It was early and the sky was a smudged grey-blue in the twilight of dawn. The moon was a white round scar high up in the sky, the sun starting to burn the horizon with gold. Below the lands were ghostly, highlighted here and there but mostly dark. When the sun rose, the colours would return and it'd seem lush and alive again. But this ethereal-effect on this misty morn was enchanting and a bit chilling to a certain reddish cub.
Tufah was halfway up Priderock and had stopped to study the sky on the prominant outcropping at the front of it. The place the kings and queens traditionally sat to survay their lands, she mused. And behind her, the best cave in the place. Half the pride lived in caves and dens somewhere on or around Priderock, but the one behind her was the room with the best view.

Sekizen had woken long before the sun had thought of rising to get from his more remote den to Pride Rock. From what he'd heard, the view from there of the morning sun was positively amazing, and the juve wanted to see it with his own eyes. He was almost there- the rock had turned from the little bump on the horizon to the mammoth rock that it truly was. If he wanted to see the top, he'd need to sit, or lie on his back so he wouldn't fall over.
Sekizen slowed up the closer he got to the large figure. He didn't want to intrude on anyone's personal home, and wasn't entirely sure he should even be there. He paused and checked around him whether anyone was already disturbed by his presence, but seeing nobody, he decided it was safe to continue climbing the large rock.

Still! As the sun climbed a bit higher in the sky, so would she climb this rock. Tufah turned to take the paths to the higher reaches of Priderock after a while knowing the view would be even more stunning from the very top of the natural stone citadel. It'd be on one such path she'd likely meet Sekizen shortly.
For now she was content to stop every few feet, take in some distant feature before padding forward once more. She'd never remember all this! But she'd damn well try, she loved these lands so very much. Her home.

He saw that he should've gotten up even earlier this morning as Sekizen quickened his pace up the trail. "Higher, I've got to get higher," He muttered to himself as his strides got longer. It wasn't until he faced the east that Sekizen decided he'd gotten a good spot and sat down. There was nobody around that he could see, but nonetheless, he watched as a large golden sliver made it's way above the horizon, ever slowly. All of the trees cast their gorgeously tall shadows, something Sekizen truly enjoyed watching was both how the sliver grew and how the shadows of all that existed grew with it.

Not too far now, almost there-! Tufah knew that after two or three more twists, she'd be at the very top of Priderock. Supposedly there was a flat platform and thee she'd rest take in more of this beautiful land under the sun. She bounded around a corner, blinking as she can into the light from the east, and then had to stop.
There was a cub, no, a bit older than a cub, male no doubt, strange white and black markings that made her oddly think of a zebra...anyway! There was a lion blocking the trail. It was thin at the point.
"Good morning."

Sekizen had been completely absorbed in watching the sunrise that he hadn't heard the cub coming until she said something. Sekizen jumped up the trail butt-first, swivelling to face this unknown creature. However, he'd not taken into account the spiralling path, and he lost his footing, causing his back left leg to fall off the edge of the path. The sudden loss of support caused him to fall onto his belly, he bit his tongue, and splayed his front legs crazily to grab hold of anything. Though he wasn't going to fall, the cub combined with the sudden disappearance of the path had startled Sekizen to the point of embarassment. He pulled himself forward as much as he could, then replaced his left back leg onto the path and stood himself up again. Under the fur, Sekizen could feel himself start to blush, and somehow he gave a sheepish grin about the insane event that the female had just witnessed.
"Good morning," he said, resuming the embarassed grin which slowly faded behind his personal walls. "We'll talk more at the peak, then, hang on." He knew that the path was too skinny to fit the two of them side-by-side, and the only comfortable place to talk would be the summit. He sped ahead to get up there so he could properly introduce himself.

Tufah, despite herself, had started forward when it looked like he'd been about to fall. It'd only been for a splitsecond before it became clear he okay footing and had only fallen forward, but still. Her concern had surprised her then pleased her. It was the right thing to do, try to help a fellow pridemember. Still, she hoped he hadn't noticed her almost reach out a paw to try to stop him falling...it was still embarrassing she'd over reacted.
She hadn't meant to surprise him but she supposed she was getting very good at sneaking around. And who wouldn't have their eyes fixed on the beautiful view? Speaking of which, he was heading up there - so she bounded after him, all stealth and stopping to look forgotton.

Sekizen was grateful for her willingness to help him out, but he didn't say anything about it, figuring the "Thank you" would be implied.
He reached the top of the spiral and plopped down at the summit, eyes taking in the sunrise to the east. The top of Pride Rock probably could have comfortably fit a number more individuals than were present. He hadn't missed too much since he continued the climb, the sun wasn't even half-way up yet. For this, he was also grateful.
"You scared me back there!" Sekizen said, even though he doubted that she didn't know that already. "I'm Sekizen," he introduced with a quick bow of the head.

"Sorry for startling you." She bobbed her head as well, then lay down, sphinx-like. She angled her face to catch the warmth of the first weak sunlight to reach the top of Priderock. Tufah was glad that it hadn't risen too much during the climb and incident on the winding path.
"I'm called Tufah." Still enchanted by the views of her beloved Pridelands and a little tired from her early morning walk, she was milder than usual. Normally she wouldn't wish to share this experience with annoying - maybe Noyana or Tiah... - would leave to find her own special place to sit.

Sekizen could've sworn he'd heard the name somewhere before, but he just couldn't place it. He tossed that worry aside.
"Nice to meet you, Tufah. You're a Pridelander, too, I presume?" He asked, just double checking. He doubted a rogue would be able to make it this far into the Pridelands unnoticed. He hadn't seen anyone around that looked like her... perhaps he hadn't looked in the right place until now.

"All my life." Normally her eyebrows would have risen or there'd be a sneer in her voice - out of pride - because of course she was a Pridelander! She looked more like a traditional Pridelander than this young lion with his white and shocking black. This place was in her blood.
Instead she just smiled and continued to study the scene below. A few things further away on the horizon puzzled her. What was that huge tree? And that shadowy place on the boarder?
"Do you come up here often?"

"Nope, this is my first time ever," Sekizen admitted. "I've always thought that only royal blooded lions were allowed up here, until I heard someone say that anyone could come up." He said thoughtfully. "I wished I'd known I was allowed here earlier, but... Better late than never," the juve said, turning his eyes back to the brightening horizon.
It truly was a sight of beauty. Yet another angle he saw the rock from... Last time he had a view that rivaled this one was from the back of a goddess, not so long ago. He hadn't thought about her in a long time, he wondered silently how she was doing.

"Even if it was just royal-blooded lions, I'd be able to get up here. And if it was everyone but the immediate royals, I'd still sneek up." She was royal, if forgotton, as full blooded as the current princes and princesses anyway. The two lines ran parallel even if most people ignored it. Tufah however was very very very aware of the fact.
"It's worth it. It's beautiful."

Sekizen looked over to her, giving her a quick inspection. There was no doubt in his mind she ran from scar's line now. He hadn't thought about it, really, until she mentioned it. Without the characteristic gold... she wasn't from Mufasa, he could tell. He decided not to comment on it, however. Sometimes the mention of bloodlines in this pride brought up conflict, and that was the last thing Sekizen wanted.
He turned his eyes back to the sunrise. "It sure is." It had risen a considerable amount since he took his eyes away from it.

She turned to study the other youngster again, simply curious and made still more mild by the pretty sight before them. Older than her by quite a bit and seemingly not too bad a lion so far. Maybe she'd find him again, or bump into him again. For now...
"I'd better say goodbye, Sekizen. My family'll wonder where I am if I stay longer. It was nice meeting you."
