Ah summer.

Vodka was up late last night, and he found himself watching fireflies until early in the morning when even they went to rest. It was strange for him to be up so late, so the morning was bright and painful!

He rolled over from a soft shrubbery, realizing that he had completely wiped out apparently. It did not feel good to be awake, but after finally accepting that he was completely woken up, he lazily stood up and flipped his long mane out of his eyes. The sun never did anything pleasant for him in the summer, it made his dark coat unbearably hot, and it also seemed to wake him up WAY too early in the morning.

But, after a moment of grumpiness, Vodka put a smile on his face and decided to walk along a shaded path. It really was hot outside, but today had somewhat of a breeze, so Vodka was relieved. Maybe he would take a run or something...ah, he knew it was lame, but his days recently had been completely lonely. He was used to it though, and he chuckled as he walked along the cool path.

Summer was such a fantastic time!

Kiwi Tart was nothing but smiles, having such a fantastic time already today, and the day had just begun! She had awoken early, found herself the perfect patch of grass to munch on for a morning snack, and spent an hour's time dancing with the butterflies before they continued on in their errands for the day. She was sad to see the small group of them go, but she knew that as the day grew older, there were always things to do that you didn't really want to do.

Now it was time to look for a new prey to latch onto. Kiwi didn't much like being by herself, as it got dull. Fast.

She trotted along in the sun, her attention span all over the place as she looked at the trees, a bird, the flowers, a Soquili...oh, hey! She paused where she was, ears perking up as she tried to judge the other's personality by it's body language. She knew better then to rush into a situation that might be dangerous. Little mares were not strong, no matter what some others thought.

"Hmmm," she pondered, yellow hooves slowly carrying her closer to her 'prey', gingerly stepping on the ground so she wouldn't make too much noise. They didn't have big scary wings, as she'd seen some have (from far away, of course!), but they didn't seem over thrilled either.

No harm in trying though, right? Hopefully she could outrun them if it did get kind of scary...

"Hello!" she called out, stopping where she was as she spoke. Her tail swished behind her, the tip flicking against her flanks on both sides as she waiting for a reply, if a bit impatiently.

Vodka jumped for a second, not even noticing the bright female in front of him. "Oh!" he mumbled, but straightened out his back to try and look more impressive. "Hello there!"

Great, how embarrassing! He hadn't even seen the female before, and now she probably thought he was a complete lamer! He really needed to be more keen, and ignore his tired body. The lack of sleep was really not helping him today.

But my.. talk about a complete opposite! Not only was the female bright in color, but she bounced with energy while waiting for Vodka to respond back. He was intrigued, and continued to smile playfully at her. After the stallion had pulled himself together, he grew excited, since this was the first time a FEMALE of all things had approached him. Now.. the big catch was if he would actually ruin the moment or not. But, he kept telling himself that those were NOT the thoughts he needed at this moment, and he just needed to remain -chill-.

"Good morning to you." he added once more, remembering that it was morning. "Lovely day, isn't it?" So far it seemed like he was off to a good start.

Mmmn, deep voice! Definately a male....or else that would be some scary female. Kiwi flashed a smile back at the black and blue Soquili, moreso laughing at the thought that darted through her mind then anything.

She danced a bit in her spot, only momentarily, before taking a few steps towards the stallion. She gave him a little glance, juuuust making sure that she wasn't doing anything too wrong, and returned the greeting.

"It's a fantastic day!" she replied cheerfully, "I love the warm mornings of the summer. So many thing to run into. Sometimes others, too." She grinned at the other with her comment. Sometimes she felt a little smug, she would admit.

"By the way, I'm Kiwi Tart, though Kiwi is just fine with me." She shook her head to keep her mane out of her face, her green eyes glancing up at his face expectantly.

"Kiwi.." he tested the name out, and chuckled to her happily. "My name is Vodka, its nice to meet you!" He couldn't even express to her how happy he was to have some company! And, cute company at that, too!

But, shifting his crazy thoughts away for the moment, he watched her bounce about happily. "Did you have any big plans for the day? I hope I am not intervening. Sometimes I run into others who are busy throughout the whoole day, and even into the night." Which Vodka found to be impossible on a hot summer day. "I don't even know where I was heading." he added, wondering where his body was leading him to.

"But, either way, I am glad you stopped me. I was a zombie before you appeared." Goodness he was ranting, but if anything he didn't want to remain boring to her. "Have you been up for awhile? I don't even know what part of the day it is." Was it even still morning? Or had the noonish hour crept up on him? How embarrassing!

His mind was even making him dizzy with all of his thinking!!

"Hmmm?" Kiwi's ears flicked between frontwards and backwards, trying to keep up with the ramblings of the stallion. She giggled. How silly! Obviously he must of just woken up, since he was such a mess. And on top of that he mustn't of slept very well either. "Zombie, huh? Well, if you were, you certainly wouldn't be up and about now!" She gave him a playful tease, since indeed the sun was out shining brightly, and the heat was just starting to settle onto the grass. Soon the air would be full of the sweet scents that the different grasses carried.

"I've been up for a while, yep. I love getting up early in the morning. That's the best time to get the right pickings for breakfast!" Her tail swished once more behind her before settling, her neck stretching out infront of her a bit, carrying her head down a bit. She peered up at him between her forelock, her smile still there, but her speaking hiding just how bright it was.

"It's only just creeping towards the noon-time, when the shadows are at their smallest. The heat of the day hasn't even peaked yet, hee!" She popped her head back up, ears forward, wondering what his reaction to that would be. Black wasn't a good colour for the heat, and she predicted that he didn't much like the summer heat as it was, anyway.

