The Life Issues forum seriously needs some pro-choice folks in there.
I'll tell you why.
Go into any thread in which the person's issue is that they're pregnant, or that they're afraid they might be pregnant.
You'll likely see many posts like this:
"Well, b***h, you're ********, because you literally got ********. LOL."
"Don't get an abortion! It's murder, and you'll [get breast cancer/die/be miserable for the rest of your life/feel guilty for the rest of your life/be a horrible person/damage your reproductive organs/etc.]!"
I know that Life Issues is, in general, a dump. However, I feel very bad. A lot of the females with this problem who post there are obviously lost and do not have the slightest idea of where to turn. A lot of them have been horribly misinformed, and have been told things such as "condoms don't work" or "if he pulls out before he has an orgasm, it'll be okay".
I feel even worse for the girls who post that they're raped and may be pregnant. As if having been raped isn't horrible enough, the thread gets flooded with guilt trips if they say they are considering abortion. "Don't do it! It's not the baby's fault!".

I poked my head into LI a long time ago, and decided to never go there again. I don't have the patience. Point them in the direction of Nikolita's guild, or here. I think if they had somewhere to go where they could get some basic information for either option, they'd feel better than they would being hounded by those morons.

I generally PM the girls info about bias-free workbooks to help them cope and also tell them it's no one else's business what they choose to do and ultimately it's their money.
Life issues is full of 10 year olds making 10 year old comments about things they don't understand.

isnt that most of gaia? it makes me worried for the poor kids that dont really have anyone else to talk to. I used to hang around LI just so I could give some good info to kids... but was called a baby killer etc... one too many times and left.

I would tell them to look for answers in a place where people actually want to give them good advice. It never seizes to amaze me how poorly certain people treat a woman once she's pregnant. They turn her into a walking baby-factory and treat her like s**t.

I try to be active in that forum, mostly for that reason. If a girl says she's pregnant and she doesn't know what to do, I refer her to Planned Parenthood and I give her as much information as I can. I try to tell off the jerks who use the forum to push their pro-life agendas, I tell them to stop pushing their morals on other people because it's not helping anyone, it just turns the thread into an abortion debate when all the girl wanted was help. I then tell the girl not to listen to these people, and to do what she wants. I usually also throw in what information I can about abortion.

yeah, i've stuck around a couple threads like that in LI. gd abortion debate threads are bad enough, but the life issues ones are way worse. hardly any of the people in that goddamn forum know what the hell they're talking about when it comes to abortion. they're never willing to learn anything, either. neutral

The same reason the majority of pro-lifers never go to the ED thread. They think we "don't listen to them", and get offended when we prove their emotional pleas, misuse of terms, and sob stories to be bullshit. And yes, I have seen comments like that, and much worse like "You spread your legs then, so you'll spread your legs again and push a baby through there. It's not so bad. You're a whore, so you're used to spreading your legs.".

I practically live in life issues. Quite a few people do give practical advice. But a pregnant teen seems to be the bait of pro-lifers.
They like to guilt trip others. I generally say to pro-lifers "You say all these children are wanted. But their not. If that was true the adoption system wouldn't have so many kids in it."
What makes me laugh is how many pro-lifers do you know that actually adopt? Hardly any.
