Stupid Parental, that soft feeling as there. Frustration, anger, irritation and that soft feeling. Much the same with his SIblings, old and young. Affection was there as well. Autsu brought on frustration, affection. A litle of that feeling. Not enough for him to dwell on it - not then and not now.

"I am not unhappy."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 07, 2007 10:11 pm

"Oh, honey." Soft voice, soft sympathy and that 'soft emotion' so strong that it could probably drown the both of them. Lissel crossed the room in light, almost bouncing motions and touched Kian's arms gently. Perhaps she would have touched his cheek, were it not so difficult for her to reach. "You didn't have it easy where you came from did you? Not if you didn't know love."

"That's why this place is so important." This last bit said almost as an aside, murmured with quiet thoughtfulness.

Soft fur and tiny hands as the white cat stroked the black reptilian boy's arm lightly. The contrast of the two of them was almost funny.

"It's love, dear. Not romance, no worries. Just love. You're a sweet boy, and I'm glad to know you, you see?" She tilted her head slightly to the side, "Haven't you ever loved someone?"

Kian flinched minutely as those strong, soft emotions rushed over him like a truck. Sure, she wasn't trying to be overpowering but it was all..nothing he was used to. Then there was touching. THe third eye went a little wide and if he could blush, Kian probably would have.

Lissel was cute, in the way small and adorable, defenseless things were. It wasn't a sexual attraction but still. A strange female touching him brought blood rushing to the face.

"We were not taught love." He finally agreed, his voice rather slow. "Why would I worry if you wanted to mate with me? You are attractive. It would not be an insult to me." With that, the alien reached over and, rather akwardly, gave Lissels head a little pat. He was overly cautious.. Kian didn't want to hurt her.

Loved someone?

Kian was quiet then too, looking away as he...pondered that. "I... some for my Parental?" He offered, shrugging, "More, for the siblings. Except prehaps Rothe. He is a bit of a d**k. Prehaps 'Tsu. But that is different. That is not soft. I think?" Maybe she would? But emotions weren't something you could conjure at will, were they? "We are friends."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 07, 2007 10:45 pm

Lissel was quiet for a moment, listening to Kian's words and matching them to the emotions she was picking up off the boy. Sympathy filled her, and she felt a lump in her throat as she mourned for the poor once Kian, the one who had not been taught to love. She could cry for others, even those who did not think to cry for themselves.

"Sit, honey. The room can wait." She crawled up onto the couch, straightening her skirt with careful fingertips. One tiny paw reached out to pat the seat next to her, and she looked up at Kian expectantly.

"Maybe if we talk for awhile, you'll get used to me? It'll be good for you. We all... we all need love." Again, there was sadness there, whether for the world or for her personal tragedies, it didn't matter. "To accept it, and give it."

Oh wisdom, oh tiny fury psychoanalyst, oh gossipy 50s housewife. Regardless of how one wanted to see her, it was clear enough that she was trying to help.

Kian simply stared down at the couch and then once at the kitten. Then, once more, he looked at the couch and there was a sigh on his lips. It was a sound of resignation... Who could deny something so small and cute? She was like an adult Akuti.

So, he sat, a bit away from the back so his tail would be comfortably, the thick muscle twisting to almost touch the ground, creating a wide arc on the cushion on the opposite side of him.

"My eldest sibling has been..trying to teach me?" He was attempting to soothe that sadness. Granted, Kian rather sucked at it, giving the little furry thing another akward pat on the head as he pondered Iamel. "He has been trying, anyway. With books on mating and books with half-naked females on the cover. But that is mostly about mating, as well. And fireworks although I do not know where fireworks come into play unless humans prefer to burn their genitalia while mating."

Kian went quiet again, giving Lissel a sideways look with his third eye. "I do not know how to give love. It is considered a luxury, here. I am.." A pause and his fingers spread, a sign of surrender, and once more Kian shook his head. "I am in charge, here. Autsu acts in such a manner, anyway. He has too much anger to try and solve others... He has to find out how to try and solve himself, first."