"And, well, Vodka, to answer your earlier question, I haven't a date or plan at all today~ I'm simply out enjoying a pleaseant day." She took a step backwards, then another, and then bounced backwards, giving another little dance with her feet. "Besides, days like these just ask to be enjoyed."

"But still, I am thankful you helped bring me back to life, in a sense." he added, chuckling a bit at his own silly words. If she hadn't of given him a reason to jump up like that, he could have been wandering around for hours! That was basically the daily routine.

"And how was your breakfast this morning? Hopefully it was satisfactory?" Maybe Vodka had been hanging out in a bad area of grass, because where he slept last night tasted terrible in his mouth this morning. "I really need to learn which grass is good to eat, because every morning I tend to nibble on something nasty." Wait.. why did he blatently tell her that? Nice one Vodka, seriously. He shook his head while still in thought.

Bringing his 'normal' attention back on her, he calmly commented, "Ah, thank goodness its not too late. I certainly don't want to sleep through the day." Well, personally he DID want to curl up and go back to sleep, but talking to Kiwi was much better then that. "It is a day like that, isn't it? Now what should I do to enjoy it.." He peered up at the bright blue sky, pondering what the heck his day held for him. "I would be happy to keep you company." he finally spurted out, and looked at her nervously. "I am not really sure where we should go.. any hobbies you enjoy? Maybe we can figure something out together." Vodka would basically go along with whatever Kiwi said, but he didn't want to show her that 'weak' attitude, thing. Mares didn't like that these days, they only seemed to like that 'Bad boy' appeal.

Ah, and there was also that 'Mr. Know it all' appeal too. "Ah, I think there is a beach around here." He knew there was a beach around them, but he was too cool to say it like that! Or, for now he would at least pretend that to show her how complex and awesome he was.

"It was quite lovely, thank you!" said Kiwi, her smile softening as she spoke. "And it's quite easy to find the good stuff, you just have to train your nose. Perhaps later I could show you, if you'd like?" A simple question, but it could almost be setting itself up for the promise of meeting again later. Besdies, Kiwi liked him! He was nice, if a bit goofy with words at times.

Kiwi's smile brightened again though, at the prospect that Vodka was offering her. "Oh, really? The beach would be lovely! I don't go there too often, I'm usually by the river, actually. Are there fun things to do there?" An innocent question, as she never spent too much time there. It might be the fact that the only animals she would come across were the gulls, and they were more concerned about eating then just bringing up a simple conversation. Someone needed to teach them manners, but Kiwi didn't have the attention span nor determination to even try.

"I would appreciate that.." his eyes were bright, and he was thankful that his comment about the grass didn't creep her out or anything. He figured it was pretty pathetic that he didn't have very good smelling skills, but she didn't seem unimpressed at all. "I really need to train my nose for that stuff! I would love any help I could get." Man, Kiwi was nice! Offering out of nowhere to help him out and stuff, oh that made him relieved! It also made him happy since someone was showing kindness to him for no reason!

He then grinned for a moment, happy that she liked the idea of the beach. "The beach is just a pretty area, and judging by the calm breeze today, I would say that the water is peaceful to walk in. The sand is also really fun to walk on." with a nod, he lifted his hoof playfully while then placing it down. "I think if anything the beach is always fun, especially with company. Usually I wander around myself, but I would be honored to show you the way. I am sure you will like it, especially on a day like today."

He perked up, and strode a few paces past her, trying to get a feel for direction. "Come on, its this way!" he triumphantly stated, turning his head to look at her. "Its a tad far, so why don't we trot there to save time?" He waited for her reaction, and then started to trot along. Heh, he really was excited at this point.

Kiwi's ears flicked forward at Vodka, listening to his rambling. She didn't mind one bit, as sometimes when she got so excited she could barely keep her tongue in her mouth at times, and knew that someone, someday would have to listen to her too.

Her lime green eyes blinked curiously at the blue and black stallion, amazed that he could predict what the waves would be like. "Wow!" she chirped, ready to get going and see just where Vodka wanted to go. "Well, then, Vodka, lead the way!" Her yellow hooves danced back a few steps before she followed him, throwing her head around in excitement for having some sort of plans for the day. She herself would wander aimlessly, sometimes conversing with the other Soquili she would run into, or even straying from the ones that had wings. Other days she would end up being by herself, and in those days she would chatter up with the birds and squirrels, since they were the only ones that could keep up with her vibrant personality.

Her lengths were a bit shorter then Vodka's, as she wasn't very big or strong, but her endurance was enough to keep something of a pace up with the stallion. Her tail drifted behind her, the curls bobbing up and down with every step. It felt good to settle herself into a steady pace instead of her normal small bursts of energy. Hell, it felt good just being able to know where she was going for a few hours time!

Vodka was glad to see that the female was excited, and he grinned happily, leading them in a comfortable pace.

"It really isn't too far, we are already half way there!" Well, thankfully they were, Vodka was only good at ranting to a point. He found himself for a loss of words for a moment, but seeing Kiwi Tart's smile brought him back on track!

"So tell me more about yourself, Kiwi." he said, happily. "Do you have any sisters or anything?" Well, he might as well bring up some chatting while they still had a few minutes to go until the beach. It had been awhile since he met someone new, so he took advantage and tried to remember everything he could about the mare. It was always good to make friends, so they could meet up again and she could teach him about tastier grass to eat!

"I was just thinking.. your name fits you so well! You are so bright and happy, it is nice to see that." Maybe his comment was stupid, but he put his mane over his face in a bit of embarrassment. He wasn't very good at giving complements, and sometimes he wondered if he just shouldn't at all!
