So, I was talking with my mom earlier today about Chekhov and we digressed to drama in general and began discussing Shakespeare. I had mentioned to her about how I would like to get an anthology of Shakespeare's theatrical works. Now, my mom, for her personal library, orders books from the Folio Society quite often. Folio Society books are hard-bound and generally of very high-quality. They're great for anything like a personal library or office (sounds like an advertisement, doesn't it?). Anyway, so, I had mentioned getting an anthology when she had told me when she ordered the Folio Society's collection of Shakespeare's theatrical works that the box you display them in was ripped when it arrived. Eventually they just sent her a new set, without taking the old set back. So, she had told me, if I'd like, I could just take the old set. There is no way to describe how happy I was. A set of Shakespeare's Classical Plays, Dramas, Comedies, and Tragedies all for myself! We're talking $70 books here, it was awesome! It was, to use a cliche term, Christmas in July for me. Even though it will take me awhile to get around to reading them, I'm so happy to have them. They are some of my most prized books now.
Anyway, I was just so happy I felt like sharing this! : D
Anyone else have stories like this?

I've got one! My mother's former employer (an elderly gentleman) had a whole bunch of books in his garage that he didn't want anymore, and was planning to donate somewhere. When he found out that I love to read, he let me look at them first to see if there was anything I wanted, and lo and behold! I discovered most of the Harvard Classics Five-Foot Shelf of Books! That was a happy day indeed. n_n