Now, he was mostly talking to himself. There was a frown on his lips as he contemplated his friend; with Autsu, there was affection. A deep affection brought on by spending most of their lives as comrades and later as friends. By arguing and planning and getting older near one another. Friendship. There had been a kiss - the memory of that flared something else too but it was brushed off carelessly.

"Parental makes me angry more then anything. But with you, I think one must accept love. You are like a radiator of it. A soft kind."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 9:00 pm

There was a certain awkward charm to Kian that only increased Lissel's affection toward him. It was like that with most people actually, the more she talked to them, the more she became fascinated by their individual workings. She adored uniqueness. Maybe she just adored.

So the hesitant pat was greeted with a nudge against that same hand, and she leaned against the young man as he spoke, her 'soft radiation' like an unheard purr. This was a very content kitty, listening in silent respect to the words of someone she cared about.

Three minutes in, and she wanted to buy friendship rings.

"Your brother seems confused himself." She murmured in soft comment when he fell silent. "There's more to love than romance and sex."

Her tail curled into her lap, and she petted it absently, running her fingers through her fur.

"But it's still good, if you want it. Do you want romance? You don't have to be good at it first, really. Love either." She smiled up at him, a gentle expression. "You just have to try. If you want to."

"You shouldn't do anything you don't want to."

But there had been something she'd read on the air, just a flash of it. What it was, well, that was for him to decide.

"How can I want what I have never experianced?" The younger alien pointed out but... his fingers kept moving. Soft slow scritches against her ears and the like as opposed to a careless pet. His younger, part feline siblings enjoyed that part a great deal. It made sense, to him, that she would enjoy the same.

"There is only one I would trust to that extent, with me. Aknowledging you care for someone in that manner means they can hurt you. I do not wish to be hurt. In that instance... I am rather certian I would be." More pets. More silent contemplation.

Finally, Kian shook his head. "It is better to aknowledge it's existance then to attempt and try to master something so elusive. Companions would be good... But romance? Nnm. I was sent here to be punished... but to purposely put myself in the line of pain is something not even I would do."
PostPosted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 9:50 pm

"Oh honey, lets not talk about punishment." She was reproachful now, lower lip pouting out. She allowed herself a sigh, and looked around the room they had yet to decorate with what might be sadness. Guilt or no, for any of them, she wanted this to be about growth, not penance. "Its such a nasty idea."

She curled closer against him; her feet did not touch the floor. She needed people. It was nice of him, to allow her close. It was very lonely, sometimes. Her dear ones...

A wash of pain, and she made no attempt to hide that from him. She couldn't, even if she had wanted to.

"Dear, if you say love is pain, you know it well enough."

Sometimes this life was so much harder than dying for them had been. That hadn't hurt, not this way.

Pain and love, and if he wanted to know what it felt to feel that way, he could taste it on the air now. Not bitter-sweet, there was no bitterness in her. Just a hopeless sort of regret.

She wished she could have given more.

"But pain... well... you know that already."

At that wash of sadness, Kian heaved a sigh and he did what he would do if any of his siblings in a simaler situation. His arms moved out to scoop the small thing up from the couch and he deposited her onto his lap. "Do not be sad. That was not my intention. I am sorry."

He tried to be soothing. Honest, he did. Fingers moved to pet at her still, lips working into a quiet frown. He was quiet for a moment, a long moment and finally... The alien just tilted his head back.

"I would be hurt." His words, when they finally came, were quiet and resigned. "I do not know the terminology but I know what would happen if I acted. Or spoke of it. One must fix themselves. I can't fix them. So rather, it is best to just ignore it. It is not for me and any desire I may have is... out of place. A misplacing of feelings."

Again, she got a quiet pat on the head. "Do not feel that hopeless feeling. We all did what we could, back in our own worlds. Do not know of your situation but... You do not seem to the type to do actual wrong."
